Can anyone recommend a nice Silver spray paint that replicates the silver on the 3DS XL? If I don't like the blue I'm just gonna paint it :/

Those prevent it from touching when closed. They apparently aren't doing the job though when minor amounts of pressure are applied (like when it's in your pocket).
Please tell me you're joking and that you really don't give this much of a damn about the color of a toy. Please tell me that. Please please please. =)

I have yet to see anyone actually post a picture of their XL having smudges/scratches.

Ah, now that you say that it sense. still unexcusable that the problem still exists though. I had a launch 3DS and the streaks are very apparent and unable to wipe off. Of course it's impossible to tell during gameplay but i like to baby the thing.
Out of my 30 or so DS games, only Pokemon Conquest doesn't play on my Japanese machine.

Someone posted pictures earlier in the thread of their XL unit fresh from the box with what looked like manufacturing damage on the upper screen but I keep reading posts about scratching from normal use without any photo evidence.
I'm wondering now if this is FUD.

If I end up hating the blue (which is probable, as I hate my blue/black DS lite) then I'd just like to have some means of changing the color to something more simple and nice, if I can. Color is important to me for handhelds
Maybe I'll just wait for shells instead, if 3rd parties decide to make them. Would be easier than painting, at least

I was one of the people who had those almost unnoticable scratches out of the box. I had sillicon pieces attatched to upper screen to prevent any more scratches.
I decided to make a little experiment. I got rid of those sillicon pieces for a week. Now I have to say, that the screen is the same. Scratches aren't deeper or anything like that.
Guess I was just unlucky. But those scratches out of the box aren't really drastic.

It's weird. Didn't someone say the Euro packaging allowed pressure to be put on the unit? Perhaps mine's been squashed in the box and it's made it more prone to this.

I'll just chalk this up to the fact that people are different. If you were my friend, and you told me this, I'd punch you in the face. Right in the damn face. I'm not a good friend to have, am I? But seriously, if the color of a gaming machine bothers you this much, just wait. You know they're going to release more colors, most likely this holiday season. They always do. Always. The 3DS was a bomb out of the gate and they still released about 4 new colors within a year. It will happen again. Now come a little closer so I can punch you in the face.

I know. The strange thing is though that my US DQV doesn't play on my UK 3DS but my UK DQV plays on my Jap 3DS. A hella lotta initials there.

Well just sold my 3DS for $120. Gonna send it out Monday after I do the data transfer. Going to pick up the Black/Blue XL Sunday (at Best Buy most likely)

I think I may just wait for Christmas, yeah... I'm not super hyped for this and seeing as this is an additional unit and not a full-on revision I don't see Nintendo waiting the usual 6 months to release a new color... anyone know how long it took for DSi XL to get new colors in NA?

I just put my 3DS for sale via amazon. Asking $120 + shipping. It's in like new condition, and will come with box, instructions, charger base, etc. At that price, I'd hope it goes quick. We'll see...

I'm going with blue but I'm hoping to change the blue plates to white or black in the future with people saying how easy they come off
That's my plan, except I'll probably be using silver plates. I just hope that replacements start showing up within a few months

Less than a week before XL's release? You might want to offer a game that people want if you want it to sell quick.
There's going to be a plethora of used 3DSs flooding the market between now and the coming week. You'd probably want it to stand out among the crowd.

Actually, I was wrong. People are selling them used for 180. Not sure who the heck is buying used 3DSes for that. That's just dumb. But then again Amazon US lists the list price for Purple 3DS at 242 dollars. That's right. 242 dollars. The Amazon-Nintendo situation is seriously messed up.

It literally just sold for $120 in under an hour after I posted on amazon. Easily the best option for those that want to get an XL on Sunday and transfer everything over. I'll get my system Sunday, transfer everything over, and ship out the old unit Monday!
