Got an XL with Mario Tennis, 3D Land and Mario Kart for cheap :D

AnY recommendations on the jrpg front? Played a lot on my DS but gave it to my nephew two years ago. So DS would be fine as well.

Played every dragon quest and FF there is on it though :p

Radiant Historia
Sands of Destruction
The World Ends With You,
Tales of the Abyss 3D
Luminous Arc 2 (SRPG)

There are lots more, but these are the ones I always suggest. Have you Played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2? really fun SRPG.

TWEWY was great. FF Tactics 2 was actually my first DS game.

I'll definitely have to check out Tales of the Abyss. There is no demo is there?

Radiant historia seemed like a great game in the previews and gaf consensus. Sands of destruction doesn't ring a bell though :D

Thanks for the suggestions.

Just took the jump and grabbed one from Gamestation for £180 with the AC adapter. They have told me I can take it home, complete the system transfer and take my OG 3DS back for £100 cash as long as I do it before Thursday when the trade-in offer expires

So - just after some tips on the transfer process. Does it send everything from the SD card over as well? GBA/NES titles? Pictures? Music? Are there any good guides online about how to do the transfer process? Anyone have any general pointers?

Also, will my play coins carry over? I have 268 at the moment and would hate to lose those :/

Everything will transfer.

Once the transfer is complete, it will tell you to put the old SD card in your new 3DS. If you don't want to use the old SD card, all you have to do is copy all the content from your old SD card to your new card, and then put the new card in the XL.

Got this Beauty yesterday :D
Had to pay € 195 for it though. But i don't regret it!

There is a slight yellowish tint on the screen, but its nothing that I notice unless I compare it against other screens. I had imagined it much worse after I had read this thread :P

Edit: I got lucky and there were no scratches on the top screen.

So pretty! ^_^

Gotta give your impressions...

I want a really detailed review. How are the buttons? the hinges, when locked? the 3d effect/viewing angle/sweet spot (easier/harder/bigger/smaller)? How is the finish? Gyroscope and system stability(top part), when playing gyro/face raiders?

Us Americans still have 2 full weeks and we need more impressions and reviews ^_^

Just fired it up for the first time and while my screen is scratch free, the yellow hue is very noticeable. I'm sure it's one of those things I won't notice after a day or 2 but since it's been talked about so much on here I can't help but notice it. I put it next to my OG 3DS and there's a definite difference. It's a lot more noticeable when you take the 3D off so I'm guessing it may be an extra level of colour to compensate for the loss of brightness when the 3D is switched on?

One last thing before I do the transfer - will I lose that plant video that was pre-installed? No big loss but just wondering if I should watch it first!

Edit: Just seen that you can download that video on the store anyway so no loss there. Time to start the transfer!

What would you guys get if you had the choice? PS Vita or 3DS XL. Already have original 3DS, I should add.

Honestly, I am keeping my OG 3ds and scooping up the XL here in the states (praying I can talk my wife into the cosmo black and have her help me farm street passes haha), as well as keeping my Vita in hopes that they bring that Jp Tales game over... Innocence I believe.

Back on to your response though, I would go with the Vita and XL if I had to have only 2, or Vita and the OG 3ds depending on your preference and money situation. It is just hard after using your Vita to go back to that tiny tiny 3ds screen lol.

I have both a Vita and 3DS - also getting an XL....

It's tough to answer. 3DS is getting games that Vita is not, Vita is getting games 3DS is not.

With Vita you will need a screen protector (preferably the Sony dual pack, one cut to protect back touchpad), and a memory card. Without a memory card you cannot play games.

While I really enjoy Vita gaming, I feel Sony doesn't fully have their ducks in a row. Or fully grasp portable gaming. It's feeling like a PS3 lite here in the US.

If you're really, really enjoy/invested heavily on 3DS get the XL. If the stock 3DS feels well enough, get the Vita.

A white Vita will be arriving bundled (October) with its Assassins Creed 3 spinoff, memory card not included, though.

I dunno. I'm torn on the Vita. I thought I'd love it a lot more than I do. I'm sure it'll develop into something better - but Sony needs to show me they will grow the library. And deliver promised and delayed features (PS1)

Get whichever has games on it that you want to play.

Since you already have a regular 3DS, I'd say go with Vita unless the OG 3DS design really bothers you. It's almost the same thing as having a launch PS3 that works perfectly fine yet choosing to get a PS3 slim instead of a 360, robbing yourself of the chance to play the 360's exclusives (which you could also potentially have zero interest in).

Both handhelds looks to have plenty of games that aren't available on the other one, so they're both kinda essential. I personally wouldn't settle for an original 3DS - the screens are too small for me, which is why I upgraded - but I wouldn't wanna be without a Vita either. So get a Vita now or an XL now and a Vita later when it's had a pricecut, would be my advice.

Just make sure you have access to both libraries eventually.

Holy shit. Going back to OG 3DS after using an XL for a week. Shit is tiiiiiiinnnnnny.

I had the same experience. There's just no going back.

I stopped my playthrough of KH3D in anticipation for the XL. It will be glorious :D

Tbh I'm more excited for NSMB2 at this point though :P

Yea, I'm definitely buying an XL. Recently bought 3DS, and good god do my hands hurt after a few minutes of play.
Which part? Stuff like Mario Kart making your thumb sore/crampy for pressing too hard for prolonged times is even worse on XL :(

Well, that's part of it, but I knew going in that analog sliders are shit anyway (at least it was on the PSP). But the main reason is the inability to support the 3ds in my hands well and access the triggers at the same time. It's just too small. I've felt the same way about DS Lite as well, but the combination of the slider pad makes it even worse.

Needless to say, a bigger system will be much more comfortable for me to hold... if not, then hopefully they'll make some comfy grips for the XL as well :)

Oh yeah, the trigger situation is at least 200% better now

An unboxing + gameplay video of the White:

here

It's SOOOOOO GOOOOD
Day 1 whenever it comes to NA. blue/Black isn't good enough! :p

Again, could someone mockup what an all-black would look like? I'm considering painting mine also. Use these pics please:

Thanks so much to whoever does this :)

The white looks so dull. Not a fan. Usually I love white things, too.

I just left the store and they have a guy walking around with the unit tethered to his belt. I guess they don't want to leave it out to get scratched by little kids.
No kidding? I was at the store too around that time. Did you get a tag from a Mii with a goti and tophat with "Go Monarchs!" as the greeting? If so, that was me.

I got to try it (the XL) for a few minutes. I don't know if the screen size did much for me, but I liked the bigger form factor. Much more comfortable.

Yeah, I came from the DSi XL to the 3DS and absolutely hated it. Then I got a Vita and hated the 3DSes screens even more. The 3DS XL will hopefully correct a lot of that. Especially for my DS games, which I have a ton of.

Agreed, it looks so bland and boring. The OG 3D white is much nicer because it has a nice mix of black along with the white.

I haven't been keeping up too much with the recent XL impressions but how is the 3D? I remember hearing it was better before it came out, and now that it's out I've even read people saying it was worse. What's the verdict on the 3D?

Some people that have problems with 3D like seeing blurry/double may find this effect even worse on the big screen, otherwise I don't see any trouble. You can move the unit a bit more before going out of focus which is always nice!

It's pretty much the same I'd say, the differences are very small

Sacramento isn't that bad ^_^ it's where I live

Same here, born and raised. It's no Bay Area but it's not Mobile, AL either.

ON TOPIC: just noticed the Start and Select buttons on Daughter 2.0's 3DS are all jacked. I've seen pictures of this but never imagined a seven year old would be able to destroy a membrane surface in just over a year. Looking forward to the XL's actual buttons.
