Right now I have this in time mode:

C43F36F7.jpg

What the..? How the hell?

Niiiiiice. I really only played it for like 15 minutes, and just wanted to get a full run in to see what score I'd get. Also the first time I actually realized how the 2nd gauge worked oO, intense. Then put it down, will try to get a higher score later :P

I still don't think I understand 2nd gauge...

That's actually my score in the first 15 minutes too. :)

I just gave myself epilepsy getting oh so close to 7 billion in limitless mode. I think I'm gonna stick with the 2 timed modes instead.

You're basically getting a second income of points with the second gauge. It's the key to getting great scores. Protip: when you get the second gauge ability by hitting the line towards the middle of the screen when it appears, wait until you're at the outer limits of the gauge until you activate it since the second gauge takes longer to fill up.

Subway Surfers is kinda crappy. So buggy. Unresponsive controls. Missions aren't really well thought out (one of them said to beat one of my friends but I already beat everyone prior to the mission). When I get stuck like that, I have to spend coins to unlock. Yet I still play it cause it borrows mechanics from Temple Run and Jetpack Joyride. It's not better than those games though.

Welcome back from your self imposed retirement from GAF :)

Starbase Orion got what sounds like an incredible update:

NEW FEATURES IN v1.1.4

• Colony and Military Leaders
One of the most requested features makes its Starbase Orion debut in this update! Eighteen heroes from the predictable to the bizarre will join the fray as empires scramble to hold their piece of the galaxy.

• Out of Combat Damage Retention
Previous to v1.1.4, ships damaged in combat would be instantly healed at the end of combat. In v1.1.4, ships now retain their damage even after combat ends. To heal your ships, you need to send them to a friendly system with a starbase. Starbases will heal your ships at a rate specific to the level of the starbase.

• Foreign Contact Rating
One of several changes made to spying, contact rating is a new mechanic which affects how likely it is your offensive spies will succeed. The more colonies you have within contact range of the other empire's colonies, the higher your contact rating will be. The higher your contact rating, the more likely it is your spies will succeed.

• Updated Tech: Colony Security Facility
Colony security facility is now an empire-wide tech; CSFI provides a flat 25% reduction to enemy spy success, CSFII provides a flat 50% reduction to enemy spy success.

• AI Improvements
Continual improvements to the AI help the computer opponents step it up a notch.

• Hi-Definition Graphics
Experience the glory of galactic conquest with full HD graphics for the new iPad!

• Fix for iPod Touch
v1.1.3 included a nasty memory bug which affected iPod Touch users; this is now fixed!

• Bug Fixes
You reported them, we fixed them! Thank you so much for everyone helping to make Starbase Orion the best it can be!

Is there a way to disable the pull down menu thing in iOS 5? I can't find anything in Settings and that thing keeps getting in the way when I try to play LostWinds.

There's no way to disable it. Whenever you're playing a game you have to swipe down twice instead of the normal once and the second swipe has to be on the little tab in the middle or else it doesn't pull down. Unless you're bothered by the little tab showing up often, it doesn't really affect the game.

Edit - I remember reading that OSX Mountain Lion is getting a disable Notification Center feature so maybe that's coming to iOS 6 too.

I know how it works, but I still somehow manage to pull it down often enough where it's interfering with my enjoyment.

Not feeling Gauge. It's the kind of game that just pisses me off. Cool but frustrating.

Edit for sp.
I bought it. I will pay developers for innovative ideas. This is what we need more of on iOS. 99 cents for a breath of fresh air? No problem.

The sale of the day of Steam is a game called Pickers, like the show American Pickers. I'm fully aware how awful that how is, but for some reason, I've watched it a lot, anyway. After I saw it on Steam, I randomly checked the app store. Lo and behold, it exists there, and is currently on sale for three bucks.

Anyway, I bought it. Lol. I guess I'll let you guys know how it is when I get around to trying it.

Also, welcome back Wario.

Just figured out how Touch Mode works in Gauge - Game after playing it wrong for awhile. Each time you tap the screen one point decreases from your timer (not really a timer but I can't think of the right word for it now). The key to this mode is to not keep tapping the screen rapidly to keep the meter at the ends of the gauge since this decreases your tap timer real fast; you need to let the meter decrease as much as possible and then hold it to get it as far as possible to get the most points out of a single tap.

So, am I missing something in Gauge, or is it basically just a little mini game of balancing the bar as close to the edge without touching it? It seems super flat to me, like something I'd play once then never touch again.

Shearie what's your name on Game Center ? Are you seriously ranking third highest in the world with Gauge? I think you are Photoshoping yourself in that screen grab. haha joking...(highest rank I got in Timed Mode was like 650 something)

Anyway, I am with the Flunkie on this one, I played the free version enough times to be convinced it's not a game for me, sure "innovative" and all, it's simply a game that brings the worst in me, failing in this game is too quick and too easy, restarting again is too slow and cumbersome, and the game's too simple for its own good IMO.

