Yes, yes, a million times YES! If you're a fan of old-school platformers, Mutant Mudds is the single best original game on the eShop. Yes, even including Mighty Switch Force and VVVVVV (which, don't get me wrong, are also excellent).

With both 3DSes, go to System Settings > Other Settings > System Transfer, and follow the prompts that follow. Done!

Thank you, I appreciate it.

How do DS games look on the 3DS XL versus the DSi XL?

I'm guessing they probably look a tad better on the DSi XL due to the native resolution but has anybody compared them?

You guys are making me fear that I might not be able to find a blue one.

Couldn't make it yesterday, damn those border crossing lines!

Good luck in getting a blue. I got a red because that's all they had left. It's not ugly is the nicest thing I can say about the color.

is DQ9 worth playing on the 3ds XL?

I think so. I've played a little bit of it on mine and I think it looks pretty good. The major upgrade for me is the circle-pad in it... the game had way too much diagonal movement for the dPad on the DSi I was using before.

Now that I've come to terms with hiccups I've faced when I upgraded to the XL and started playing my games, I've started falling in love with this thing, I'll reiterate how great the device's size, weight, battery life, and general build feel, and add that whoever claimed "it will breath new life into DS games" was right on the money. Granted I haven't samples all my 3DS games, as I've only tried DQVI, a few classics, and Pushmo, but they look leagues better in their native resolutions. Too bad about the sound quality and low volume though, those complaints still stand. I guess I have to get used using my headset more often.

Most of my lingering gripes stem from me owning the original 3DS, however if this is your first 3DS device, you're I'm for a nice treat.

They look like complete shit compared to the DSi XL. There's really no comparison. But if you want one system that plays 3DS and DS games, you need the 3DS XL. With it you have the option to play DS games stretched (you'll get used to the lower quality visuals) or in 1:1. On the XL games in 1:1 mode look exceptional.

Yup a lot of DS games look terrible on the 3DS XL. Any game where there are small one-pixel outlines (Pokemon, Radiant Historia) look awful. Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story actually looks alright since the black outlines are a lot thicker than 1 pixel, so the smoothness doesn't seem out of place.

Pokemon Black is the first one I tried yesterday on the XL, and yeah it was really really bad. Fortunately now 1:1 mode is a playable sized window.

There's no way I can go back to playing stretched DS games on this thing. Nintendo should have made it the default view or allowed me to set it from settings menu.

Okay, I just noticed a few minutes ago I have some very very very tiny scratches on the bottom right of the top screen where the bottom screen overlays on it. It's very minimal, but I can't believe this, it isn't like the original 3DS where it left smudges and then I can wipe them off, these are unable to be wiped off. They aren't noticeable at all, but I found them, and I need to prevent them from getting deeper or forming a straight line. Can any of you recommend a good affordable screen protector for the top and bottom screens, more so the top screen. I know you guys have already experienced this, but I didn't think it would happen to me, it wasn't even being squished anywhere so I don't know how this happened, it might have been through the tiny box in came packaged in, a lot of people were saying that they didn't use enough material or something. I also remember seeing a box with dented corners when I picked mine up at midnight from Walmart that night. So, please, anyone know of any good and affordable screen protectors? I'm putting a cloth in between for now.

I gave into the temptation (and the fact that JB HiFi is selling it for NZ$25 cheaper than everywhere else) and pre-ordered one...

Loving mine so far. I really don't think I'd be able to go back to the original all that easily. The Gamestop deal made it even sweeter. Sorry if it has been asked before, but does anyone know/have a good, relatively compact case available in the US? One that could fit into a cargo pocket or small bag without much issue? There seems to be very little available at the moment, or at least from what I can tell on Amazon.

Originally I was unsure about the red or blue colour options but ended up getting the red and really like the colour. So far my only real gripe is the worsened speakers compared to the 3DS, but having a handheld that actually fits my hands (hopefully no more cramps) far outweighs that.

Got a blue one yesterday and am currently addicted to NSMB2.

I really love that the d-pad is actually usable now. There was hardly any space to hold it on the original 3DS.

Haven't tried any DS games on it yet, but I'll probably try out Radiant Historia soon.

Is your d-pad wiggly/jiggles? Mine does on my Blue XL...

Whereas my purple 3DS has a snug/tight DPad that feels better constructed.

I'm wondering if I should retail exchange next week:

My hinge and DPad don't seem as tight as I'd like them to be :/

DSi XL is really the best way to play DS games....period. If all you have is a 3DS or 3DS XL, do yourself a favor and do *not* play a DSi XL. You will cry. There is just no comparison and it is better not to know. heh

Ya I didn't like the purse type wallet case so I bought this

for my RED XL and couldn't be happier.

Reposting. Any help would be greatly appreciated, guys.

Take it back to the store and get a replacement. The fact that Nintendo can't seem to fix this issue completely is depressing, but you're well within your rights as a consumer to take it back. If the store wont take it, call Nintendo and they'll initiate a return. Your issue wont get better, it can only get worse. That's not much help to you, but honestly there's no fix for a scratched screen other than replacing it.

Nice, thanks! I was searching online, but hadn't found these yet. Are there any that might be cheaper than that and still decent though?

Edit: Meh, after looking at that screen protector and the instructions for it, it sounds very easy and a lot easier to deal with, the whole sliding thing sounds simple and eliminates changes of extra dust getting inside. Does it come with more than one in case I mess up? :/

They are way too tiny for me to do that, they really don't bother me that much. Maybe the pouch I was carrying my XL in was too small (it's an original 3DS case, although it fit pretty well). I won't be returning it, believe the scratches are not noticeable at all, you'd have to angle it under the correct lighting and move the unit around a bit before you go "Oh.... those little things!" So, yeah, definitely not a big deal for me, I'm just putting something in between them until I get some screen protectors.

That's obviously your call to make. Just don't look for reasons to excuse the scratching. Putting it in a case that doesn't fit it properly shouldnt cause the bottom screen to scratch the top. If it does, it's a poor design. The clamshell design's main job is to prevent damage from being done to the screens. I personally hate screen protectors, but it sounds like you'd have better peace of mind with one.
