These threads are what's known as new generation launch syndrome, or NGLS for short.
It seem to only happen in Wii U and Vita threads.

That's the reason some people in the industry say that next gen games won't be that impressive. if even here on neogaf people don't see that much of a difference, I can only guess that will be the case with the average gamer out here.

... Because the Xbox 3 and PS4 haven't been revealed yet. This isn't some anti Nintendo/anti Sony behavior. My goodness people.
The majority of the mainstream can't even tell the difference between HD/SD, 30fps/60fps and AA/No AA half the time. I spent an hour trying to explain to my uncle the differences, and in the end he still thought Mario Galaxy was using anti-aliasing and running at a higher resolution whilst PC Dead Space 2 on max settings wasn't (and this is while they were both running side by side).

The GamePad is clearly the focus, but I wish the console would get some attention. Even though the Wii Remote was definitely the wow factor as well, Wii still had close-up shots in promotional videos. The design was nice, and I always liked the blue slot light.
Then why is it brought up in the Wii U threads then? My point is the thread is suppose to be about one thing and then it suddenly turns into some kind of flame war.

Have we heard of any game launching in October? Everything we've heard is November. That said, it's SO early for advertising for a mid-November launch.
Yeah I expect the PS4 and Xbox 8 boards to be trolled just as much.

Probably not going to be available at launch and a big release next year OR they're packing it in and revealing it at the Nintendo Direct.
I'm beginning to see.
Regarding the marketing material though I do hope black is available for launch. With Nintendo you just never if it will be there or not.

Does it bother you that at this point in time I am very pessimistic about the Wii U? If so, why? I have said many times that I will buy one eventually and still plan on doing so. I am waiting for a game that grabs my attention, waiting to see what Nintendo does with their online features, etc. Just because I am pessimistic about the system doesn't mean that I am not excited for the release of new hardware.

People still come into stores calling the 360 slim "The kinect" and asking about the Xbox 720 and how they saw the PS4 on the internet...so i'm sure the WiiU will have to claw its way out of the confusion category.
People will just think its a new controller unless Nintendo does a really good marketing blitz for the average consumer. Also let them know its fully backwards compatible and HD.
Oh and bring back the "Get N or get out" slogan

Nintendo Land includes the best Zelda game in quite some years, if Wii Sports Resort is any indication. Another plus: The Skyward Sword team does not seem to be involved.

I am really REALLY curious to see how Nintendo markets the Wii U. The Wii marketing campaign was pure genius and obviously it was incredibly successful. I am not sure how they can achieve that with the Wii U.
