I listed a few issues I have in broad strokes, but it appears you think I'm attacking you. Do you think you're part of the group I'm talking about?
The FGC itself has always been based on face-to-face competition. That competition has changed with online connectivity, and that's fine, but it doesn't change the fact that the roots of this community as a whole exist based around the idea of gathering together. But now, unlike before, there's a subculture of people who don't seem to actually give a fuck about the community, and treat it like it's wrestling. And that's some serious bullshit. And now the fighting game community is churning out "pop stars" like the fucking disney channel. It's not about the games, it's not about the community, it's about becoming internet famous. And that shit will become a cancer to the scene.
I get that there are people who simply can't come out. They have things that come up and it just isn't possible for them. But the group of people I have an issue with are the same ones who are fueling this pop star shit, and are the ones that will NEVER contribute anything to the community. Ever. And if you're part of that group, then you're part of the problem.
