The Hori Fighting Edge doesn't fit in any of the Mad Catz bags :(

I found a cool bag for it at the airport though!

Everybody's got a price!

heya markman is there anyway to get replacement screws for the top of a TE? One of the screws had the top part break off.

and I have no willpower so I'll probably getting a ps3 fighting edge (since its hori buttons and I dont want the mult-colors).

What is that bag mark?

Go to a hardware store with one of the other 6 screws. My TE had rusty screws so i went to a hardware store and bought 6 stainless steel scews with the hex gate key like the te scews.

ooh ok I was thinking they were special screws or something. thanks!

Going to get every single EXAR stick I could find. I got the KOF one recently, and have the Sanwa coming soon. About to pick up the TvC stick as well. The casing, Astro City/Noir layout and stick placement is exactly what I'm looking for in a arcade stick. My favorite stick since the VSHG. What's very strange about the KOF EXAR stick is that it has SANWA switches for some of the buttons. And OMIRON switches for the stick. The PCB board is something Markman and other stick lovers would love. Very clean and label. Still going to put a paewong PCB board, full Sanwa buttons and a legit Sanwa stick. Nothing wrong with the stock stick, but would like to avoid any problems in the future if somehow the stick fails.

Is there any EXAR sticks I should be aware of besides the ones I mentioned? I know about the GG one coming soon, and I'm getting that badboy. Oh, heres a in depth look and MOD on the EXAR stick over at SRK.

Yes boss! You the man homie! Thanks :) Getting that blue one for sure. Looks like I'm dropping some cash come August. GGXAC stick, and the blue EXAR stick :) Going to add some weight to this sticks as well.

Hey guys. I have a few questions.

I switched out this T5 stick into a full Sanwa, except for the two red dummy buttons, and the 24mm buttons. I also changed the PS2 PCB into a PS3 from an old FS3.

The two buttons on the right side panel currently control Start and Select. The Home button was switched to a small button on the left side panel. This effectively eliminates the actual start and select buttons on the top panel.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to elegantly get rid of those two dead 24mm buttons on the top panel? I don't want to use hole plugs, I don't think they look good. Removing them would just leave holes. I'm happy with it right now, unless a better idea comes along.

My second question:

Does anyone have a link or knowledge about the various lengths of Sanwa, Seimitsu, and Fanta sticks, below the mount? I'm looking to drop a Fanta into this:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004DFDVWW/?tag=neogaf0e-20

(I'll change the distance between the joystick and buttons). But I know the Sanwa will bottom out without further modification. So I'm hoping a Fanta will fit in there. There is a K-Stick that is shorter than the rest,

http://etokki.com/Arcade-Joysticks/Crown-CWJ-303N-Clear-White

But I don't know exactly how much shorter it would be than a Sanwa or Seimitsu.

If I can get a Taeyoung Fanta in there, that would be ideal.

The other option is just putting the Fanta into an HRAP, where it should fit, and throwing an extra Sanwa I have into that garbage stick I ordered, with extra modification.

You can cover it all up with artwork (even those two dummy buttons if you would rather them not be there) if you plan to change it out down the line.

NO.

Don't do that. Treat that cord with care because the part where the shielding connects to the stick WILL come out and your cord might undergo actual damage afterward.

So there is an issue with the cord being pulled out of the socket that connects it to the internal PCB?

I guess the coiling does tug on the connection.

I always make sure to give enough about 3 inches of slack before wrapping the cord around my stick during tourneys or times where I need to GTFO out the playing station.

I wish I would of start doing that earlier with my old HRAP. :(

I've actually had this done for about a week, but I never got around to taking the picture due to other stuff.

Anyhow MANLY PICTURE TIIIIIIIIME!!!!!!!

My eagerness to use this is what got me back into playing Marvel in spite of deadlines and what lead to me getting a solid team going with Arthur/Iron Fist/Taskmaster. Dem armored daggers make Iron Fist feel immortal as he wave dashes up them into people's face through their projectiles.

Soooo love my new stick art.

That's some sexy art, Shao!

Who/what did you use to print the art out?

Thanks! I really love how it came out.

I went through Art's hobbies online for the print of my art. I worked in Photoshop to create the art off of my avatar, and "The Immortal Ironfist" comic series text logo. My wife though surprised me one day and showed me that she had vector traced everything for cleaner effects and had even messed around with background patterns. We worked together off her stuff and my own ideas and added borders and tweaked the layout and bevel settings. We also added off her idea the Kanji for "Iron Fist" to the stick that often appeared on the comics.

I'm thinking about taking my experience in painting fiberglass helmets and working with armor from my cosplay days and using to custamize my ball top. Sand it, prime, custom paint his mask on the ball, then clear coat it smooth using car grades of clear coat.

It'd be fun, but I doubt I got the time. I do have the extra ball top though from my ponystick (switched to a purple top :3 ) to mess with for this idea. I know theres some dudes on shoryuken selling custom painted balls and I'm easily better than that as a painter so its definitely on my "to do" list. If it pans out and I get time to do it I'll post pics.

Just got a UPS notification stating that my PS3 Fighting EDGE will be here on Monday via Hori (USA). That was a bit earlier than I expected!

Wait, so the things will be here monday, or they will ship monday?

My girlfriend bought it as a gift, and she won't tell me when it ships. :/ lol

That is really awesome art shadowebb.

Im shaowebb not shadowebb lol.
Shadowebb is my ultimate form, but it requires 5 bars and dark resurrection to activate.
Dont feel bad. This is probably the seventh time I've posted this exact statement. Its now canon that I have an ultimate form due to this lol. I think the last time was in the Tank! Tank! Tank! thread...

I mostly post my pics in the srk thread, but I thought I'd share my collection here. I'm feeling that iron fist template shaowebb. Aside from the usual, there's a couple of tek cases, a project giant sword, sapphire 8 arc, korean omni, norris arcade stick, and a painted foe hammer older diy case.

As someone with experience with Korean sticks, would you say they have a higher or lower length below the mount compared to a Sanwa? I'm trying to find out if a Fanta will bottom out in a certain box when a Sanwa definitely already does.

Awwww yeah. Dat Iron Fist stick bringin' da manly.

That Etokki Omni is sexy. I think I got the last of the Japanese and Korean versions of the bunch since it's now out of stock. But it's for the best (for something special on the internets). ;)

Measurement pictures by Per at akihabarashop.jp. When mounted, the black ring should stand up about 2mm from the panel as shown in the third picture. Good luck!

It's the part where the cord shielding connects to the rubber stump that passes it through the case wall. It'll break off with wear. The actual PCB connection is further inside and that'll be fine, but it won't mean much when the cable is broken midway.

I used to figure I was taking "good enough" care until it happened to me... on both of my HRAPs. I ended up getting both modded to have detachable cords.

Okay, now I'm a bit confused - I just got -another- UPS email on behalf of Hori USA. Different tracking number, ETA on this one is 6/27. I went back and checked the first email, and the status on it is still "Ready for pickup". Sounds like someone done goofed up.

Hey guys. Sorry to throw pictures everywhere, but I wanted to share some thoughts on this Playtech Pro-Arcade Fighting Stick. I think it is Model # POS

My first impressions are that it is actually pretty heavy. I took it apart and there are 2 weights stuck in there.

I've heard that installing a sanwa will scratch the bottom plate, but what I didn't know is that applying any force at all to the area around the built-in joystick will also scratch the plate. It actually rubs the bottom with the stock stick! So I did what any self respecting person would do, and rubbed the crap out of it.

Sorry about the image quality and hand marks.

EjbJK.jpg

The playtech is to the left of the HRAP3. Given the size, you'd think it would be light, but it's heavier by a bit. The balltop is pretty cheap.

U6Noe.jpg

A pleasant surprise was how ergonomic this layout is. It sound ridiculous, but having my left forearm perpendicular to the front edge of the box allows my hand to reach and maintain the bottom position on the stick. On other sticks, I have to change the angle of my wrist. This may also be because I play on the first 6, and not the last 6. The Playtech is about as long as the HRAP.

b2vEE.jpg

Here's a shot of the stick, with all the debris that came off from mashing the bottom plate. It's a Sanwa clone. It has metal parts and quick disconnects, which is very surprising. I will keep it in there once I sand down the bottom panel.

6SAlG.jpg

Bottom panel. You can see the two large weights, and the spot where the joystick rubbed. The raised button spots are there because the PCB is pressure sensitive, as you can see here....

7FOhP.jpg

It has two harnesses. There isn't actually any solder spots on the pcb other than under those harnesses. I haven't decided if this will make it easier or tougher to switch out the buttons. Which are shitty, by the way.

The stupid thing always has 3 LEDs flashing while playing on the PS3, which is annoying.

I'll see what I can do with it.

Bah,

I want impressions! Particularly from a shooter fan. Soon enough!

It looks like the buttons are of the rubber membrane variety - where pushing a button down bridges the traces on that larger PCB. If you intend to replace the buttons and keep the stock PCB, you would just chuck the larger PCB entirely and run the buttons directly into those wires that formerly ran into it (8 signal wires, and one ground, it looks like).

It might be worth just replacing the PCB with a Cthulhu or something, honestly.

Cthulhu would be good, but I'm not sure how serious I'm going to get with this thing.

You did give me a great idea, though. Removing the large PCB and spending some time drilling may allow me to put a cup holder in that giant space between the stick and buttons. For all the juice I like to drink while playing.

UPS sent me an email yesterday saying I should expect my Fighting Edge next week. Today I get another email from UPS with different shipping info saying I should expect another package from Hori. I hope they didn't send me 2 sticks because I don't want to be charged for another (they already took their money last month).

Update on Fighting EDGE saga: got an email stating the first shipment was cancelled. The package on the second tracking number I got actually entered the UPS system at 8:20 PM in Gardena, CA. Still estimated to get here Wednesday. Just guessing someone jumped the gun and created labels before the product was actually ready to ship out.

I think it looks cute. Nice color combination. Rather expensive at 13000-15000 yen, though.

Also, I picked up another Qanba stick from arcade shock. Now I've got two Qanbas and two eightarcs! Slowly getting other sticks outside of Hori/MC!
