Anyone else tired of comic book films?

Every freaking summer.

The older i get the more i hate summer blockbusters. They never really fair well at awards neither.Popcorn flicks are starting to piss me off.

The line "Death......by exile" is the sort of thing Joker would say.....but I just can't see Crane doing that. If anything I don't think Crane fits as the Judge.

So something is really confusing me. How the fuck does Bruce connect Bane to Ra's? Are we to assume that Ra's was just a symptom of Bruce's deluded state, or did Ra's actually mystically appear before Bruce? If it's the latter, why would he lie about Bane being his son? If it's the former, what are the chances that a vision brought about by delusion could make the connection of the story the inmates told him to Ra's?

Ra's was clearly just a hallucination. I assume that he made the assumption because he had Bane on the brain. Can't blame the guy.

RT is of no use for old films. You should know that by now.

Avatar made loads of money so did spider man 3.

Means nothing

But money is all that matters in Hollywood.

It's why Transformers will probably get at least 3 more movies.

It's why Avatar is getting another movie.

Voting with dollars. It's all that matters in the end.

While Bane was terrorizing Gotham, Joker could have trapped remaining people on the ferries.

I'm pretty sure every fan of the trilogy would want this.

Strange thing at my showing, like half the theatre erupted in applause when Bane beat Batman after their first fight. A couple of people got mad and shushed them.

People were completely silent at mine. I kept a huge smile that entire scene; felt like the odd man out.

It was like:

Man, I loved the Rhas scene so much. So why did they have to end it with TV-level disappearing effects and a "look, he's a ghost you dummies!" anvil drop?

:_(

Yeah, I agree. But I think they did it just to be clear with the audience. If they made him vanish when Bruce looks away for a second or something, then people would've probably assumed he did a ninja vanish trick or something.

That man said his vertebra was sticking out. That sort of plot shouldnt be ok.Its massive
Sticking out could just mean made more prominent not physically sticking out of the skin all gory and shit. Again since we didn't see the injury we don't really know the exact injury of it. It's very likely it's not as serious as it is implied.

A literal back break aka vertebra splitting in two would injure the spinal core inside the vertebra and paralyze Bruce from the point of injury all the way down. Since he wasn't paralyzed the injury wasn't that severe.

What I really hate is the studio execs kidnapping me from my house and strapping me into the theatre chair to watch them. WHY DONT THEY LEAVE ME ALONE?

In the first film he was subservient to the League of Shadows, but had and relished personal control over individual people's lives.

Sounds like he was in heaven. You need to lighten up.

Alfred found some info on him about being a member of the League of Shadows or something

And people kept talking of a child who escaped the pit and how Bane was in a prison and born from darkness

Bruce assumed they were the same person

Also in the prison when the doctor is about to go into detail about the story of the child the other inmate tells him that Bane probably wouldnt want him telling Bruce this story.

We assume he meant Bane didnt want him knowing his origins, but it was really Bane not wanting Talia's secret to be revealed to Bruce

It works on all levels that way. General audiences think it was just a dream/hallucination. We could think the same, or that he was actually there (drugging Bruce so he thinks it was a dream too).

I'm not sure a mention would have been appropriate or serve the character any justice. Even if Crane was swapped for Joker, not sure it would have been the same.

Seeing the film again tomorrow in IMAX, in a tempurpedic seat this time. Can't wait.
I agree. I don't think The Joker should've been in Crane's spot. It doesn't seem like The Joker would be doing something small time like that.

The Joker not being mentioned isn't a detriment to the film, I'm just saying it would've been interesting to see how he might've been written into the film if Ledger were still alive. But there's also the possibility he still wouldn't have been in if Ledger were alive, so it doesn't really matter. Film was still great.

So the part when Batman and Catwoman team up when entering the layer. That was really clunky.

I understand why he thought they were the same person. What I don't get is how he made the connection that the child that made it out of the pit was in fact Ra's' child, and be right.

But he was IN BRUCE'S LOCKED CELL. Even a moron who had never seen the two previous movies would have surely gotten it without the effect.

Right?

Na mate.He broke his back and it got fixed by using a rope.Oh and a girl made the jump but no one else could. That stupid

Why the fuck do you care so much about awards?

Im a junior critic and ive been freelancing at empire mag since i was 15 as i started by doing work experiance there etc .They get mentioned alot over there.

