I can't see anyone really enjoying GW2 being able to go back to WoW.
I think I would step back into WoW and wonder why my dodge button wasn't working.
I enjoyed a lot about the three beta events I played, but I really wish it was optimized a bit better.
<insert "GW2 beta is an actual beta, not a 'sneak preview Beta' like all other MMOs have" comment here>
I also need to go learn a bit more about the Thief, I really had no intention of playing one until I gave it a shot over the last hour of BWE3. Now I don't think I can go back to my Necro or Guardian.
Any info we could give you on the thief would proably be outdated at launch, as they're on the list of professions that need the most work (along with Necros and Mesmers). They definitely strike me as a fun class to play, enough that I bumped up Thief on my list of classes I want to play.
Hasn't Maxrpg been banned multiple times before? I could swear I've seen his name greyed out more than a few times.
Yeah, I talked to him on steam earlier and he mentioned that this is not his first ban.
I didn't even think about it having the word "mock" in it - mind blown. Not as bad as the time I was on the train and there was an ad for Californication and a guy walked over in front of the "cali". I just yelled "I'm an idiot. WTF!"
Oh, would it blow your mind to know there's an arrow hidden in the FedEx logo?
Was Polymock available during the beta?
There was a portal leading to a Polymock Arena in Rata Sum, but it was down and the workman would only comment that it wasn't ready yet. There's also that red Arena with a Net over it (lol), of course.
My guess is when you throw down your battle boxes and pick your Polymock, you'll go down and become the Polymock and then fight using GW2's combat system with new skills. That's what I'm hoping for anyways.
I would absolutely love the hell out of that. KegBrawl was amazing, but if they implement Polymock like that? Holy shit, I'm gonna need to get some adult diapers and a case of energy drinks. I might even have to take up meth!
A game should teach you the basics of it from the start. Not through straight up tutorials mind you, but by rewarding and punishing proper and improper play hard.
It does teach you. There are dynamic events the instant you start playing, and they actually work in a chain (I dunno if you can actually fail them though, that's worth trying when the surge dies down).
What it
doesn't do is spend a lot of time helping you
unlearn the bad habits that other MMOs have hammered into you, like rushing to max level, only questing where there are obvious indicators of events, not talking to NPCs even when they run up to you and say "help me!", etc.
If they did, the people who aren't fucked in the head would have to suffer through all of those boring tutorials that state the obvious;
Help people who ask. Don't let the enemy smash you in the face, that's bad. People around you are friends, not stealing your kills/shiny objects. You don't have to stand there and grind on mobs.
You know, stuff gamers
used to know and be pretty good at.
You probably didn't ask because they did a pretty good job of doing that on their own.
It has been my experience that UO players who gave WoW a try ended up scoffing at it, shaking their heads, and going back to UO. Now EQ players, on the other hand....
Its a pretty old video, but I found it while searching to see what farm nodes looked like (interested in cooking). I think this is probably the best video ive seen that shows off how awesome exploration is in GW2.
I was leading tours of that at the end of BWE3, you should have been on and come along. A great time was had by all.
Oh, and I have to say, Your account's bank is SOO pathetic. I dont want to spend money to buy a bank expansion, but I think ill probably have to eventually
Yes, but factor in that there's Collectable storage for all crafting materials (and a whole storage area just for cooking!) and it's not so bad. It's also account wide, so it's nice for transferring stuff to alts.
In the first BWE, I was irritated by the size of the bank. Then I found out about the collectables tab and BWE2 and 3 I barely used it. Soooooo good. The only stuff I stuck in there was stuff like transmutation stones, mystic chests/coins and some of the various little currencies that drop. Not sure why those aren't saved somewhere in the game's interface, but oh well.
