So far the cards for that look pretty damn strong and now with something to deal with hexproof it keeps sigarda slightly more in check.
When I look at the overload cards I just keep thinking that Bonfire is probably better in most situations.

Haven't seen one yet where Bonfire wouldn't be better. But, honestly, how could they even make Bonfire better? Add lifelink?

Why are people saying Jace's -2 puts you two cards up? You're revealing 3, so the split will always be 1-2, meaning you either get the best card or two others. You should only expect to draw one card off of it, but you can expect it to be the best card from the top 3 of your library.
If protected, he will draw a card every other turn for 4 mana. He's okay. His casting cost is his only saving grace; at 4cc, his +1 is probably more relevant than it looks. But I can't help but think that in most situations, Amass the Components would have been just as good.
I'm probably wrong though.![]()
Have you played with Fact or Fiction? You put pressure on your opponent to make the correct decision on what cards they think you will want. The fact that they don't have the information of what cards you already have in your hand puts them at a disadvantage.
Absolute worst case scenario it's a 4 mana sorcery speed Impulse that only digs 3 cards deep. It's no where near as broken as FoF or JTMS but it is still reasonably costed mana-wise and his power level is reasonable.
NayaPod. (I would know. Are there any tier one decks using bonfire?
Fact or Fiction (a) is an instant and (b) digs five cards deep.
Jace 4.0 (a) is sorcery speed (b) digs three cards deep (c) can theoretically do it more than once if your opponent has no relevant board presence.
Every turn Jace is trying to protect himself, he's not drawing cards. And he's only good when he's drawing cards, and he's chewing through loyalty to do so. If he only activates his -2 once, then he really is no better than Amass the Components with half of a Fog attached. He has to hit that -2 more than once to be anything special, and his +1 is just not going to be that good at keeping him alive to get that second activation of his -2.
Now, if you have a little army already (say Lingering Souls), you could drop him, -2, and then -2 again for a significant advantage. That seems pretty spicy.
His +1 is deceptively good.I've already addressed both of the differences in Jace 4 and Fact or Fiction. Fact or Fiction is one of the most broken, overly powerful cards ever printed. All I did was point out that pressuring your opponent into making two different piles of cards for you to draw is a good thing. You can always draw at least two cards off of him. His +1 is underwhelming but seeing as how with rotation we're losing 4 sets worth of cards I'm willing to see how he plays out in a new environment.
NayaPod. (I would know.)
Daily MTG has updated and official spoilers have begun. The new Niv-Mizzet is neat:

Can't you, technically, have this and old Niv out at the same time?
Yeah, I think it will actually wind up being pretty relevant but again, I'd like to see more of RTR before judgment is passed.
The new Isperia seems kind of crazy.

Totally expecting Super Simic Sky Swallower (w/ Hexproof!) though.
Have they spoiled them for all the guilds?
Man, I sure hope that the leaders are the guild specific prerelease promos. Though probably not since giving everyone a crazy bomb they can use would make Sealed kind of ridiculous. And they don't do mythics as promos anymore.
^ Definitely makes playing U/W attractive at the prerelease.
Wait, you can actually use the promo for your deck at prerelease?
Not normally, but for this one they said you can.
Hey, quick question. I'm attacking a player who controls a planeswalker (yes I'm attacking the player not their pw.) Can THEY redirect the combat damage I'd deal to them to their planeswalker? I know I can choose to attack the walker or the player with each creature and that I can only redirect non combat damage to opposing planeswalkers but someone in my playgroup insists that they can basically "fog" all the combat damage they would take as the defending player by redirecting the damage to their walker. Only the opposing player can ever redirect ANY damage to a planeswalker correct? And even then it must be noncombat damage, right?
Wow that was a lot longer than I intended but I just wanted to be clear. Thanks!
Yes, although depending on the pack they usually won't give you MSRP.Are there bots on MTGO that buy packs for tickets? So if you come second place in an 8-4 you can draft again for 'free'?
