Final Fantasy VII PC re-release. SE Store Exclusive - Out now, Internet required

Maybe I'm just too used to the PS1-version but I'm really loving the "shadow-shading" stuff going on on the models in this game! Not only in battle but outside as-well~

The original PC version also came with a copy of the Yamaha S-YXG50 SoftSynthesizer which gave it absolutely amazing music for 1998 on the PC.

When wavetable soundcards were still hundreds of dollars and FFVII included fantastic wavetable music gratis it was like manna from heaven.

Oh now that you mention it, i remember that Yamaha thing and i used it because it made the musics sound better.

Back then most people had SB16 or SB16 clones that used the FM based OPL3 as their main synth. It was passable but still terrible at accurate reproduction of certain instruments (brass instruments were particularly fucking terrible).

Yep, I just came to ask the same question. SE must have underestimated the demand for this :(

I have been stuck here for atleast 20 minutes.

Pressing resume does nothing.

Shinra's Theme sounds horrible.

As much as I want to buy this I figured I should just wait so I can play it on my Vita some day.

I do need to go through another playthrough. Love this game for life.

What the fuck? Big Shot did 1280 damage on Air Buster without back-attack... did they change the stats on limit breaks or what? I didn't notice with this Buster.

Dude, stop conflicting yourself :\
No, I'm just saying that some songs are improvements and some are not (and I can only compare it to the PS1 game). Victory Theme, Shinra Theme are bad, Barrets Theme, Battle Theme is better... at this point, I'm not even sure if it's the same crap from the original PC-version... I never listened to that, but I do know everyone thought it was crap.

Heh, thanks for the impressions here Yoshichan.

I only got to 15% before it died. I can't get into my SE account either so they are really having major problems.

I guess it's a waiting game then. I suppose it's good that so many are buying this, remember how we were told we should have bought more of Chrono Trigger DS if we wanted another Chrono game?

So all the music is just .ogg files.

Im happy to upload them all as a zip/rar & share the link - but I don't know if that's allowed.

Well I contacted support about the issue buying the game from Australia despite it being listed as a supported country and they replied (relatively promptly) saying that they were working on an Australia specific store and they could only suggest waiting for that to be implemented to get the game.

I need my Tifa now though :(

One for me, one for a friend.
Although I was considering buying another one just to have it.
And all that to go along with the two copies of the original SNES version I had bought - one for me and one for my sister.

I tried...

Me too. I bought it for the DS and the Wii Virtual console. Actually, I bought it twice for the VC, I gifted a copy to my son.

Looking at the screenshots... why would you play it like this? Why would you do this to yourself?

Find an old PS1, a CRT (not an LCD), and play it that way. It's the only way to prevent your eyes from bleeding.

I think what we want to know is of One Winged Angel has the Latin chanting. If there's a file called fb2.ogg, it's that one. Don't share it, just play it and let us know.

The system reqs look pretty tame, so I think even my crappy laptop can play this. Anyone recommend a cheap ($20-30 tops) but passably decent gamepad that'd work well with the game? Will this Logitech F310 do the trick?

The graphics boost is excellent, but I think I might be more excited by the prospect of finally playing FF VII with an analog stick, instead of having to use the D-Pad.

Comparison from the same boss (I remember Square releasing an identical screenshot):

Yoshi--what are your overall impressions of it so far? It's been awhile since my last playthrough of the game, so might just pick it up anyways.

I'm kind of curious about it, too. It'd be nice to have a PC version that runs on a odern PC without having to do all kinds of weird tricks to get it working.

My main concerns are if the music is good, especially One Winged Angel and how the Square-Enix Store's policy on re-downloading games is. I mean, if it's 2.5GB, it's manageable even if it's just one download, but it'd be nice if there was no limit.

I understand it supports the xbox 360 controller, but can you move using the analog stick or must you use the directional pad?

Yeah...that doesn't look so good.

Keep posting screenshots, though, please. I'll try to set up the PSX game on an emulator with the Natural Vision shader to compare (I have a hunch it should look better and especially more cohesive with the backgrounds).
