Every picture of the 3DS XL I've been seeing reveals very yellow screens (warm temp). I'm not a fan of that at all.

I've never understood the idea behind that. Does anyone actually prefer yellow screens?
EDIT: I just realized that it's because it's easier on the eyes, isn't it? Kind of like using F.lux I guess.
Don't have pics sorry, but a quick calculation shows that 1:1 DS games on the 3DS XL are 2.6752 x 2.0064 inches whereas the DSi is 2.6 x 1.95 inches. The 3DSXL displays slightly bigger than the DSi in 1:1 mode.

The problem on the 3DS, and worse on the XL, is they lack much in the way of brightness to begin with. Add in the yellow/warm screens and it makes a bad situation worse. I much prefer the screen temp on the DSi/Vita.

People getting an XL, don't forget - there was an option in the 3DS settings that defaulted to 'surround' or something for audio. If you turn it off, the speakers' maximum volume improves.

Unfotrunately, I do not own a DSi XL
. There is a photo of stretched pokemon on the previous page. To tell you the truth, I have never seen DSi XL, so I can't really comment on this matter. It looks ok for me, and I even think about playing Pokemon in stretched mode. Fun fact #1: Kid Icarus is now much more comfortable to play. The grip is soooo much better and while I used a stand to play KI on classic 3DS, now I can normally play it without a stand.
Nah tried that, Internet cut out on me about two minutes in. Its really odd, I can get it to connect and stay connected for maybe 5 mins before it cuts out. If I try to reconnect then the hub dosen't show up. Well it does but the box where the hubs name should be is just blank, whilst still showing a full signal. If I do a few reboots of the hub the name eventually appears and will allow me to connect again, but only for five minutes. Everything else in the house is staying connected no problem though, including the three original 3DS's we have.

Since the size is identical, I assume the image and text are as sharp and crisp as in DS? The only thing that bothers me with my 3DS (especially in DQ9) is the blurred look in DS games. The 1:1 mode is just too small with the original 3DS, this could be a deal breaker for me to make the switch to XL.

Speaking of the glare reduction coating, is it inside the LCD cover or outside the LCD cover? If outside, will it scratch off over time, or peel/smear/flake away with cleaning?

I'm going to have to wait until Christmas here in the US to get one. Hopefully by then there will be either
1. A price drop or some form of incentive/bundle
2. Different colors.

Really not sure about upgrading due to the ppi, I even noticed it going from a ds lite to dsi.
How is the d-pad on the 3ds xl's?, is it actually better than the one on the original 3ds? because mine is awful.

It's better. It is the same one as in DSi (maybe not the greatest dpad ever, but it does its job).

I have a really dumb question - but it makes sense to me - could you take pictures of your red unit under sunlight/outdoors? Warm? Cool lighting? It'd make my choice on color selection all the more clear...

Has anyone heard of any good trade in deals at Gamestop in the US?
I have a Vita and a DSi that I was going to trade in using the bonus $25 on the vita, but I didn't know if there is something better coming up.

If anyone is not sure about buying a red one, trust me - it looks fantastic. Different shades of red under different light etc. Very classy. Stock photos don't do it justice.

There are no downloadable 3DS retail games yet. The first will be NSMB2 next month.

Oh what the hell. But it IS happening, right? Like at some point they'll all be downloadable? I knew it was too good to be true. There were articles a while back about how they were going all digital.
No 3DS games are downloadable right now and won't be until NSMB2 comes out. After that I think Nintendo are going to put all (or at least the majority) of their first party games after NSMB2 on the eShop but I think it's up to the third party if they want to put their retail games on the eShop too and there is no indication whatsoever about whether they are going to put games that came out before NSMB2 on the eShop.
You might have confused it with the Wii-U, I'm pretty sure they are going full digital for retail titles with that.
The Wii U is going to have all games available as a digital download. The 3DS is suppose to have at the very least all major first-party games available starting with NSMB2.
