That blue looks way, way better than I was expecting.

Back to my indecision over whether to get blue or red.

I'm in the same boat. I preordered red but the blue looks soooo, so mice in those unboxing videos. Red is seeming ostentatious, in comparison.

I had an Aqua Ambassador 3DS (traded in toward purple, performed system transfer) and the XL will be a companion to that one...

But red of blue? I like them both. Gah!

Didn't see this posted, so...

From 7/20/12 to 7/22/12, GameStop's offering double trade-in value for consoles. That means $100 for a 3DS. If you have Power Up Rewards, then it'll be $110. I wonder how that will compare to the inevitable 3DS-to-XL trade in deal.

The extra 10% of the PowerUp only applies to traded games/accesories, not hardware. Even if that was the case, it would be 10% of the original value ($50, so... $5), and not from the special/double value.

But that offer will be only valid from 07/20/12 - 07/22/12... It says so below the description. Anyway, I hope they have a similar deal for the launch on August 19th.

They won't offer $110 in August.

You can still trade it and use the credit to preorder a 3DS.


The only "problem" is that usually, Gamestop lowers the value around the time they start special offers like this one. So, they might be giving $50 for a 3DS now making it $100 with the offer, but they could lower it to $30 during that time so with the "double offer" the value would be $60.

man, all the footage looks fantastic. if there is any loss in image quality it's definitely not noticeable enough to bug me.

looks like it's a blue XL for me.

the only question is if I should keep my zelda 3DS around to play local wifi games with my wife and friends and farm streetpasses or sell it off.

Ocarina of Time 3D actually utilizes anti-aliasing in 2D mode, so it's not exactly the best reference point for evaluating pixelation.

You're really not going to tell the difference with a youtube video.
The pixels will be larger, and it will look different to some in the same way the DSi XL looked different than the DSi.

I personally really enjoyed how the DSiXL looked so I'm sure I will be pleased with this model despite the lower DPI.

You activate the transfer in the system settings and you have to accept the transfer at the same time, using the new unit. You then have Pikmin moving over your things, about 20+ minutes later, you switch SD cards and you're done. It was important to me, to not lose my ambassador games.

buy the XL from amazon.it for 150£

On another note, friend of mine was at SDCC and tried it out. She doesn't like it... says it doesn't feel as comfortable in her hands and prefers the smaller one. I think it's a cry for help and I need to get her into some sort of counseling before it's too late.

3DS game sizes are pretty small though, so on a 32GB SD card, it will likely take a while to fill it up. Resident Evil and MGS3D are the only two games over 2GB.

They are blue/black and red/black. The insides are both black but the outsides are blue or red. Both look kind of meh. Now yellow and black... that's something I can get behind.

Seriously. I find it really frustrating they take so long to release new colors, then release them all a couple months apart. I waited until red came out for 3DS (09/2011), then two weeks later they announced the PINK one, then again about a month after that they added purple, too. I still love my red one, but gimme a break. Let us know what colors are gonna be coming out beforehand!

I really want a 3DS XL, but I most definitely will be waiting until there are more colors (here's hoping for YELLOW!)
