Added new video in the OP that shows only the important bits (gameplay).

This one, really looks like concept art in motion. Game looks amazing.

Saw the comic-con panel and all I have to say is WOW...the game sounds more and more awesome every time we hear something new about it - so much love and care by 343i. <3

Also the game looks absolutely crazy visually, add to that a very good IQ (finally!) in a Halo game with a higher res framebuffer and FXAA and you wonder how the hell they achieved that with the old ass 360 hardware - some amazing stuff from 343.

BTW the flag assassination animation is the closest thing that I've ever seen to the awesomeness of Obliteration Techniques (Ninja Gaiden 2), in other words that was fuckin' amazing!

Holy shit. This game is gorgeous.

Any word one what movie this will be in front of? I could postpone Batman a week to see this on the screen...

They're showing that as a trailer in movie theaters? It seems like a combination of a documentary and a desperate plea to people that "See? Games are legitimate entertainment, just like movies!!!! You gotta believe me! Please!!!"

i still find it hard to comprehend a halo game with good graphics. im just so used to setting the bar low with bungie.

Reach is pretty good looking in the main, but not on these levels.
they've been alright, but never competitive or leading the pack.

god the music in op is amazing. im really reserved about halo 4, but i got to give it mad props when it comes to the graphics and music.

Its clearly evident that even when plans for a Halo movie fell throughg, MS really REALLY wants a studio to change there mind and invest in making a movie out of the franchise.

Trailer to sell the game, the numerous live action commercials and such.
I'd assume are nothing more than to try and interest someone in giving the game a film treatment.

I think we would use a device called a "rolodex" to avoid the cost and five year investment of your cunning theory.

I'm pre-ordering Batman tickets tomorrow, I planned to see it after a few days so the crowds die down. I can totally wait another week to see it for this trailer.

What I really want to know is if this trailer will be made available to people who don't feel like seeing a movie any time soon. Will it go to iTunes? Waypoint?

It has distribution limited by guild rules but there might be ways to distribute outside of theaters. This runs in ad blocks - Fandango, Coke etc, not in trailer reels.

When you can get somebody that dislikes Halo to get hyped for Halo, you know how to market games. I'm talking about myself.

"...but unlike films/movies that are a singular vision"

Well, that isn't true at all.

The point is that a movie is locked to the final cut - you can certainly get more out of a movie with successive watches, but it doesn't actually change - only your comprehension of it changes. And we're not saying one thing is better than the other, we're saying they have similarities, but that the primary difference is that the viewer isn't passive, but has agency.

It's hardly pretentious, it's just a simple comparison.

I never thought it was pretentious and I am fully aware that one will always offer the same content and approachability for the 1st to the 100th time versus an experience that is in flux and can be apporached differently. And I get that you seem to be using "cinematic" as a level of quality.

But the idea that one is anyless a collaborative effort than the other completely baffles me.
