People are still complaining about a charger which you can get for less than 5 bucks from ebay?

That's not what objectivity means.

Oh no, please don't let there be a defense force for this. Please no.

I cannot wrap my head around why Nintendo would think it would be a good idea to not include a charger with a new electronic device.
I'm in 'merica so this doesn't affect me but it still confuses me.
Nintendo is currently focused on returning to profitability, so cost-cutting measures in their products isn't too surprising. People often say that panic-mode Nintendo is best Nintendo, but it never is for the consumer. If you can get it for less than $5 how cheap do you think Nintendo can get them in bulk? It's purely a cheap as shit move by Nintendo to not include something as essential as a charger just to save a few cents, and defending it is just sad. Glad NOA had some sense at least.
Can't wait for the European Wii U to come bundled only with one Pro controller.![]()
Gotta cut those costs, dude. HDMI cord and power cable sold separately. That'd be awesome, for the pure fact that there's not a chance in hell that the Wii U will come bundled with a pro controller in any region, ever.
Wow.Not sure if this point has been mentioned already: not selling the AC adapter with every console is better for the environment.
Wow.
I really hope Nintendo PR takes this angle as well.
Anyway, what about the additional packaging materials used for the adapter and cradle boxes?

Probably nowhere enough to make a significant difference. I guess we'll see soon enough.Yep, this and the fuel needed for the delivery guy to put your package in your mailbox.
There's no real sense with this this whole 'no adapter' thing, NO SENSE!
The only answer I could think of is money, but if you concider all the people that won't buy it because of this shitty decision, all in all I'd say they're losing money instead of saving some.
Hey guys I am new here!!
Nice to meet you all!!
About the 3ds xl all I want is proof that graphics dont stretch and then Dream Drop here I come!!!!!

'Twas a joke, my friend.Do you even understand what the Wii U Pro Controller is?
It's an optional accessory if you want 360 style control.
wow, I can't believe anyone would defend this. It's a stupid move for Nintendo to do there's no excuse for them not to include an AC adapter for every territory. Not sure if this point has been mentioned already: not selling the AC adapter with every console is better for the environment.
I'm not trying to defend their decision, but if Nintendo think there is a sizeable amount of potential buyers that already have the adapter, why would they package them with every unit? It might be more convenient for consumers, but it's also a waste of resources for a device that, in the end, will just become electronic waste anyway.
Haha, gotta love the new members and their energy. You just greeted everyone in the middle of a heated discussion .Hey guys I am new here!!

I think it's a temporary thing. When Nintendo's business recovers, I would hazard a guess that they'll introduce new SKU's with the charger and cradle included at no extra cost to the consumer. It just doesn't make sense from anything other than a financial point of view not to include an AC charger.Yeah I don't know either, though I'm glad NoA made the right choice.
I mean, even if it wouldn't have an adapter I already have one from my original 3DS, I'd buy it anyway. Honestly I don't know if this will be a gamechanger at some point where it could affect sales statistics (I don't think so imo) but the facts are that its just plain dumb not to include an adapter for an electronical device that needs to be charged.
I can get behind their logic that future 3DS XL buyers already have a DSi or 3DS, and thus don't need an AC adapter.
The epic fail in this logic though, is that people who own a DS or 3DS may very likely want to resell their previous handle to buy the new one.
Are we supposed to resell our handheld without an AC adapter?
I'm not concerned by this, as my 1st 3DS was stolen, and so I have 2 AC adapters. But it's a bad, shortsighted move. Good luck with that at retail, and get prepared to staff your hotline Nintendo.

...Where they are slipping, however, is in expecting the consumer, who has been conditioned to expect a charger with every electronic purchase they make, to remember to pick it up for an extra cost (no matter how small)...
Either you sell it without an AC adapter, in which case the buyer buys a new one/uses an existing one, or you sell it with an AC adapter and you buy a new one.
In 2 out of 3 cases, Nintendo will make money from selling an AC adapter.
It's not nice but it is clever.
Not sure if you mean me, but considering you addressed me initally: It's just my opinion, guy, it's not some fact I'm trying to pass off. I'm not dismissing anything because I don't care enough to get riled up about stupid shit like this. I bought the machine for the Nintendo games and niche Japanese games it's going to get and considering I mostly seem to play B-tier games, I explore the depths of these platforms pretty deeply and that's just what I come up with. The funny thing is I don't have a Vita, nor do I plan to buy one, I just think that both platforms have a really iffy lineup right now. For my tastes, there's a few good, big name games on the 3DS with a few decent strays and a slightly larger list of good B-tier titles on the Vita and neither of which has had any decent software in the US in months except for Gravity Rush which is like the singular major original Vita title, anyhow.
That's my current reading of things and honestly...if you can't cope with that, then tough shit, really. I didn't want this to become some thing, it's totally not the right thread for it. I was just making a one off response to one fellow. If I didn't like the platform, I wouldn't own one and I wouldn't be wanting to buy the XL, as well.
The actual important thing for me concerning the library 3DS is that I think it'll be in a much better place by the end of the year and I plan to double the amount of games I own, at least, but yes for now I think it's been pinned down by it's early rockiness and the fact that it's still a fairly new machine. I just really hope Etrian Odyssey 4 gets announced shortly for localization. That's really my current number one want.
