Well this is the one reason I don't like gays because this does happen. I don't have a problem with them outside of that except for believing that only male and female should be together as intended.

I... wut?

They bring down the fibre of society and give children AIDS?

Their grilled chicken is dry. VERY dry, and so is the bun.

I can't eat the fried chicken, because it'll break me out. =\

I feel sorry for people who actually think they're missing out on something. It's like folks up in the northeast thinking Sonic Drive-In is worth a family trip. Let me save you some time- their shit. Living in Oklahoma we have every form of fast food joint and shit like Chick-fil-a and Sonic are bottom of the barrel.

Intended by the "old man in the sky" maybe

I pity those who cant see that love is love, I really do.

Sonic has good drinks but their food is bottom of the barrel. Their hamburgers taste like a microwaved burger from a convenience store. But I don't see how you can put Chick-Fil-A in that category. They can make a chicken sandwich as good as anyone else.

Um. Perhaps you need to clarify.

You don't have a problem with them, but you don't believe that they should be together.

Think about that.

I guess I'm not a chicken sandwich guy then. It's dry, plain and unsatisfying when combined with lettuce, tomatoes and condiments. Don't get me wrong, I like chicken. Just not in sandwich form. I still think every time I've eaten at Chick-fil-a I was disappointed. Always bet on Braum's. It makes In-and-Out look like a McDonald's burger.

I found the story, it wasn't the State of MA, just the Mayor of Boston trying to keep them out of Boston.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/07/20/boston-mayor-vows-to-keep-chick-fil-out-city67055/

BOSTON – The mayor of Boston is vowing to block Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant in the city after the company's president spoke out publicly against gay marriage.
Mayor Thomas Menino told the Boston Herald (http://bit.ly/OevB9z ) on Thursday that he doesn't want a business in the city "that discriminates against a population."

Braum Prom!

Count me on the "glad to see open bigotry" camp. So tired of the "you know, it is not as if I hate gays irrationally or out of disgust, but they can bring down the very fiber of society and give children aids" type of self desilusional reasoning. They are free to be anti gay bigots, and I am free to decide stop eating at their restaurant. Sounds fair enough, once everyone has their cards up in the table.

What is up with these fucking juniors?

WTH am I reading in this thread.

It's the standard three stages of derp for people defending the indefensible:

Stage 1: Say something dumb. Proceed to lose the argument.

Stage 2: Mindless taunts. Here, it's tasty chicken tasty chicken tasty chicken!

Stage 3: Bail out while pretending the subject is too trivial for your precious time even though you just made multiple posts about it.

It's kind of amazing how many times this cycle repeated in this thread.

But here's the thing: You know that they're bad. And it's a chicken sandwich. Even if you donate to a pro-gay organization (of which, there are many who all accomplish a different set of goals), you've still willingly given money to an organization that backs an anti-gay agenda. Is a chicken sandwich really worth that? Really?

In all seriousness, no it's not and were a Chick-Fil-A around me, I would not patronize them.

I know you are banned and may not see this, but I really hope you learn how wrong you are.

I also wonder how many of them are closeted.

Science suggests more than a few.

Reminds me of my first room mate in college. His name was Kevin. He was into wrestling. He wanted to be a genetic biologist so that he could find the "gay gene" (remember that?) and eliminate it. Acted completely afraid of the gay dude living on my floor. Brought back a hentai video to watch with the dudes.

Thinking back on it, I'm glad I was his room mate for only a semester.

Does he even know how men used to wrestle? Hilarious.

What in the fuck.........

What innnnnnnnnnnn theeeeeeeeeeee fuckkkkkkkkkkkk?!

I wish he was unbanned just so he could make one more post and post his "proof."

edit: And I look at his post history and I see he is married with at least 2 kids. Now I am sad because his kids are likely going to be indoctrinated with this kind of bullshit.

Now that I think on it the amount of wrestlers I knew in high school that were homophobic is startlingly high for a group of men that grope and roll around with sweaty men for fun.

You can get over that. I did, lots of people my age (early 30's) did. Exposure is one of the parents of tolerance.

