Played the intro to Heroes Call...very well put together game if that intro is any indication.

- gestures for skills + buttons which sounds good (will have to see if I accidentally trigger anything)
- animation is smooth
- loot whoring in high gear
- seems a bit easy...but that was the first level

...then you get to town and run into the "wait wall" we'll call it:
- identifying items for free can only be done one at a time and takes a minute to complete...you can buy more slots to ID
- you have to wait for your summons to start the next quest (was only 5 minutes on this first one), and you can pay to speed up the summons

The wait times weren't crazy and the gameplay looks like it'll be great, so going to keep trucking through.

Free game so have no fear giving it a go. A very worthy Diablo clone on the surface.

Even with the problems I like it better than Temple Run. Level design is better, presentation is better...

I kinda suck at it though. There are people with 3 million+ on the leaderboards and I'm stuck with 15k.

How much money do you have to throw at it to feel like a normal game?

How much money do you have to throw at it to feel like a normal game?

I haven't actually spent any real money...honestly I'm ignoring the "buy more money, buy more gems" store all together so far and plan to entirely (don't even know what the prices are).

You find gems as you play, and it looks like these are used to buy the rarer items and also to shorten your summon time so you can get questing again. After completing my second quest my summon time was 10 minutes this time vs. the 5 minutes it was after the first quest.

The game does allow you to replay dungeons to get more money/gems (not sure if this is tied to the summons timer or not, but I don't think it is).

Combat is a little bit sluggish so far, but I really don't have any abilities right now as a Blood Knight outside of my Frenzy self-buff and a Shield Bash (which stuns in a cone...useful). Hopefully this picks up when my skill tree builds out more.

Looting stuff is still great. Environments look great. Animation is great.

Remaining optimistic about this one. Admittedly the quest timers really won't be that big of a deal for me since it seems like I can bang out a quest in 10-15 minutes which is about how much time I have to play in the morning on the train to work...playing on the weekends will be where the test comes in...

...

As a total aside: Inferno+ is awesome.

Triple Town fans or you puzzle-y types might be interested in Elenints.

Same kinda match-3(+ more) gameplay as Triple Town minus the cute factor...and to play skillfully seems to require a bit more planning ahead of your moves.

Somewhat utilitarian presentation and can probably use a bit more polish around the edges ... but the gameplay is solid if you like the genre.

There's quite a few gameplay modes ... a FREE download serves as an intro to several of them, then there is a one-time IAP of $0.99 to unlock everything.
Universal.

Give it a look :

In subway surfer, the more set of missions you complete, you get an increase in your score multiper. The bad thing about this is the more missions you complete (ie: the more you play), you'll definitely have an edge in scores. On the flip side, it's nice to reward people who play a lot, as this also speeds up the difficulty in the game. I started off barely getting ~15k points. Eventually I can regularly get ~120k (with high ~154k) with multiplier at ~22x. That being said..had to delete the game..somehow I got too addicted to the game. =P

I just played Triple Town for the first time last night. I was a big fan of Steambirds and this was made by the same people. Very impressive little puzzle game. It's one of those puzzle games where it slowly reveals itself to you and you begin to learn how to plan moves way in advance. Very rewarding in that aspect.

Ultimately, I was kind of let down by the game because it's very limited in your play options as a 'free user' and it can become a bit tedious when you have to start over.

Subway Surfers is kinda crappy. So buggy. Unresponsive controls. Missions aren't really well thought out (one of them said to beat one of my friends but I already beat everyone prior to the mission). When I get stuck like that, I have to spend coins to unlock. Yet I still play it cause it borrows mechanics from Temple Run and Jetpack Joyride. It's not better than those games though.

Haven't played it too much yet. I agree with everything you said, but it's still kinda fun

Far as I can tell, loot does not show up on your model, which for me is a no-no in 2012 with a 3D engine...

Played a bit of Fortune Street. Not a bad adaptation of the game, but the only multiplayer is adding another person for pass and play to a 4 player game.

I noticed this as well, but was hoping that it was because I was still equipping starter gear...perhaps more advanced pieces adjust the character model?

Too soon to tell from my experience at least.

I was addicted to this game for a week. I dont even think its on my iphone anymore. I burnt out quick.

Nah, it doesn't change at all. Even if you remove the shield your character will still be holding one.

Love Me Not is now out on the App Store, only $0.99!

Check it out HERE

Quite enjoyed what little I got to play of it, for me it was a fairly new idea, and I really liked the aesthetic. I didnt manage to play for too long, so I cant talk too much about gameplay but I certainly enjoyed the look and feel. I will try and get a longer game in to give this bit of feedback more justice.

Hey GAF does anyone else notice significant slow down, frame rate drops in VIRTUA TENNIS?

after playing it for like half hour?

This is just local single player, not Wifi online on a iOS 5.1.1 New iPad (3)

Such a great game, but the frame drops, totally ruin the experience.

