3DS XL First Impressions/Previews

You're describing the worst case scenario. If you clean it regularly, don't play it with grimy hands, and keep it out of the sun most of the time, it'll be nice and white for years to come. For me, all the necessary extra attention to keeping it clean is well worth it, as it looks so damn nice. Personally, having played the black-red/silver 3DS LLs in a store, I could never switch to one of those from my white one without becoming clinically depressed in the process.

I'm keeping mine as a back up in case my XL dies or something. Oh and I can use it to trade with myself when the inevitable 3DS Pokemon games come out. Plus I'm just a system hoarder.

If I have stuff on my SD card should I put that card in the XL before or after transferring?

Exactly! I keep my stuff way too clean, heh

I'd personally be fine with a white XL and keeping it in tip-top shape. Hopefully by Christmas next year white will be out on the market/there will be a nice special edition console and I can get one as a Christmas gift or something
 
2 more days...

My store got them in today along with NSMB2. I got to hold the box and it was glorious. Putting them down and locking them away was NOT easy...

While true, that the system can look immaculate with care: no thanks.

I'm tired of constantly wiping down my 3DS and Vita, liberating them from their collective grease marks. Not because I'm a dirty bird (I'm kind of a germophobe, constantly sanitizing and washing my hands), I just want to play my handhelds, worry-free about looking dirty. I stew, I bake and broil when they have any smears and smudges, prints and oils...I don't want a handheld that I have to work hard to keep pristine. Just a fun, sharp and low maintenance machine.

Not after the gloss of 3DS current and the gloss touch screen of Vita :/

I'm keeping mine as a secondary streetpass machine, as well as a backup 3DS (battery dies, repairs, etc.)

I bought a new, bigger SD card in anticipation for buying some full games digitally. Should I just go ahead and copy everything off my current 3DS card onto the new card and use that one in my current system?

If I'm able to transfer, gonna go ahead and trade it in, if not I'm hoping to fall back on Amazon/Ebay.

I'll probably toss a few things in with it to sweeten the deal if I end up going the Amazon/Ebay selling route (Mario Kart stick, case etc.)
 
What are the chances of me walking in to a store on Sunday and picking one of these up? I know no one really knows, but with 3DS and Vita both launching within the past year or so I'm sure there's enough anecdotal evidence to give an estimate.
 
I got a buddy upgrading from a dslite to one of these and another trading in his 3ds like I am. We can finally have a proper circle jerk!

I don't think you'll have much of a problem at stores like Best Buy or Target.

Considering the fact that no retailers seem to be pushing the hardware just yet, I'd say Nintendo is aiming for a soft launch. The diehard fans will pick it up out of the gate, while Nintendo builds stock for the long tail.

I have a good feeling my transfer is going to take at least an hour, as I have somewhere between 4-5 gigs of stuff on my SD... :(
 
My local Staples broke the street date, the boxes were out and they sold one to me without issue. Currently transferring from my original aqua 3DS to my glorious new blue 3DS XL! It's glorious in it's massiveness.

Gonna call mine tomorrow. I have work on Sunday, so if I can get it beforehand, I can play during this weekend.
 
This thread convinced me to get one this sunday, what would you guys say is the must have game? (My brothers already getting Kingdom Hearts so).

I was thinking OoT since I've never played it but I dunno if im that into Zelda (never finish Phantom Hourglass which is the only Zelda I've played).
 
Many my screen protectors won't be here till wednesday so I'm going to have an even worse time owning the XL but not even being able to take it out of the box.

I'm not even into RE games and I was absorbed into it - amazing game with some amazing 3D.

Sure, here's a pic of them side by side. The lighting isn't great and it's with my cellphone, so the flash pushed the brightness on the XL a bit (it's not nearly that bright of a blue). The 3DS XL wasn't even in the computer properly yet at the Staples I went to, so the price came up as $999.99. Eventually I got a manager to come over and they checked the price online and corrected the mistake. It's so dramatically larger that it's going to take a bit of getting used to.

Sweet spot harder or easier to get into and lose? Depth feel greater?

150cc/Mirror is hell due to CPU. I've 3 starred 7/8 cups of 150cc after about 5 tries per cup and didn't start mirror yet... I don't want to :(

Thank God for bottom screen telling you the competitors items

Mirror mode is terrible. Oh, you are on a flying section? HAHAHAHA you fall off now because blue shell/red shell.

Oh you are in first? Lets make all the other computers go way faster than the top speed of your car.

Online is soooo much better. AT least when you lose, you can't blame it on the computer's rubberband A.I. or constant barrage of chrating items. (I mean seriously, right before you hit the finish line: Thunder, Blue shell, knocked off the course, red shell, starred, knocked off the course again, last place.) Screw MK's computers.
