Only thing that I noticed was that they will probably have him getting the Infinity Gauntlet (featured in Odin's vault in Thor) and fucking shit up. His whole deal is being obsessed with death, and wants to put the universe back in "balance" with equal amounts living and dead. Kind of weird, i know. That explains at the end where the one alien is talking to him saying something like "trying to take over the humans in playing with death", he then turns and smiles.

Thanos is a cool fucking character. A serious bad ass that literally worships Death.(his name is based on Thanatos, the Greek god of death. Death in the Marvel Universe is personified as a woman, a female Grim Reaper type figure that Thanos is literally in love with. That's why the scene was so cool for me. When the Chitauri guy says that to fight Earth is to "court Death", it was a double meaning. That's why Thanos grinned.

Yeah, but its extremely unlikely they'll do that storyline for a number of reasons. When he shows up it will probably be the "ultimate" version.

That being said that character is exciting because he's a major badass. Stronger than the hulk, smarter than doom, with enough tech to lay waste to half the galaxy without the use of plot devices. If you want a threat of epic proportions, he's just under Galactus without the cheese factor.

It'll have to be massively reworked for a film, sure, but the characters works. I think with comic adaptations, what happens most is to have an iconic visual element for the design, then follow it up with a script and action which makes sense in a film format.
 
I swear, if I was spoilered on TDKR I'm gonna Hulk Smash that guy...

Anyway, I just finished Ultimates 1. Even though I liked it, I'm glad they didn't go that route with the movie. It just wouldn't have worked that well.

me too but that seemed like a common asumption of what will happen. if it was however a spoiler he better not admit it so we will not know for sure.

Not "playing with death". He specifically says "court death". It's an important distinction to anyone familiar with Marvel's version of Death.

It depends how they do it.
Typically, Thanos showing up on Earth was during some big Marvel Comics event, and the whole universe (X-Men, Avengers, Cosmic Marvel, Paranormal Marvel, etc etc) all get involved. As much, comic writers pretty much had no idea how to end it, really. This time, it's just The Avengers, so the plot will probably be more grounded.

If I were writing, I'd base it around Thanos trying to break into Asgard and take the Infinity Gauntlet. He can't actually have that thing in the current MCU and still be able to lose, so they could do the next best thing and just have the threat be that endgame scenario.

Why is everyone saying this is a spoiler? You can see great examples of these plot points in the trailer. Bane seems to be arresting rich folk which is what that jail is for. Then you have the broken mask and a limping Wayne. It's all there.

Keep in mind we could be completely wrong.

There is NOTHING in that trailer that would lead you down the path of thinking "Bane is creating chaos for a purpose of finishing the job from BB". NOTHING.

Everyone is just hoping it's not a specific spoiler, because he said it with such authority that it seemed like he might have known more. If it's just speculation, I was just disagreeing that I didn't note any of those specific things from the trailers I've seen. No biggie.

It might need more than just 62M today to get to 200M. With that said, the previous best Saturday is 51M by SM3 which will get blown away.
 
If they're going to buy rights to characters they don't own with which to fight Thanos, Silver Surfer would probably work the best. I don't think Spiderman or Wolverine would be of much use.

I think the Saturday figure is doable but I don't know about Sunday now that I look at it. That's an INSANE Sunday number. Biggest Sunday ever is TDK's $44M......

Numbers every year are getting more and more inflated because of 3D screenings though. I think that could push it over.

Yes, what I was alluding to in my previous post. Avengers needs 77M today to get a 55M Sunday. I feel it needs a min of 72-74M Saturday for the 200M to be broken.

Indeed, $65m would probably mean "only" $195m, but with the way this performing, it's possible Saturday could end up way bigger than I'm thinking. Having crazy strong word of mouth could mean $200+m happens.

I love Ultimate Spider-Man. I actually really love the Ultimate Spider-Man clone saga. Ultimate Spider-Woman is one of my favorite character. it's just really amusing of her origin story

the current ultimate spider-man comics is also very interesting imo, a bit slow, but I like the characters so far.
 
Is the 3d really bad, or people just saying this because of the post conversion? A friend said it was good, just doesn't stand out. He also said it doesn't intrude on the movie and that he ultimately forgot he was watching in 3d a few times. I need that huge screen and sound, mang.

If it got $77M today it would only need $42.5M on Sunday not $55M. If it hits $67-$68 million today and gets a 22% drop on Sunday ($53 million) like Spider-man 3 it would hit $200 million.
