We've signed a new player, Paul Corry from University College Dublin. 21-year old Irish centre-mid.

Any of our Irish contingent know much about him? Apparently this one is a little like the Rhys McCabe signing in that we beat out quite a bit of interest from other clubs in England to sign him. If he's half as good as McCabe we'll have a player on our hands.

I thought signing players from University happened only in USA.

Buttner looks like a proper stabby mentalist.

However, Evans is also in the U21s squad, so hopefully he'll be back imminently.

Didn't SAF meet Berbatov at the airport to stop Manchester City snatching him?

Yes, and he drove him away in the boot of his car.

I've got bad news guys, if Berba is indeed as lazy as these YouTube comments lead me to believe, then he's going to sit next to Conte and Iaquinta in the stands.
It's actually a baffling transfer from that point of view. He and Vucinic are going to be duking it out to be the most frustrating figure up front.

He's not lazy, I remember stats back 2 seasons ago when everyone would say the same showing he covered as much ground as any striker in the Premier League. He's also dedicated as hell, he's trained excellently and kept his head down and worked despite how he's been treated, imagine the fits most other top scorers in the PL would throw. You can tell he really wants to play, and if him to Juve is true, I'm glad. Also, I think he will do much better at Juve than United...he always seemed under such pressure at United, maybe because of his price.

When he wants to put himself about he can.

"Berbatov is, however, capable of adapting his style to play more directly when required; in April 2010, for example, with Rooney absent, Berbatov gave a performance against his former side Tottenham which, in James Ducker's words, was as if he had "decided to take it upon himself to impersonate the England striker". Combining uncharacteristic determination and effort with his regular technical skill, he contributed to the first Manchester United goal and helped United to a 3–1 victory."

I can't find any videos on YouTube but he marvellous in that match I remember.

This u21 competition is going to be good.

Caulker and Kane starting for Spurs. Good chance for these young players to get minutes.

Yup, strong United side it seems

Tottenham Hotspur ‏@SpursOfficial
Here is our starting line-up at United - Archer; Smith, Caulker, Hall, Byrne; Carroll, Mason; Falque, Kane, Townsend; Obika.

Tottenham Hotspur ‏@SpursOfficial
Our subs at MU - Ceballos, Vigouroux, Stewart, Veljkovic. MU include summer signings Buttner and Powell, plus Fletcher, Evans, Lindegaard.

Which two? (And by the by, if you picked 5 which 5 would they be.)

As for the other point, haha, maybe...but naturally football fans see things very differently once a player plays for their club. People were talking about Scholes vs Alonso earlier, in my mind it's immediate - Scholes is/was better - but I can see why a fan of another club, and obv. Liverpool, could see that differently. We can't help it.

I bet you youth players the world over can't wait to get to City. Couple of bad games, GTFO or go to the Championship.

I don't understand why he wouldn't want to move. He'd be a starting CB in Serie A.. nothing to sneeze at and a helluva lot better than sitting on the bench or playing in reserves, etc.

Either way, I'd like us to sign this kid up but if Savic won't move, it may be difficult. They don't want to have to find a replacement in 2 days.

It's not the case of him having a few bad games Mr Viva, do you think he's shown any sign of improving? The guys on Twitter who go and watch City train say he is immense in training, tackling and control perfect, passing top notch too. But he just hasn't shown it in games yet, he just looks a bit frail and a bit slow.

What better way to improve him then sending him to a demanding league like the Championship. It would do him the world of good.

I say we keep Savic a bit longer and just see.

Where's Angelo anyway? Is he with U de Chile?
No he's in Manchester now. He might still be flying in between getting set but he's staying in Manchester for the foreseeable future.

I think we should have let him stay there so I hope we have some plan for him. Pointless for him to just sit on the bench. The staff will probably asses him first for a few months and then decide what to do.

He plays for my University team.

Irelands Under 21 team is composed of players that play for teams in England. But he's one of the very few Irish based players that actually gets picked for our under 21s. He's decent enough.

lol

United U21 score in the second minute against Spurs.

At least this will console me:

Exactly, he's a very solid player. Actually I wouldn't mind having him as DM next to Schweini, but having Alonso as playmaker is like a Luiz Gustavo-Tymo midfield (ok, a bit better).

You are totally over looking the role that Alonso plays for Real Madrid. He is not just a defensive midfielder with just long passes but a deep play maker who receives the short passes from the back to dictate the pace of the game and drive Real up the pitch. His vision, awareness, short passing and long passing are some of the best around and he has always worked best when he has a more defensive minded midfielder next to him (Mascherano, Khedira, Busquets ect).

Diluting his role down and Alonso himself to a defensive midfielder is extremely ignorant. The modern game at the highest levels requires so much more.

Exactly.

If someone's referring to Alonso as a defensive midfielder then I'm not really that interested in their opinion of him.

Watch him sit on the fucking bench all year

At least doing it there will get him a league title next season.

According to Di Marzio, Berbasex to Juve is done. An agreement has been found with United over the payment method (5M€).

WELCOME TO JUVE, DIMITAR!
Good, really happy for him, having him on the bench is a travesty. Now he can enjoy slower Serie A and shower his genius all over Juve's rivals.

Where is this from?

Alonso the best playmaker in world football?
Sahin, Schweinsteiger, Pirlo, Vidal are miles ahead of him in playmaker skills. Alonso is a DM with vision and passing skills like Javi or other Yaya Toure.

When Del Bosque played a midfield of Xavi-Alonso-Busquets the people in Spain were saying it was redundant to play both Alonso and Busquets because they both are DMs.

Maybe Alonso was playing as playmaker in Liverpool, but atm he's a DM with long passess and nothing else.

I do think Javi is better than last season Alonso.

Berba to Juve is such a good transfer. Made up for him.

serieA is made for berba. the slower pace will make his technical ability shine

mixed emotions really, never liked him much but never hated him like ashley young either and he would produce moments of magic at times. but ill remember that hat trick and the over head goal against the bin dippers for a long time

Berbatov signs a 2 year deal earning 1.8m a year + bonuses.

United get 1m this year and 3.5m next.

Juve. You. Bastards.
Wow, as I have said before I'm quite happy with Berbatov, but I wish we will sign Bendtner, so that everytime he scores I can tell to everyone here, see you guys, is good!!!
The 10 times that he scores
:P
So who is going to take Bendtner now?
Fiorentina probably.
This all but confirms we're still in for another striker.
So there's still hope!? lol

Adam Smith is going to be a top class RB. I hope we see him in the Europa League.

Crerand is such a twat. On Rooney's injury:

'These things happen but why should they happen to us?'