I want to play games to relax and take my time, not get nerve wrecked within ten seconds...not for me at all.

Don't think you are missing anything.

My GC name is Shearie. I don't think you can get the highest scores in this game from the free version since you get 2 extra lives in the paid version and lives = point multiplicator.

I personally think this is dumb gaming done right. The main game I play nowadays, Spacechem, is what I play when I want to think n shit.

Quite enjoyed what little I got to play of it, for me it was a fairly new idea, and I really liked the aesthetic. I didnt manage to play for too long, so I cant talk too much about gameplay but I certainly enjoyed the look and feel. I will try and get a longer game in to give this bit of feedback more justice.

Thanks for you're initial impressions, I'm glad they were positive and I'm looking forward to getting more feedback!

Damnit, that looks awesome. But damn if it doesn't make me want some kind of Every Extend game on iOS.

Anyone know if there is? I'd be surprised if not.

Thanks! I really love psychedelic poster art, and I was going for a similar style. The aesthetic for this game actual first started out as inspiration from the awesome Game Of Thrones wolf poster that someone posted.

i've got 5 more codes to give out for Love Me Not, hidden in this post, just quote to reveal.
I've also got some codes for Blast Ball and Haunted Hallway, exclusively for Gaf Gold® members only.

Got the fifth Love Me Not, Thanks.

Edit: Typically these kind of games stress me out, but I really got into a groove with this one. I like being able to use the sides of pedals without firing them to get out of tight spots. The motion controls took a bit of getting used to, but it didn't take too long.

Tapping the pedals was the biggest challenge, as it was constantly rotating, but that could just be my initial lack of precision. Overall I dig it. The music is quite chill too. Thanks for the code. I'll spread the word.

Also side note, I play Blast Ball before class each day since it came out, and am really enjoying that as well. Great work!

Thanks, grabbed a code and playing it now. Pretty unique concept to me as bobs said.

A little suggestion: Maybe have the heart be something you tap to use after you shoot it? Accidentally shooting the heart while trying to shoot a bug hurts your progress a bit.

I picked up a blast ball and haunted hallway codes, I'll be sure leave reviews, thanks.

My game Love Me Not is coming out tonight.

Love Me Not is inspired by the childhood game of picking the petals off of flowers to guess the interest of your crush. To play all you have to do is tilt your phone to spin the flower, and tap petals to shoot them.

http://youtu.be/cJtEN96-yMM

I've got a few promo codes to give out early, the first 4 to quote this post gets one!

Thanks for the code. I was able to play it a bit today. Initially, I wasn't too taken with it. I was having trouble hitting the petals, at times the wrong one was going and I'd end up missing.

My problem was that I was tapping too far down the petal (oh, and a big finger.) Squared away, I gave it another go and, tapping more toward the end of the petal and finding much better success, it started to grow on me.

I'd say it was a pretty good game. I'm not a big fan of using the motion controls but that is no mark at all against your game. It was functional, had some nifty art and I'm sure it's right up a few folks in here's collective alley.

Thanks again and sorry I didn't get back a faster response.

I don't understand.so the 2nd Gauge works automatically? So whatis happening when I touch "2nd Gauge" on the screen? Cos it's killing me.

You control the 1st gauge with clicking on the right side of the screen and you control the 2nd gauge with clicking on the left side. Click and it goes more out, let go and it goes more in. With 2 gauges you have to have better hand-eye-coordination. ;)

I had no idea you could control both gauges. I've been playing with one finger! Thanks.

“Always remember – look both ways before crossing…” he added, “Particularly if you’re playing Carmageddon on your mobile at the same time…”

Carmageddon will be made available to download on app stores across the globe this Summer.

I'm digging Heroes Call. The cooldown between quests isn't affecting me yet because I've been playing it in bite-sized chunks but even if it did affect me, I'd just replay quests for gold until the new quest became available. A cool little distraction.

Fuck me that's awesome.

CARMAGEDDONNNNN!! My god that game was the shit when I was a kid, cannot wait for it. Always like Carma 2 the best, but I can go for some sprite based massacring too I guess :)

So is Galaxy on Fire 2 any good on the iPhone?

It's just popped up on my appshopper wishlist as being on sale for $0.99.

I've got an iPhone 4 currently if it matters.

Another question about Chaos Rings 2: is the map/dungeon layout improved from the first one? I found it pretty difficult to get around in Chaos Rings 1 (I particularly remember trying to use the map on the first dungeon, and getting pretty pissed).

Not sure what was confusing about the maps in the originals, but the maps are pretty straightforward in this game.

Just a heads up :

Inferno+ is lulling you into a false sense of accomplishment.
Come New Game+ your ass is getting handed to you.

Don't say you were not warned.

The HD version is brilliant. Probably not as impressive as on ipad, but still looks and plays really well. Definitely worth a buck. I only have HD though..