It's funny, because I was actually about to purchase that today, and all the reviews have been fantastic... then I saw the Touch Arcade (ironic) review.

Whew.

Anyone else into Gauge (or, Gauge - Game as it's listed on the store)? Saw Baiyon tweet about it last night, then woke up this morning to see an absolutely glowing EDGE review:

http://m.edge-online.com/reviews/gauge-–-game-review

It's wild and completely overlooked. Total assault on the senses.

This looks intriguing. Definitely going to check it out

edit: This is ridiculously addicting and it's free to try. 0.99 cents to purchase the whole game and totally worth it

After completing quest 3 in Hero's Call, the wait time for the next mission is 15 minutes...so it looks like its adding 5 minutes with each successful mission.

Also hit an annoying bug where I used the 4 finger swipe up gesture to app-switch while the "do you want to speed up the summons with gems" dialogue was up and upon doing so it acted as if I said "Yes"...bah!

Game still fun.

2.5 stars?! That must be the lowest score TA have ever given, making Virtua Tennis officially the worst game to have ever existed. Poor SEGA.

It's not even THAT bad... Like I said a few pages ago, the core gameplay is solid, but the constant framerate-stutter, non-working multiplayer and TERRIBLE game modes/story mode REALLY take away from it. For a buck or so it'd be a good game to play a match once in a while, but NOT for a full game.

The controls are pretty damn great (Once you change them in the options from the default of course) I use the "game pad" option, there is lotta good things going on in this game, most importantly the core gameplay is really well done, animations are good, albeit the stuff between points gets repetitive, ( I want to smack my player in the head every time he flips his racquet in the air after losing a point, which is of course every time) shit like that gets repetitive to watch very quick, I am constantly tapping on the screen to skip replays.

But yeah, there are many good things to talk about, I like the feel of the game, I have the faux Djokovic character, and you really get that sense that you are controlling a pro tennis player, the way he smashes, he rushes to the net etc. they all feel quite organic, but all this is wasted when the game just skips frames on you, your character freezes for a millisecond, you cannot run after the ball to return it and you lose a point, very broken , very frustrating.

It's as if the Sega devs were too concerned on making a shiny looking, retina display friendly game with sharp graphics and totally ignored to optimize the performance of the engine with the graphics. The graphics are not even the greatest ( or I should say the art direction) there's great technical stuff going on all over the screen, the lighting is amazing, the sunset, night time projection court lights, etc. etc. look very real, but on the other side, the character models are lackluster and lazy, they called it a day after the good motion captures, didn't bother to take care of the zombie eyes, lack of other facial expressions, etc. this game just looks like it was rushed or lotta stuff was overlooked under the surface.

Anyway I don't regret dropping the $5, in hopes that they will patch some of the choppy frame issues, but who knows..!? /Giant Bombcast rant.

Downloading Heroes Call and Gauge once home. Gauge looks SO confusing from the appstore pics/description, I have no idea what to expect.

Gauge is fucking excellent. My God though. Serious epilepsy warning.

I don't think I understand 2nd Gauge. Am I losing a life every time I use it?!

Just saw the last couple of posts. Gauge is intense. So simple, but just an amazing amount of concentration is needed to keep going on.

Great soundtrack and design.

Oh wow, just played it for like 15mins too, what a surprise. I'm first in my friendlist already with 92.5 Mio, what's everyone else getting oO.

I know this fact has been beat to death in this thread but Kindom Rush is freaking amazing. It's on a whole other plane compared to even the top tier iOS games. Even the achievements are fun and I'm determined to complete this game through and through which is a first for me and iOS games. The art, the polish, the challenge, all add up to a AAA iOS game that I'm having a whole bunch of fun playing. Oh and I'm not a tower defense fan either.

I got 773 mil+ and am ranked 26th overall in Limitless.

Edit: 809 mil+ and 25th. :)

That was after I spent five minutes wondering what the fuck I was doing, letting the gauge run backwards and forwards like a Mario Golf game. I was seconds away from deleting. So glad I didn't. In fact, I coughed up for the full version.

Come at me. GC: ProperChopper

My game Love Me Not is coming out tonight.

Love Me Not is inspired by the childhood game of picking the petals off of flowers to guess the interest of your crush. To play all you have to do is tilt your phone to spin the flower, and tap petals to shoot them.

I've got a few promo codes to give out early, the first 4 to quote this post gets one!
Damnit, that looks awesome. But damn if it doesn't make me want some kind of Every Extend game on iOS.

Anyone know if there is? I'd be surprised if not.

Scribblenauts Remix is up on freeappdaily.me right now

Also Starbase Orion got a decent update with some welcome changes which I can't wait to try out .

Right now I have this in time mode:

Niiiiiice. I really only played it for like 15 minutes, and just wanted to get a full run in to see what score I'd get. Also the first time I actually realized how the 2nd gauge worked oO, intense. Then put it down, will try to get a higher score later :P
