I wonder how Wii games will look over HDMI or if they'll be upscaled.

I was more referring to the thought that the launch titles for PS4/Nextbox would be "most probably represented" by high-end PC games running at 1080P and 60 fps. It's obvious Wii U is going to be overshadowed by the other two in terms of graphical fidelity but there are some crazy statements being made on both sides in this thread.

I will be playing those games in 2014 at 1600p at 100-120FPS with 8xAA on PC on hardware that will be about 8x more powerful than 720 and ps4.

You will be playing those games at 720p at 30fps on next gen consoles. They might look like that in a small stillshot. but in motion, you are in for a rude awakening my friend when you do a side by side comparison to a high end pc when those games come out.

Stop downplaying Wii U and realise that all consoles are on the same boat of weakness but it shouldn't matter as it should be about the games. If you want to play those games the way they are meant to be played and the way you saw them the first time or better then get a PC. Sorry mate but compared to a high end pc at the end of 2014 when those games come out, PS4 and 720 are more on par with Wii U than a high end pc. We will be looking at 10 TFLOP GPU's by then end of 2104 when those games are released.

None of that is true.

Though the thing that people miss is that PS4/720 don't need high end PC tech to produce better graphics than what we're seeing from high end PC tech.

Getting at Best Buy as well because I have a few giftcards. Not sure which one yet, but I have a few months left to decide.

That's a good point. With Crytek going to a free-to-play model, there are likely gonna be less huge graphical showcases for PC.

That wouldnt make any sense, especially with PS4 being like that, since PC hardware is almost always a step or two ahead of consoles at launch. Especially if high end means all top of the line available parts.

And with WiiU being closer to the Wii than PS360, wouldnt it not be able to run most of the ports on the same level as current systems (if not better) we're seeing headed to the system?

I can't wait for the Wii U. Might be the first console I buy at launch. It will be nice to see Microsoft and Sony trying to catch up with the Wii U's technical prowess for a change.

I don't think so. I expect the Wii U graphics to be easily on par with the next Xbox/PS4.

One technical area where Nintendo excel is loading times (something no-one mentions). The Wii loads games considerably faster than the current Xbox/PS3, and likewise with the DS compared to the PSP.

Pretty much every Wii U thread has a Nintendo fan making some ridiculous statement and then the same 2 or 3 coming in from the other side and crapping things up. Other than that, you should be fine. It's pretty civil here.

Trust me, this is pretty civil and sophisticated for GAF. Here, people will swear off buying an entire console just because of bad box art, constantly fight console wars that ended more than a decade ago, turn one man's twitter comment into a 100 page Sony vs Nintendo thread, and defend shit that should never be defended by any sane person like racism, sexism and the Mass Effect 3 ending.
