The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

PC version is probably the best, yeah? My computer is colossally shitty, but I think I can at least manage this.

You should be able to. You can fiddle with the draw distance and stuff if need be.

With PC you have mods and more server options so I'd go for that, but this version looks fine too.

I wonder how many times the Giant Bomb guys have made the "Ok, and that has been [insert game here]" joke at the beginning of a quick look. Seriously, they make that fucking joke constantly.

Haha I was wondering that too, seems like it's in every second quicklook at this point.

Would have been awesome if Jeff tried to burn Brad's house. Hopefully they do that on TNT.

Was wishing for that the whole way through.

I never understood Minecraft. On the other hand, i bought Terraria on steam sale, and i really enjoyed it.

So maybe i'll give the game another chance on 360. Price is a little high though ( yes i know the pc version cost as much )

I think it's less than the PC version. Didn't they say it was $20?

About to buy the PC version and unless I'm missing something it shows $26.95.

There is something spiritually fullfilling about watching someone play Minecraft.

Absolutely.

I still think PC minecraft is one of the best casual games ever made.
I put the game on peaceful, press play on a random podcast, start a brand new map, and proceed to build my kingdom of castles, ore mines, treehouses, floating airships, farmland, underwater domes of glass, towers, traps, etcetera.

Also, playing it on survival mode with friends and voicechat is an amazing experience.

I like the new video player.

As far as I can tell it still does the irritating thing where it resets when you do the Windows 7 snap-a-window-to-the-side-of-the-screen thing that I don't know the name of, only now you can't just skip back to where you were in the video, you have to wait for it to load or buffer or whatever. And you can't just click anywhere to start the video again after pausing it, you have to click on the play symbol in the middle. But I guess you can change resolution on the fly now.

Are they doing Starhawk this thursday for TNT? But it's not even out in Europe until Friday. :( They rarely do PS3 TNTs but when they do they make sure it's a spanking new title as of yet unreleased in Europe.

I like it. It was funny to begin with, then it got tired and a little annoying and now it's like a Giant Bomb staple of Quick Looks. Like Brad dying.

I'll give Starhawk one award: It has one of the best engine and gunsounds. When those hawks activate, it's like something out of a Transformers movie.

Its Java based and can be played inside a web browser, you should be fine.

People say this but I really feel like Minecraft has outgrown Java. The current version can be really, really buggy and crash-happy, in addition to having weird, bizarre framerate problems at the most inexplicable times.

I feel the game would be a hell of a lot more stable if it was written on literally anything else.

Datura looks like the kind of games I dislike the most. Those that seem to be made by pretentious assholes who think games in general are for babies.

Well, it looks ok.

I imagine the 360 version isn't in Java because of Microsoft's stance on it. I have no idea how porting a whole game to an equivalent like C# would work, if at all, or how much work it would be.

Why do they do qls of console games that are also on pc? Is it to cater to their audiences interests or because they don't have enough pcs?

because there current pc is pretty busted from what I can tell.

In the monday thing, Ryan mentioned it had a hard time running risen 2. And They were playing Terra on pretty low settings.

yeah you guys are a little TOO obsessed with these dudes.

lmao "brad referenced the ryan incident".

pretty sure brad forgot about "the ryan incident" five minutes after it happened.

I don't understand anything with these references and stuff. Can't we just use the site? Goddammit, internet.

Oh, are you guys talking about the Trials Evo thing?

I actually think Trials 2's near vertical learning curve was better in the long run. You had to learn the bike physics really quickly, but once you did even the last level was doable.
