3DS XL First Impressions/Previews

I'd pay for an ambassador account ;). I'm not sure how much though, I'd have to look into what all it includes.

Can't wait for next Sunday! (Or a few days after, depending on when Newegg gets it to me.)

He/She logged in within that timeframe, and he/she has the Ambassador Program Certificate, it's just that the games weren't downloaded into the system, but they are in the eShop's account, so in theory (if you lived in the same town) it's totally possible.

considering I live in the Netherlands, I don't think that Lanbeast and I have any chance of even considering this option xD

Main thing I've noticed personally is the unit feels really sturdy. The OG model had a weird clumsy feeling to it like it had some give to it.. this just feels solid.

I throw the OG model in my backpack now, and while I'm not necessarily worried about it, it's still good to hear that the XL feels a lot more sturdy. It looks sturdy.

Originally I was thinking red all the way but some of these pictures of the blue one are starting to sway me. They both look pretty lame compared to the other colors Japan and Europe are getting, though.

On another note if I'm going between a 32 GB SD card on my 3DS to a 4 GB on the XL I should take my pictures/music off of the 32 before I transfer?

If you want to use the same SD card and are doing a system transfer, you don't have to do anything. You'll use the 32GB card in the XL after the transfer. If you just want to use the 4 GB card, then you can just put your pictures and music on the 4GB card before or after...

Yay, I wanna use the 32. So, I'll just do the system transfer, then take the 4 out of the XL, put it in the PC, and copy over the files so I can put them back on my 32 GB card?
 
Hmmm. So I have a US 3DS with ambassador account but plan on buying a PAL XL system as I'm in Australia now. Pity I can't transfer the ambassador games. Anyone from GAF want to buy a US 3DS
 
Hi guys, the thread is huge and it would be difficult to find some answers. But are there some good and long impressions out there?

I'm also interested in how the d-pad is handled and wether it's a huge improvement in comparison to the 3DS.

I might be interested enough to get one in the future.

You won't have to copy anything over with a pc. You'll just pop your 32 out of original and into XL, after the transfer. Easy peasy.
 
While on the topic of SD cards... does speed make a difference on the 3DS? Has anyone tested if there's a difference between the read/write on the 3DS XL?
 
It's kind of sad I'm excited over upgrading my DS ...

I'm positive I won't be buying Mario. I suppose playing Heroes of Ruin, RE:R, and Kingdom Hearts on a larger screen will be nice, but I don't think the experience will be all that different.

It's not that crazy -- my StreetPass data is incredibly important to me, so I understand where you're coming from! If you couldn't transfer that data over to a new 3DS, I'd honestly probably never upgrade...

PS3 - $700
360 w/o Kn - $500
Vita - $700
Wii - $350
Games cost between $70 and $100.

One could argue "blah blah blah currency conversion bs" but the fact is that a PS3 costs more than minimum wage before taxes (which is not nearly enough for a living).

My plan is to wait until the shops in Paraguay get the XL in stock and then make a quick trip do Foz do Iguaçú.

This pretty much sums up what I'm going through.

I also feel a little bloated.
 
I was hoping I could pre-order in store but it looks like I'll just have to head to Target on release day. I can get a nice 5% discount with my wife's card or else I'd just order it online.
 
Damn, I was going to get the XL on launch but this guy on Craigslist is offering his Purple 3DS for only $100. I'm pretty sure I'll get the purple one but the only catch seems to be that he isn't posting pics for me to see it. He assured me however that it's in like new condition.

It's one of the best cases I've ever used for a handheld. Has anyone here ordered a brown Chopper Purse? It's the only one of which I haven't seen wild pics.
