The hell is with all those comments in that article on Durante's Dark Souls' mod? Is it really worth arguing about?

There are some interesting and cool things that come out of that community from time to time but at the same time whenever I read article comments and live chat, I see so much garbage.

Virtua Athlete 2K was a much better game than this. I had both.

Loved doing the 1500m in Virtua Athlete. The runners would bounce off each other like pinball.

this was really enjoyable. loved the conversations and the chatroom was fun. probably one of the most enjoyable laid back live shows. Brad did a great job with the chat and Vinny/Drew were on fucking fire.

Glad to here. The last Olympiad was much too sedate for me.

The "problem" with Giantbomb is that their content is very closely tied to the current state of the industry. They need crazy stuff like Gameroom, Kinect, 360 Galge and general excitement to be at the top of their game. Unfortunately the current gen has gone on for too long. There is no experimentation, every company puts out sequel #2-4 for their big franchise. We don't get pie in the sky ideas from Allard, Molyneux etc.
Giantbomb will bounce back once the big 3 start their bullshit train again to ramp up for next gen.

Honestly, I feel like we've got quite a bit of content from the GB guys recently. Sure there are a lot of QL EXs, but if there's a choice between no QL or an EX, I'll take an EX. Some even turn out better than if it was just the guys, see: Double Fine and Dance Central QLs.

That being said, I can see where subscriber content may be lacking. Ryan's Olympics marathon was a good step, and it shows why the "state of the industry" has nothing to do with them not being able to deliver on what I want out of my sub: more coverage of quirky, old games. They're fun to laugh at, and sometimes they stumble upon a lost gem. This, along with Vinny, Drew, and Dave's enthusiasm, are why I love LOLS and Random PC Game so much...

I honestly get how it's easy to become jaded, I really do. But when you're not enjoying yourself, the audience can tell, and they probably won't enjoy themselves either. Again, this is why Vinny, Drew, and Dave are so beloved around here: they have a genuine interest in the games they're playing, and even if they don't think the game is great, they'll let themselves have a good time anyway. This isn't to say the others don't have good times either--obviously, the latest Madden QL showed that Jeff can laugh at a bad game too!--but it's much more consistent with the RPCG/Flightclub crew.

But I also see how this is just my opinion, and it is probably hard to justify doing, I don't know, a Planescape: Torment RPCG when there's a billion other things to take care of on the site, and a ton of games to review/QL. Like I said, this is just what I want--not necessarily would would actually be best for Giant Bomb.

So I noticed I wrote a blog post on their site about TNT. I found some things that we've been talking about in this thread recently and noticed I wrote it back in May. However, I was talking about Whiskey Media, then realized I wrote it in May 2011. Disheartening.
