New Multiplayer Halo 4 screenshots and video

Two worries, one question
Why the fuck is the tank still in the multiplayer? The Wraith works just fine no iteration of the Scorpion has. IMO of course. It is not even fun to drive...
No flag dropping? What amazing griefing possibility. EDIT i'm fine with no flag running, prefer it that way.

And the question, do we know how the AA Camo in Halo 4 works? I don't mind it but the radar jammer sucked in Reach (if it jammed yours only, that wouldn't be an issue).

Otherwise, looks good, fast and fun.

This is looking and sounding great, the environmental art direction is fantastic looking. Im loving how alive and alien it all looks. This game just looks very fresh, and most of all it looks fun.

Halo's never been about graphics, not this gen anyway, it's always been about the incredibly fun multiplayer.

Although Halo 4 does looks fantastic.

Yeah, Im loving the 'flagsassination', cheesy or not.

A few bits of info from PAX goers:

- You can't drop the flag in CTF. Once you pick it up, you're seemingly stuck with it.
- Flag carriers have a waypoint marker over their head that's visible to both allies AND enemies.

It also looks like flag carrier speed seems to be quite a bit faster, though this is hard to tell from shaky came videos. My guess is that 343 is attempting to change the pace of the game. Once your team grabs the flag, there's no sneaking around. You've got to haul ass before the enemy team can respond and set-up an offensive.

Also, first info on the auto-sentry armor ability: "Autosentry is a stationary bot that shoots at enemies, fairly powerful. Vulnerable while deploying. Lasts about 30 sec, easily destroyed."

What? I don't understand this post. Especially that part about Halo 2 being fun.

Halo 4 looks leagues better than the previous games. Kudos to the art team there.

Halo 2 had the best and still will be the best console multiplayer fps unless 343 rekindles some magic with Halo 4.

I hope you can turn off the marker for local multiplayer. Long battles on coagulation with both teams hiding the flag were awesome.

Yeah, I imagine you can. But it's what's in matchmaking that really matters to me. And with what we've seen at PAX today, I'm kinda worried...

Yea, I agree with the others who say the ground looks kinda pooish, it looks like they stretched a skin over the whole thing much like an older game. Besides that, it looks great.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of fanfare behind this...
Most Halo discussion on GAF takes place in the community side thread these days, if that's what you mean.

Edit : And 343 will have official PAX panels tomorrow, so expect a lot of clarification + new info.

As mentioned before, the reason ADS wouldn't work in Halo is that the implementation is meant for an entirely different style of play. Personally I don't have a problem with it in games like CoD because they are built with it in mind (ie. firing from the hip is highly inaccurate compared to aiming down the sights and you can die relatively fast). To balance that, you are made a lot more immobile while zooming in.

This doesn't work in Halo because you have a pretty large amount of health compared to CoD or Battlefield. Imagine how a 1v1 gun fight would go down between two people both using ADS when it takes 4 seconds or more of continuous fire to kill someone. They would essentially be standing still firing at each other for 5 seconds (doesn't sound like a lot but count it out). In CoD it only takes 2 seconds or more to down someone (less if you headshot). Halo is more about being able to escape and counter attacks whereas CoD is a little more about getting the drop on people. I'm sure someone else can explain this a little better but that's why it's a little more than just an option. It would fundamentally change the style of gameplay.

Nope, I started with Wolfenstein and Doom. Then I played a shit load of Vietcong where ADS started, transferred to Americas Army etc.... Maybe I'm a fan of realism and accuracy who knows.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Halo series, but I would at least like the option of enabling ADS.

Totally off topic, but I really dislike arm chair warriors who say "ADS". They are iron sights, scopes, etc. "ADS" (aim down sight) sounds absolutely arm char warrior and stupid.

That said, having sights in a game does not make it realistic, specifically when you can pick up health packs, regenerate health, or survive multiple bullets. :)

I really don't think this would be the case at all. I know they perceive it that way, but I don't think it would hurt system sales. Xbox and PC as platforms are designed to be almost interchangeable based on your preference. Some people like the simplicity of a console and always will. Don't see how releasing it on both of their platforms could hurt that. It's a myth. If I didn't have an Xbox right now, it's not like I'm running out to get one to play Halo 4, but I would buy it if it was on PC...

It's not like they don't shoot themselves in the foot in other ways all the time anyways...

On topic: FLAGSASSINATION

It would definitely hurt system sales. This is like saying putting uncharted and killzone on PC wouldn't hurt sony.

halo 3 printed money and sold 360s, and to you it was a huge mistake..........

its an xbox exclusive, buy it there or dont play

Ok evidently I'm beating a dead horse, but I disagree completely and already went to the trouble to write this again so I'm leaving it after this:

Post:

You're making an assumption that having Halo games on PC would actually be a detriment to console sales. There is no way to know if this would actually be true. My argument is that the number of copies and consoles sold as a result of having it only on Xbox is possibly not as beneficial as, for example, giving it a year or more head start on Xbox and then having a PC version at a later date once you've made your money. You'd net a crap load of people not wanting to wait.

Anyways, I don't understand the hostility really. I said previously I already have a 360, so I'm obviously getting the game. However, if I didn't have one, I would not be getting the game (in other words, for me, their strategy to get me to buy an Xbox and the game had no effect. I don't think owning a console for a single game is worth it). There is massive untapped sales potential for this game on PC (another MS platform that previously had Halo games, where Halo: CE excelled and 2 only fizzled because of Vista and it was a bad port). That's all I'm trying to say. I have a feeling MS juggles this idea a lot. Halo is the perfect title to flagship Xbox Live for Windows 8. It's potentially a missed opportunity, but they have more hard data than I do, so I can only speculate.

You don't have to agree with me, and I fully understand what your saying, I just don't think it's that black and white.

Thanks for those that posted that YouTube video because I wouldn't have found it. It looks like it plays like a mix of H2, H3 and Reach. This could be great as I missed that feeling of how good H2's multiplayer was.

WTF does it matter? And from my experience, ADS is the more commonly accepted, versatile term.

There's a reason these games are called "system sellers".

I bought a 360 for Halo, much like I bought a Wii for Mario and Zelda.

Putting Halo 4 on PC would absolutely hurt the long term sales of the 360.

Your reasoning is ridiculous.

that looked amazing. carring a gun with the flag will change CTF forever. why couldnt they release it in september like the last 2 (3?) halo games. WHYYYYYY

any newn on a custom game search? never going to happen :(

Btw kids, it's called hyperbole.

The basics of the games are pretty much the same though. And if you deny that, you're just lying to yourselves.

We know what hyperbole is, it's why your comment is ridiculous. Also, yes, it's a shooter. They're in the same genre; you have an awful point.

I must know how the fuck 343 are getting these visuals out of 7 year old hardware while keeping the full Halo feature set.

Hoooooooowwwwwwwwww?

Really? Look buddy, having Halo: CE on PC (Mac, no less, which they probably shouldn't have done) did not hurt the Xbox one bit, otherwise they wouldn't have ported the sequel as well. Now that the original Xbox Live is dead, a few people have actually gone out and bought Halo 2 Vista so they can play the thing online again. How selling the same game to someone twice is a bad move, I have no idea.

I'm not saying I'm definitely, 100%, absolutely, undeniably correct because I don't have any hard data to make that claim. I don't see why you are special in this regard.

peeeeeaaaace ouuuuttttt broooooo

They released those games much later on PC as to not cannibalize sales. So, yeah, selling it twice is a great idea, as long as priority is put on Xbox.

It did hurt MS. That's why we have PC port begging in every MS published game and people posting "Will get when its released on PC," or "Xbox exclusives come out for PC that's why I have system x and a PC."

Both PC versions literally came out 2 years after the console version.

I don't really see your point.

2 years from now no one will care about the 360. So yeah, duh it won't hurt the console sales then.

I have a hard time getting excited over seeing a short video with overpowered superweapons and vehicles. I hope they've done something in the years since Halo 3 about vehicles that are seemingly oblivious to physics. I don't know how many times I have seen a warthog flip end over end and the gunner and driver stay firmly attached to their positions and keep right on going.

But I mostly just hate vehicles and ridiculous weapons in slayer modes.

But anyway, I didn't touch the MP in Reach and haven't read anything about 4, so I don't know if these things have changed. Don't know that I'll play MP in 4 either way.

Game and graphics looks great and I'm not even interested in the MP =p

Pretty sure those first few are bull shots.

Why does this crap mostly come up in Halo threads? 99% of the screens released are bullshots, pointing this out is pointless. Should I expect you people to be making the same obvious observation in threads for other games?

Every Halo 4 thread....
Well the first post says it "looks like artwork". One extreme to the other I'd say. Better let it roll if you're neutral because making a fuss over the fact that it doesn't look like artwork (unless minimized; still looks good, don't jump on me yet) would start a gigantic flame war.
