This one got an out-loud HA from me.

I always found it amusing that the guy with no depth perception was firing a bazooka at a plane carrying a nuke.

..

Yup, no danger there :D

Why wasn't Hulk able to get stronger to fight Thor and lift his hammer? I totally expected him to do that because his powerr increases every time.

It's not about strenght.

'no living being may lift the hammer unless deemed worthy by Odin or if they simply are worthy enough'

Sounds lame. I'll take story over pure, senseless action any day, in any medium.
Both those guys are being ridiculous in their opinions. Ultimates by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch is awesome. It's one of the best comics of the past decade IMO

The characters don't have to be their 'true selves' because it isn't within normal continuity. That's not a valid criticism. It isn't 'x-treme' either though it obviously goes for badass moments and one liners. There's really not a hint of 90s 'x-treme' in Ultimates. It is a little 'in your face' though.

Ultimates is a cynical, cinematic take on the idea of Avengers. It's great stuff. Well written, masterfully drawn. Just because every character is selfish and flawed doesn't make it a great comic. You should check it out and decide for yourself.

Don't listen to this guy. Its Jeph Loeb in disguise.

Don't read Jeph Loeb on anything you actually care about. Do read Jeph Loeb if you're willing to be trolled hardcore and take it in stride.

Even Batman: Long Halloween? Didn't Nolan state that as an influence on Dark Knight?

Most Loeb stuff is shit, but Long Halloween was great.

More like don't read anything Loeb wrote without checking that Tim Sale is the artist. For whatever reason, Sale makes Loeb's writing adept....

That said, I just opened up Ultimates 3 again for shits and giggles, and it only took about two pages for me to enter permanently wide-eyed mode, haha, it's the trolling holy grail.

Just saw it for a second time tonight, so damn good. My favourite moment might be when Cap tells Bruce to get angry and he replies with "the secret is I'm always angry" and then proceeds to turn around while transform and then smash that snake thing in the face, fucking chills.

Okay, sister and I just saw it. WOW! So awesome!

I think the only thing that really bugged us was that we were really hoping there'd be at least some kind of quick name drop for Hank and Janet. Like Barton in Thor.
Also, considering all the space rumors and stuff, it wasn't so much a surprise to see Thanos as much as seeing how great he looked and the hype to see more of him. Do the aliens mentioned actually have a comic book counterpart, or did they make them up just for the movie? Because I heard the name dropped, but I didn't recognize it at all. My sister wanted to say Kri, I wanted to say Skrulls.

Don't know if anyone caught this (and if this has already been mentioned I'm sorry, because I'm not going to read through 200+ pages to find out) but during the moment when Thor is first confronting Loki, two ravens can be seen flying past them.

ODIN IS WATCHING.

Yeah we noticed that too. GREAT little touch for the Norse mythology buffs.

Saw it again tonight. So is it safe to say Thor 2 will be about battling Thanos/Chintauri? Also who is the Cellist who moved to Portland that Colson was dating? They mention it so many times I was thinking it might be a character.

Thanos is too much for Thor, it will be an avengers villain.

Needs more Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch

Oh god, please don't post anything from Ultimates 3. There's 60 years worth of other stuff.
Really hope we get Wasp in the Ant-Man movie.
If we don't, they're going to missing out on such a huge advantage for that movie. I can't imagine them not having her. There is no love/relationship story in any MCU movie or specifically the Avengers roster right now, that involves both having powers. It would bring a totally new dynamic to the table and they'd be insane not to embrace that. I fear that Pym will be in the 60s with only Scott Lang as modern-day Ant-Man.
Ooh, are we bashing Ultimate Universe?
No, just Ultimates vol. 3.. Ultimate Universe rocks.
The Chitauri are basically Ultimate Skrulls. They appear in The Ultimates etc.
True to an extent, but not really. Skrulls exist in the Ultimate comics universes as well, just not in relation to the Avengers (or should I say, Ultimates). The Chitauri in the movie are meaningless, though.

*brofist*

They are definitely one of the coolest pairs I've seen. Also, when X2 came out, I wanted Cyclops' Oakleys for the longest time but since I was a broke student, no way I could buy them. This time around with Hawkeye's sunglasses, I wasn't gonna miss my chance. Just wish they were actually featured in the movie rather than in promo shots.
I actually got the Cyclops ones, even imported the blood red lenses (they're non polarized though). Problem is, I wear actual glasses and can't stand contacts so I've never been able to wear them. They sit on my desk, mocking me every day. I'm thinking of getting Lasik soon, partly just so I can wear them, haha.

EDIT - took a pic

You don't need much depth perception to shoot a firearm... actually most people close an eye for a better aim. The important part is aligning the reticle and the target.

Just saw this for the second time tonight, and hot damn is that Iron Man/Captain America shield-beam-sweep move one the coolest things ever.

I'm thinking 3D for my third viewing, now that I can pretty much play the movie back in my head. Couldn't hurt the experience I guess.

The movie wasn't too bad, the cool moments in the movie are just so great. Was surprised by Stark's weed reference to Banner about keeping calm. And I dont think seeing all of these heroes together was the money shot of the movie. It was the part where Banner says his secret to control and just unleashes the beast. A-mazing.

Also, Thanos man. I paid special attention to it and damn if his chin just isnt gigantic. I know it's huge in the comics, but good lord.

Those still look so dope... And I wear glasses too, but I can handle my contacts (mostly due to wearing them every so often). I actually plan on wearing them tomorrow for Bike to Work Day. Should be a contrast with my fixie bike, cap & non-racing helmet lol.
