Why'd that cube-machine guy put in "a fail safe in Loki's sceptor" at all I wonder? Was that meant to imply that Loki would have wanted an emergency shutdown, or that the guy that was under control had some of his conscious mind still active when he was under control?

Are there any good podcasts that have discussed the movie? Smodcast really dropped the ball on this.

he could have a batman style ship that drops "add ons" if he needs em. something like the Mark VII equip - have something shoot out of the stark building and connect with the suit. then it transforms into a HUGE gun.
awesome.
We reviewed the film on the latest podcast, but all very lukewarm on it.
...and that's with you guys being lukewarm on it? Whoa?11:03 36:00 The Avengers review

nah, not in Thor or in any of the movies.
Large radius blast that could do more damage to the surroundings than they wanted to. Captain America and Thor seemed kind of stunned afterward as well, well maybe Thor just was because isn't Caps shield supposed to negate all vibration?
That was when the two of them were fighting right? It did visible damage to the suit enough that doing such a thing wouldn't be too wise.
The best example is quite likely the one found in Iron Man 2... "you wanna be a War Machine?"Yeah the reasoning why they didn't try it again makes perfect sense. But usually, when something like that happens early in the movie, they re-introduce it at the climax.
Examples:
- don't cross the streams
- hey here's a flyer to save this clocktower that was struck by lightning at exactly this time in 1955
- legends says that someone once flew that giant red flying dragon thing that terrorized you earlier in the movie
- Pepper, throw away that old version of my arc reactor heart stabilizer. This new one is way better and there's no chance someone will steal it out of my chest which will require me to use the old one.
I thought it meant he still had some of his conscious mind.
I was kind of hoping we would get a GAMMA CRUSH from Hulk. Proton Cannon would be the hypest thing put on film though, lol.
I want just about every hyper in MvC3 to show up in Marvel.
- ant man on Hawkeye's bow
- hulk jumping into outer space, grabbing an asteroid and coming down on the villain with it
- IRON AVENGER
...and that's with you guys being lukewarm on it? Whoa?
That's how I took it too. Also, brain-hijacked Hawkeye, the man with perfect aim, shoots Fury in the vest instead of the head.

I hope they add brb in avengers 2 for the reactionI figured that Hulk should be able to lift that thing! :lol
And it was also one of those scenes where Loki literally like, sat on a rock by himself, presumably because he wanted to go along for the ride, but none of the crazy avengers even thought "maybe he'll make a ghost of himself or escape or something". They kept just leaving him lying around. All that hero interplay during the Cap vs. Thor vs. Iron Man scene was just fan-service as far as I could tell.

Unless Loki is useless (though nearly impossible to harm) without the staff of doom, which I suppose might be the case.
One thing about this movie I was surprised about was the lack of events in the movie coming back in the climax, Chekov's gun style.
- Captain's Shield + Thor's Hammer = big explosion. But they don't use this ability during the giant alien invasion.
- Iron Man + Thor's Lightning = 400% energy capacity. When IM was running out of juice at the end, I expected Thor to give him a re-charge. That didn't happen either.
Not a negative, just something I noticed.
I expected both of these things too. They seemed incredibly telegraphed to me, and when they didn't show up I kinda scratched my head. Whedon must have had the same idea, so my guess these follow-up scenes were shot but edited out for time, which stinks.
I cannot fathom how someone who loved Cap and MI4 doesn't like Avengers.
I wish the Mark VII Iron Man had been something crazier than just a new suit with a fancy method of putting it on. It should have at least had some cool new capabilities.
If they had just copied the part from Ultimates where he uses the Iron Man 6 I wouldn't have complained.

It looked like it had more boosters on it. Perhaps it's faster? Maybe the scatter missiles were new too.
I like the idea of Captain America just casually picking Mjolnir up and passing it to Thor on their way out somewhere. As Steve walks out the room everybody just stares in disbelief like what the fuck was that?
Oh thank god I wasn't the only one wanting to see some MvC hypers go down, just ITCHING for that Gamma Crush. We got quite a few Gimlets out of Hawkeye, and just like in the game it hits behind him too :lol
Shane Black, if I ever get an Iron Avenger out of you, I'll have your children.
Avengers 2 should end with Thanos whipping a bubble at Cap and Cap saying NAH FUCK THAT, FINAL JUSTICE.
He was accomplishing controlled flight with his hands occupied which I don't think(?) he could do before in the MCU.
I believe they will elaborate on it in IM3. The Iron Man armor Avengers official app mentioned the latest revolution in the Mark VII armor had to do with magnetism IIRC. I remember asking in this thread if the bracelet had any significance because of such, and if it was magnetic or something.I wish the Mark VII Iron Man had been something crazier than just a new suit with a fancy method of putting it on. I never noticed that.![]()

What was all that ledger stuff Black Widow kept talking about?
EDIT: About getting Red on it

?
It wasn't in the movie.
That's true. Not sure if I want to see a CG coccoon of flesh though.Mark VII can actually tie into Iron Man 3 really well if they're basing it on Extremis. The whole suit up process takes too long and Mark VII was a solution Tony came up with. And it's still not good enough.
VERY SERIOUS QUESTION:
As a matter of fact, my wife noticed it. Why does Hulk SAVE Iron Man at the end? Doesn't he HATE everything? They built up a premise that he was 'uncontrollable', didn't explain how he could control it, yet he visibly was at the end. Didn't even attack Thor or Cap while Iron Man was down for the count.
Please, someone shed some light. It ruins the movie for me.
But Good job Bob and Yamato tell me...
Ok.
I liked The Avengers and I really enjoyed the last hour or so, don't get me wrong. Captain America is a much, much better film though. Read my earlier impression, but The Avengers has zero stakes and for a nearly 2 and half hour film, it's hard to get involved with it on more than just the basic popcorn level. I was hoping Whedon could come up with an interesting story, but he didn't. But, like I said, it's fun to see all these characters together and their exchanges are fun.
It seems he became more aware and in control.VERY SERIOUS QUESTION:
