The levels are so short that I feel like checkpoints would be borderline cheating. I'm really not sure how the controls could have been done better, aside from supporting a physical controller. (I forget, does Clive support moving controls to the middle rather than the bottom for handheld iPad users?)
Beat me to it. I'm also very much looking forward to it. Don't have an iPad, so this will be my first opportunity to check it out.
Tone Sphere ($0.99) is out, for all those rhythm gamers in tha house

Q:Will I need to purchase songpacks in order to fully enjoy the game?
A:All songs are included in the app and you can play everything without any DLC purchases. Additional songs are going to be updated as well.
kingdom rush should only be played as: HD version. I can't see it playing on the smaller screen at all

Daaaaamn this is one sexy rhythm game!
It's beautiful and fun, and I really like the music. There's a ton of songs. The graphics are crisp on my "new iPad", and I love how not only the background changes, but the notes you are supposed to hit move around too. A pleasant surprise for sure.

I am just so happy at how polished this is.

Those graphics look lovely but jesus fuck that music sounds bad. Why can't someone make one of these games for people other than jpop nutcases?

Bug Princess 2 Black Label is up in the UK App Store.
£9.99 with two in game purchases. No Lite version at the moment.
whats the deal with this game? slight tweaks? pretty much the same game?
Oh....that old 'Nintendo' mentality eh?
What's the best podcast that deals with iOS games?
Touch Arcade?
You lost me there...

If you want a sneak peak. There's a mode that they left out of the iPhone/iPad versions apparently, because it wasn't feasible on a touch screen device, don't know if it's that big a deal.

Just tried sonic 4 episode 2 lite on new ipad. Goddamn this game is all kinds of ugly.
does anyone remember Capcom announcing they were remaking the rest of the Phoenix Wright games in HD and releasing them on iOS? whatever happened to that
No.
Loud, unentertaining, uninformed. Bad. Really bad.
Edit: Decided to listen to it on the train the other week because they had Zach Gage on. The entire time the host yelled, called everyone, "My man," over and over, made a constant, unfunny joke about Zach Gage not having a company name and didn't ask him about the games he was actually working on (which are many). It was offensive, probably the worst gaming-related podcast I've ever heard, which is saying something because I'll download and listen to anything while I do housework if they're interviewing someone I like.
Possibly mentioned but RayForce (the 1993 2D Taito shmup) is on sale and it is a *solid* port. Great game as well. Some mind-blowing 2D stuff going on considering the year it was released, especially. Holds up magnificently.

Tone Sphere for 99 cents seems like a steal if it has that much content. Tried it for a bit and the harder songs on normal are actually pretty hard. My only complain so far is that there's no indication to tell you if you got a perfect/good/bad on a note.
You don't want async in games because you personally like to have people there with you. Nintendo doesn't put online it it's games because they think everyone has someone to play with. The mentality that people will be better off without an online option is a step backwards. Every multiplayer game should have async play or some form of online system.

Are there any like arcade gun shooting type games for iPad? I mean the kind of games you play in an arcade where you hold the gun, obviously no gun for iPad but whatever.
Thanks
I feel the exact same way. It feels wrong for an iPhone version to even exist...
How does this compare to other somewhat similar games on iOS like Cytus (pretty good), OSU (bad), or Rerave (so-so)? Eh, it's a whole dollar... I'll find out myself.
rhythm games that don't follow the beat of the music seem pointless, that trailer for tone sphere seemed to indicate it was one of those games
ArcherCatI could do with something new to play this weekend, whilst I'm stuck at a wedding.
Anyone got any suggestions for something 'grindey', preferably with XP and loot? I was playing (and enjoying) Heroes Call on iPad but I'm pretty much done with that one and I won't get a chance to transfer my save to my phone anyway.
I'm not too fussed about the style of the game, I just want something quick and simple that I can grind away at, preferably working towards some larger goal. Any suggestions appreciated.
(grinding away at something quick and simple is also my dating technique)
ArcherCat
You're a cat, you have to shoot things, it requires a bit of strategy with your skills. It has random loot, enchanting and crafting. Really stupidly simple but I've put about ten hours into it mainly through grinding to get better gear.
Also it's free.

I haven't tried ReRave, but I have a hard time understanding how osu! Is worse than Cytus. If anything, Cytus is bottom of the barrel on my list because of its rather severe timing issues.
It follows the beat just fine. Actually, it does a better job of syncing to the music than most music games n the market from the five songs I've played so far, though judgement is a bit lenient.
I thought the Monster Bash (Pinball Arcade) table was free this week...I guess not.
Yeah, Cytus's timing window is quite generous, but I still enjoyed it. My problem with OSU! relates to your other response. Playing OSU felt like tapping random plain dots on a plain screen while decent to bad music happened to be playing in the background. Good base mechanics, but OSU has no character and the tapping has little connection to the music. Maybe it's improved since I played the game. (Rerave has a similar dull, no style experience.)
