Kishi does them really well. And if you add context, the stuff in Bleach isn't even that emotional. And if it is, it's the cut-my-wrist type.
Pretty much. Crying faces don't even really matter unless there's a context behind it in some form or another. Anytime a character cries in Bleach it's pretty much for complete garbage that makes no emotional sense that is applicable to the storyline whatsoever. In Naruto character cry like every panel cause everyone so fucking emo in the storyline so it works. In One Piece, characters either cry for comedic/manly tears, or you get something like the Luffy thing which Luffy is sad because Ace is dead (it being cartoony barely matters, cause it has context and a story behind it, unlike anytime a character cries in Bleach). I'm not sure why this is even a thing in the first place tbh.

Medaka Box 56:

Did... Did Kumagawa just stab himself in the head with a giant screw, and then just walk off!? I think this needs to be renamed to Kumagawa Box.

Blue Exorcist 37
This arc was so short. I guess they could do a second season to animate to more arcs, for an anime, but thats probably extremely wishful thinking.

The middle half was probably already discussed, I guess it could just be because of the Mimicry Spit that the characters have obscured figures so the sketchy appearance of the character models enhances the immersion created by it? I think it looked kind of stylish.

Anyway, lovely Yukio Rin brotherly development, I enjoyed it. I will miss being at the beach :(

Guns looking as detailed as those in Jormungand, nice.

There is no cancelled and not cancelled. There's only 1 more cour (as in 12-13 episodes) planned, so it's probably going to cover the flask plan arc and that's it. This is Gainax we're talking about; they wouldn't do a long-running show unless season 2 somehow exploded in sales (doubtful since season 1 bombed).

To be fair, Medaka Box was originally dead on arrival, hence the early genre change. So I'm not sure who thought an anime version of that initial arc would be popular. And the series didn't really get popular at all until Kumagawa appeared. So perhaps that'll stay true for the anime too lol.

But if Kumagawa appears at all in the second season it will be for 2 seconds at the end. It sucks, because he really is the reason Medaka Box became popular. But they have to go through so much stuff to get to him.

The horrible sales of season 2, if it follows season 1's pattern, will likely kill any chance of getting a season 3 with Kumagawa.

Kumagawa is awesome but he's like my third favourite character after Zenkichi and Shiranui

On that subject, Shiranui has been criminally underused this arc. I was hoping with her on Medaka's team she'd get some more panel time.

If nothing else, I hope season 2 ends with the group finding the people Kumagawa one-shotted and him saying "It wasn't me" right before it cuts to a big "TO BE CONTINUED" or "THE END" card.

Well it also aired at like 2 AM, so I don't think they ever expected it to do that well.

Tail Star 5

A bit conflicted on the series five chapters in. Its pretty intense with the methods of injury and deaths for characters, but I like the aspect of it being the two kids fighting and the actual change this chapter. I don't like stories to get a bit too mature as it becomes difficult to embrace them, but I guess I want to see Sanagi successful, so I guess Ill stick with it.

The flashback was kind of dull except for the one part where they were found together, which I hope is clarified, as well as his powers.

actually made me chuckle. the girl the mc made the promised to is obviously neither since that girl had brown hair and the blonde is blonde and the japanese has black hair.

edit: i knew it.

rapid improvement with the faces.

Yamada

Once again, kissing solves nothing! Gotta get a new trick, Yamada.

oh man what a cliffhanger. I hope we're getting into a more magical territory here. So far its threading a lot of the same stories that Yankee did. Its really enjoyable so far but I want something a bit different. I've also noticed it seems to be more popular than Yankee over all. good news for sure. i hope to see one or the other animated at one point.

To be fair, the only thing in Bleach that's remotely sad is Ichigo's mother. Damsels in distress like Rukia/Orohime being trapped only deserve this much:

Coupled with the Will of the Heart track.

Yeah, Bleach is definitely emotional.

/sarcasm. Beam can't even deny this. When Kubo's goal is to make Bleach look cool, something's else is definitely gonna suffer. And that's what makes it your typical cool awesome sword-slashy animu. It's no wonder how there's a lot of fans here, especially when you throw it on stations like YTV.

I don't remember anything about Ichigo's mother other than a hollow allegedly killed her and her whole family had angst about it.

Fairy tail

God damn it. Which jerald guy is which again? Fuck this manga.

And isn't lucy always in a skirt?

The whole Jellal thing wouldn't have bugged me so much if "Gerard" didn't make way more sense =V

Lucy doesn't exist for any reason other than fanservice, so yeah, she's always in a skirt. The story seems to be implying something bad is going to happen to her, but nothing bad ever really happens in Fairy Tail so it will be something not that interesting like her keys get taken away by Zeref or something.

I think they're supposed to address what really happened in this final arc. But until then, poorly handled. Wasted potential to show something decent.

Burned? Its not a Usagi Drop ending going by the spoilers. I doubt people actually felt jaded enough to not pick up her new series. Which is really good by the way,
Usagi Drop HAD an ending, even if it sucked. Nothing really happened in Yankee-kun's ending.

Well, it wasn't in the top 30 for its release week, at least, so that's less than 27,092 copies.

Probably too soon to tell how ominious that is for the series.

I'd wager that the series is disappropotionately more popular with English audiences though.

I'm trying to find where it charted in the weekly sales charts. Wish I knew moon runes.

Have people picked up Medaka Box? I haven't noticed a rise in popularity. In fact its probably down. Nothing will top the Minus Arc.

Medaka Box's sales have actually gradually but slowly risen over the last two years.

I wish there was a database where we could quickly look this up. Manga volume sales are definitely much higher now. 150-200k per volume

I'm probably wrong but I just remember Medaka Box being discussed way more frequently before the election and current arc.

Well, as long as you're willing to do a bit of digging around, the Oricon rankings archives aren't that hard to navigate. They've got full weekly top 30 sales data going back to early 2008.

I liked Medaka Box a lot more before the genre shift, but that's mostly because I was mostly "caught up" by the time the genre shift occurred, so it was a lot more nonsensical, random and off-putting.

The first genre shift? In rereading I've grown to like the first volume for what it is. A parody of the school comedy and for the foreshadowing.

Question: Do you consider Beelzebub a delinquent manga?

As I have mentioned before in regards to Drifters, I love Jeanne d'Arc, so her being on the cover makes me rather happy. Now, what would seem will happen to her in the next volume, based on the plans talked about in this one, isn't making me much happy.
The school's director is a troubling individual. I can't decide if he's a cunning asshole or an idiot.
End of volume makes me really curious both in regards to Pandora as well as Shiro.