After I read this thread I mentioned it to my wife, and we agreed that we will no longer be eating at Chik Fil A.
It just seems wrong to knowingly put money in the pockets of a company that openly and actively opposes equal rights for all human beings.

Worth is not an "either or", black or white metric. You're arguing the principle of the matter while ignoring/trivializing its intricacies. This situation is not a vacuum where binary choices rule minds. It's why the argument of other companies doing shady shit or endorsing/supporting other institutions that do shady shit keeps being brought back up.

There is nothing particularly intricate about this. Either you don't want to patronize a fast food chicken place that actively promotes an anti-gay agenda, or you don't care (or you actively do want to patronize that place). It's fairly straightforward. There's no need to pretend it's a complicated moral dilemma.

It's as complicated or straightforward as someone wants to make it for themselves really. Just because one person sees at as black and white doesn't mean that's how it has to be for everyone else when it comes to whether or not they are a patron at a CFA. So I'd disagree with your generalization, but would agree that for some there is nothing particularly intricate about this.

stealth edit: There were (or at least was one) examples of this earlier on in the thread (it being particularly complicated for some people).
stealth edit 2: There are also many more examples of where it's quite simple for people as well throughout.

I bet most customers dont even know this

Well of course not :P

I disagree with the all or nothing attitude. And I certainly disagree that you are anti-gay, or a closet bigot if you do choose to pay CFA for their chicken and service even with the knowledge of the donations and this interview. Your money does go toward their donations to causes a significant amount of the nation disagree with, though in such vanishingly small amounts that the only thing noteworthy is the principle of the matter. All balanced against their service, quality of food, and other realities of buying from a company.

That's why it's easier for some because they say, "shit sucks anyways, good riddance" while others express some remorse because they enjoyed the food but they cannot support CFA's beliefs whatsoever.

Basically, I believe there's a difference with being cool with eating at CFA even though they are anti-gay "because chicken" as you all so intimately put it, and allowing the convenience, immediacy, quality of service, taste of food, or anything you enjoy about the establishment win out over knowing your purchase contributes less than one-one thousandths of a penny toward a cause you disagree with, or even actively loathe.

I've never been to a Chik-Fil-A.

How fucking good could their sandwiches possibly be for people to generate complex and intertwined moral dilemmas in an effort to defend their decision to eat them?

It has nothing (or rather very little) to do with how good their food is.

dude, they didn't invent the chicken, just the chicken sandwich.

serious answer: It's sort of like KFC. They have a unique spice blend that is not found at other places. They way they put the sandwich in a foil bag so it steams the bun is pretty unique. The closet thing widely available for anyone wondering what the big deal is is the mcdonalds southern style chicken sandwich. A weak imitation if you ask me though.

Well of course not :P

I did not make a generalization. I pointed out that this particular question is not a complicated one. It is not true that something becomes more complicated simply because someone wishes it were so.

There is no all or nothing attitude. There is the reality that the decision to purchase chicken, or not to purchase chicken, from an organization that promotes disgraceful causes is not a complicated one. If you think the Chik Fil A experience outweighs the fact that you are contributing in some small way to efforts to maintain second-class citizenship for gays, that is your choice, but it is not a complex moral dilemma and efforts to inflate it into Sophie's Choice so as to rationalize your preference are risible.

I've never been to Chik-fil-a either. I don't think it's complex, but I also don't think it's a binary decision. It's a cost-benefit combined with moral relativism that any functioning member of society should be able to do.

I might have missed it with your specific reply or previous one(s) - so what particular question were you talking about?

So without know that I'll expand on what I was saying: I'm not saying someone wishes it to be more complicated. I'm saying that it could possibly be more complicated, for various reasons, for some than for others.

edit: Ahh so that's where you're coming from. Makes sense now. However, that's not what I'm trying to expand on.

You just don't know how good that fried chicken is bruh.

lol and you know I'm not saying that either (not that you're saying I did in particular).

Which is a good reason to talk about this, as evidenced by the multiple posters in this thread who have acknowledged their ignorance and vowed to stop eating that crap.

This can also be a double edged sword, as also evidenced by a few claiming to eat at CFA to spite those getting enraged over this topic.

The country is pretty much split on the root theme, after all.
