3DS XL First Impressions/Previews

After some thought I think I'm just going to get a red 3DS XL. I don't have any other Red handhelds and it looks better with black than blue/silver do, imo.

Second best after white. I really need to make up my mind :p
 
Have there been any decent photos of the Red 3DS XL? It's the one I have on pre-order but there doesn't seem to be as many photos of it. I've seen loads of the Blue one.

Also, we just posted a 13+ minutes long full of close-ups of the console and a lot of game demos - take it for what it's worth, it does really not look as appealing as playing it directly, especially without the 3D, but there are some DS/Virtual Console/3D Classics games shown, as well as many of the best 3DS games. O.O DS games look awesome in the 3DS XL . Which reminds me I have to buy Nanostray 1 and 2.

Yup. All I see is a more vibrant screen, really.

Damn, I really hate logical business decisions sometimes...(Releasing it with NSMB2, I'm not trying to be being sarcastic lol)


It's really a shame to not be able to play Kingdom Hearts 3D on the XL....well for me at least since I'm getting it Day 1.

I'm mostly upset because I start school a week after it releases. I would have greatly preferred the July 28 date just so I could have more time with it, same with NSMB2.

Releasing them earlier in the Summer just seems like a better idea in general, really :/

How in the hell did I miss the free download of Four Swords. I'm so upset right now. :(

I hope we can pay to download that in the near future.
 
Yup, I'm sticking with the Red. Thanks for finding the pics again. :) Only 6 more days. It's torture having 4 3DS games here and nothing to play them on.

oh yeah, I agree. I pretty much go back to college right after 3DS XL and NSMB2's release, along with several others I'm assuming.
 
All these impressions are making it so hard to resist pulling the trigger on this thing. But I just know Nintendo are going to release some special edition or better (mono-)colored edition in a few months and I'll regret my purchase.

Especially those Purple and Orange ones...

I would change the shell and risk breaking the system if a company made transparent orange replacement shells. Damn shame there will never be official 3DS XL's like them :(
 
Compared to when it was first announced I am actually giving this a second look. I will bite but only when some better colors are available for the US.

It's so easy to fall for new puppy syndrome, but I have a wonderful working normal 3DS, it's not like I can't wait a bit.

I don't know if it's been said here or not but in the UK, GAME and gamestation are going ahead and launching on Friday, NOT Sataday. Also I may have my XL as early tomorrow as staff are allowed to buy them as soon as they come in stock. Soooooo hyped.
 
I actually think I'm going to wait for more colors. I'm always getting a handheld when it comes out without the colors I want, then regret it when better ones are released. I really want that white one.

Wow, Dead or Alive Dimensions looks amazing...

I keep seeing trading offers around (i.e. Gamestop) and I'm seriously thinking I may take the opportunity... But I wonder: in order to transfer all the data from my old 3DS to the XL, do I need to physically have both consoles at the same time or is it something I can do by just putting the old SD card into the XL and downloading/updating my profile?

Btw, can I ask you what is the name of the soundtrack you used for the 13min video (0:00 to 2:30) ? It's incredibly catchy.
Also : please Nintendo, I need a new Metroid in 2D... One which isn't related to Other M (Fusion was really good, but Other M is one of those game I just wish could disappear from canon)...

Need to have them both at the same time. It sends the info from one 3DS to the other.
 
Guys, Mediamarkt Spain has a tradi-in program in wich you get the 3DS XL for 80 euros by giving the 3DS.

My question is, can I use my gf's 3DS as a 'bridge' to pass all my apps and then pass them to the XL?

Technically, yes. But anything she has on her 3DS will be replaced by your data and then she'll be left with basically a new 3DS once you transfer your data to the XL.

It's the music 30 of the Mii Plaza music player. Basically, its a song from Find Mii II (its name in English should be something like "The battle is not over!").

It'll whipe absolutely everything on her 3DS except for the saves stored on the 3DS cartridges, and photos and songs that are stored on the SD card, if I recall well. She'll basically get an out of factory-like 3DS, so she'll lose her friends, her downloaded channels, all her streetpass/ spotpass data, her game coins, progress in all the Mii Plaza games, etc..
 
I think I've made up my mind: Getting the red. I've never had a red piece of hardware before, so I think this will be the time.

It's 'Keep Fighting, Heroes!' - a masterpiece tune from the series. As mentioned here.
 
I remember having a Red/Black DS lite and really liking that one a lot. I ended up getting a Blue/Black one too and not liking that as much. I also had a White and I remember not really liking playing surrounded by White, but I loved the look.

Going by my DS lites, I'd probably enjoy playing on the Red the most out of all the colors known. I'm glad that it's there at launch, but I wish White was there too.

Not only you need the two consoles at the same time, but you also need them hooked up to the Internet! It really is tedious if you're trying to exchange your 3DS to a shop :/.

That's okay, it's not a problem, she doesn't play online and has no photos or music on the SD card.
 
My go to plan for transferring:

- Buy XL.
- Go to a Best Buy where there's an Ambassador 3DS on display.
- System Transfer to the XL.
- Wait a week due to transfer limit.
- Transfer account from my own original 3DS to the XL.
- Sell original 3DS.
- Both eShop accounts do indeed merge (confirmed via Nintendo's website)
- Have Ambassador games on XL with my original 3DS account transferred over.
- Profit.

I'm a fucking genius, but it's all of the matter of luck of the draw.