I almost expected Catwoman and Batman to high five each other after they rolled through the goons so easily and then the trap happened and I was like "SHIT JUST GOT REAL!"

The girl was brought up in that prison and she wasn't using the rope so she wasn't weighed down by it physical or mentally. That was explained in the movie. Plus kids are just better at climbing and shit.

Honestly though this is clearly not your "type" of movie at all. Don't know what you expected going into it. Movie revolves around a fusion reactor timed bomb....

Anyone get a TDK boat scene vibe when JGL began walking towards the officers/soldiers on the bridge? It was like another test of the Gotham everyman's willingness to kill another.

This is a director that will bring up an old subject, then immediately flashback to it, practically every time. Bruce stares at gun he was gonna use on Chill, FLASHBACK TO CHILL GET IT HE'S BECOME WHAT HE HATES. Bruce falls down hole, Bruce's dad flashback WHY DO WE FALL.

To be fair, I think Robin was clearly modeled to be the next Batman, not "Robin, the boy wonder". Bruce knew this too. That's why he gave Robin directions to the Batcave, and that's why he gave Gordon a new bat signal.

I can now see why WB weren't happy with the ending. You can't make a Batman movie without Bruce Wayne, so Nolan has basically forced them into a reboot. Clever girl.

Why exactly can't you have Batman without Bruce Wayne if they continue this series?

It's fine. It's okay, it's fine.

IT'S FINE.

He found out about his past prior to meeting with him. And when they do meet Bane outright speaks to Batman about their shared history with the League of Shadows. As for the connection to being his son, it was a (faulty) assumption that Bruce had made because all the info he'd been given to that point led him to that conclusion.

edit- just read your more recent post. Again, I believe that all the info he'd received about Bane brought him to that conclusion in conjunction with his own insecurities. It is likely the only rationale that he could accept as to why he was bested in combat. It may have been a matter of pride just as much as it was a logical conclusion for him.

Wow. What a long, boring movie. It felt even longer because there was no fun in this movie at all. It felt as if it were a three hour long announcement of the continuation of the batman franchise. Bane was one of the most boring villains I've seen in a long time, which is a horrible disappointment as Hardy is a great actor. There is so much more, but whatever.

So disappointing.

Why exactly can't you have Batman without Bruce Wayne if they continue this series?

Because Bruce Wayne IS Batman for the masses. John "Robin" Blake is not.

Also, Nolan and everyone involved in these films are done. JGL is in Nolan's inner circle now, and won't do a Batman movie without him.

But he was IN BRUCE'S LOCKED CELL. Even a moron who had never seen the two previous movies would have surely gotten it without the effect.(

A couple of moments left me with a "he dumbed that down" feeling (making JGL's name Robin to spell it out for people).

Case in point, and I agree.

But overall I still enjoyed it and I choose to believe Nolenverse Ra's al Ghul is still alive.

As for the connection to being his son, it was a (faulty) assumption that Bruce had made because all the info he'd been given to that point led him to that conclusion.

But there was zero information that would make him think that Ra's was Bane's father. At that point, all he knew was that Bane was in the LoS.

then your opinion of cinema is invalid.

If you knew anything about film you would know what a stupid thing you just said.

Thats a massive insult to cinema.Blade runner is a masterpiece on the level of 2001 space Odyssey

Hahahahahahaha, Blade Runner is a very, very pretty film. It has wonderful production design, shot composition, cinematography and atmosphere. It's a classic, but it's far from a masterpiece. Much of it's subtext and thematic hidden depths are almost wholly imagined by film buffs and scholars, Scott just went along with it and made revisions to fit these conceptions. Comparing anything Ridley Scott has ever made to Kubrick's work is taken by me as a massive insult to cinema.

Lots of people don't like Blade Runner, and it varies between which of the 700 versions of it they might have seen. It's a very slow paced, many would say boring film, with very little plot to fill it's ponderous wide shots and sweeping futuristic cityscapes. I'm not surprised somebody might like TDKR more than Blade Runner, I don't, but I'm certainly not offended by it or think that they're stupid because of it.

were did catwomen learn how to fight.Shes like 90 pounds. No back story at all.So 2d.No depth

Guys I don't understand... how did Bruce manage to keep his beard so well trimmed in the eight years since TDK...he never left his room so how did he manage to look so neat? Also didn't he smell...we never saw him bathe....how could Talia stand to sleep with him?
