Extinction Squad was a game that I loved-but one of the achievements was glitched and I could never get it to unlock-and another one (bouncing the whale 20 times) was impossible-I got so frustrated by this achievement that I just deleted the game outright...

Not impossible, just very very difficult. The achievement should've been somewhere in the 15 - 17 range. After 17 it's just luck if you happen to bounce the whale.

A failed iPad 3 jailbreak left me having to restore my iPad. That particularly sucks because my primary Internet source is a Verizon MiFi card, and my only backup is on iCloud.

Anyway, I bought the Regular Show app just for fun since I'm a fan of the show... Wouldn't recommend it, lol. Despite reviews, it's very shallow, and not particularly fun.

Haha, I thought it was fun. Not much to it but I'm such a huge fan of the show I can be easily entertained by it.

I just really wanted an "OOOOOOOHHHHH!!!" sound effect in the game, and didn't get it. :(

Asphalt 6 didn't have a paywall, for what it's worth. Just coins to unlock cars, which could easily be earned through career mode.

Asphalt 6 started as a non IAP game though, that stuff was added in over time.

Assphalt 7 is fully built around it in a way, with the bars of stars and cash along the top of the menu system it looks like a fucking free to play game even if it's not playing like one...

Hot Springs Story for 99 cents, yes or not?

I've only played Game Dev Story and Mega Mall Story.

If you don't have this already, there's no excuse now. This game is MIGHTY EXCELLENT.

Yep, that's a must download. Better than the sequel if you ask me.

How come Lost Winds has performance issues on iPad2? It's a nice looking game for sure but I don't remember it having any slowdown on Wii. Sloppy port? I'm not going to play through it again, and if I did I'd do it on Wii instead, but I thought I'd check it out since it's free. The controls seem okay to me contrary to some people's comments. You swipe your finger for the wind gusts or tap on a location to have the character walk there or hold and tap to keep moving to that direction. Alternatively you can use a virtual stick for that. It's not as good as on Wii but it's good enough to finish it, it's a pretty relaxed game with slow character movement, the core of it is the wind gusts. People should check it and the sequel out on whatever platform they can have it for.

Endless runners are kind of interesting. It seems fairly easy to make an enjoyable one, but impossible to make a great one. I never really feel fully satisfied after playing one. It almost needs another dynamic or two to really elevate the genre.

I really like Zombie Parkour Runner. It's not exactly and endless runner though. Auto-runner and level based.

I 3 star'd all the levels. Sometimes I erase it and put it back on to redo everything. Something about it is so charming to me. I enjoy playing it.

Pinball Arcade is the free app of the week. How is it?

Think of it more as an evolving platform. It's goal is to be the truest recreation of actual pinball tables, and it's well on its way there. All sorts of classic tables will be simulated by it, in fact, most of the top 10 tables on www.ipdb.org will make their way over.

Every month they add a bunch of fixes, and new tables (2 a month). Next month will see gamecenter support so that's pretty exciting.

It's been a bit of a bumpy ride so far, but things should get better. If you're interested in playing real pinball tables (and don't have thousands to purchase them with, or time to go to pinball conventions), it's the best choice you have available, with generally unsurpassed physics as well. Definitely worth keeping an eye on, especially 6-12 months down the road, when lots more tables are added and bugs are ironed out.

For some reason I seem to remember hearing that in the game. Guess I'm mixing the game up with the show.

Yeah, that one is fun. That song gets stuck in my head too.

Well, that was quick. :lol Addicting and polished game as expected, will still play for fun and higher scores.

Thanks for the explanation! Since one table is included free, I'll give it a try. I'm very bad with pinball games though. However, I liked playing 3D Space Cadet Pinball a long time ago.

I've only played Game Dev Story and Mega Mall Story.

That one is again completely different than Game Dev and Mega Mall. Its more like a city builder (although you build rooms inside a building). Still is the same "shape" as a city builder if you wish. Its interesting and if you'd like the subject of game (building some vacation resort with baths and all that) you might like it. I however prefer Oh! Edo Town.

EDIT: actually, why don't you try its lite version?

Project 83113. Not exactly an endless runner, but is probably the game you're looking for.

Ahhh didn't know there were lite versions. Thanks!

Z-day is free its great imteractive zombie apocalypse graphic novel. Most of you guys prob allready have it. Any word on the act is it any good?

The Gamecenter name and your Hero Academy name are different. You don't need a Facebook account-you can play random games-or send invites to your friends, or type in a specific user name.

How asinine. I won't even bother.

The tables look much better with 'Post-processing' enabled, but the framerate chugs, sadly. When you turn that off, the game doesn't look that great but plays very smoothly.

I hate to say it because I'm a fan of this developer, but Yesterday was a let down. Way too short, not enough time to really let the characters grow on you, story starts out interesting but quickly loses steam. Just a disappointing game. :-(

Just finished. Well, I liked it!

It was short and sweet for me. You can finish it in under 5 hours, and I understand this is a problem for most people, but it wasn't for me since nowadays I prefer shorter games. True, the characters aren't as fleshed out as they could be, but I still liked the story. It's very intriguing, and I dig the dark, noir atmosphere. Here's hoping for a sequel
hopefully one that picks up after the "bad" ending.

All in all, it was worth it for the story and atmosphere, for me. For $5 I definitely recommend it if you like the genre. Reviews were very polarized though, so people should think carefully before buying it.

Well I'm glad you liked. Coming from their other games I was expecting much more. I did like the story at first and the settings were nice. Like you said, it has that noir atmosphere to it in parts.

Velocirapture is great.

Surprised how well Lost Winds works. Very relaxing, charming game. Will have to check out the sequel.

ass as in 30fps or dips to rather low rates? the game is locked to 30 on iOS

Just played the lite version again on my iPad 2. I'll take back my ass statement because it's not unplayable and the framerate is mostly constant but it's definitely not locked at 30. Like I said before, I'm thinking it's somewhere around the 20 fps range with some severe dips whenever you get hit. Not a pleasant framerate but it won't eyefuck you. Also, I thought the game controlled well but I still don't like it since I'm tired as fuck of Sonic.

Bug Princess 2 Black Label will be releasing tomorrow, per the official web site. Regular pricing is $13.99/£9.99/€10.99, but it sounds like it'll be launching at a sale price, as usual. Thanks to Zeth for the heads up.

Tone Sphere ($0.99) is out, for all those rhythm gamers in tha house
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tone-sphere/id532046195?mt=8&ls=1

Thanks for the heads up. Had a quick go this morning before getting ready for work - as I thought from the trailers, it seems to prioritize looking good over solid mechanics. Also, the note charts I played had several patterns that showed up in one arrangement, then changed to another arrangement a split second before you're expected to execute them. Cheap shot.
