Wait. You're saying the Vita has strong WW sales? What?!
Didn't you know Vita was saved at the last gameshow..
COD will be amazing!

Well going by the logic that some in this thread believe, yes it is wrong. I bet the EULA for Dark Souls also states that modifying game code (such as via DirectX injections) is a violation. You are not using the game as the original license intends.
So going by some of the actual responses here it sounds to me like some of you don't give a crap what bad things this could invite to the platform so long as you have some convenience that benefits you personally.
Is it worth it to me? Absolutely. Do I care what other people do on a system? Nope. Did PSP games continue to sell well in Japan, where developers were actually making good games? Yup.

He meant the psp(70 million units sold).Wait. You're saying the Vita has strong WW sales? What?!
Not every system that got hacked and had a simple widely accessible method of piracy had issues, see DS, Wii, PS1, the entire Gameboy line.Am I a Chicken Little?
Any chance someone could post the top twenty selling Vita titles, and the number of units each sold? Remember this is a system that moved over 70 million units.
Maybe also give a comparison with a top twenty sales of another system that also sold around the same number of units.
I would imagine that a system with such strong sales worldwide would have some pretty strong software sales.
This may be true, but writing off the effect of piracy on the PSP in this way seems misguided. "well" is good enough? How good is "well". It's ok to ignore the notion that development and sales were still hugely adversely affected by piracy? If they sold well, just think how good the game and support could have been.
Who gives a shit. Really.
I wouldnt have brought Dark Souls PC if it wasnt for the res mod. Neither would have many others.
It is, and you can support it financially by purchasing Jet Set Radio HD on October 16 at a budget price to encourage Sega to release upgraded versions of other Dreamcast titles on the Vita.
You're assuming that PSP's software sales would have been a lot higher without piracy. That's what I'm hearing as well.

I would postulate that software sales would have still sucked and hardware sales would never have been as good as they ended up being without piracy.
I'm not writing anything off. I'm simply saying that it is the publisher's job to convince people not to pirate something by offering a product people want to own. It is not worth the consideration of consumers to think about what "sacrifices" we have to make to help companies make more money. That's upside down thinking. If you want to have that mindset, be my guest, just don't be surprised when people laugh at you for it.
Only within the framework of what Sony wants their system to be. You are ignoring that there are people who disagree with the framework to begin with. Like how accounts and memory cards are being managed by the OS for example. Not everything fits into a simple niche which can be declared "good" or "bad" objectively.
I guess I'm a one off where I've occasionally played a game I didn't own to see how it was. I'm also obsessed with owning my game collection so if I played the game for more than a few min and enjoyed it, I bought it.
Oh I don't give a shit. For some reason, some people have allowed their rights to be annexed by corporate lawyers and seem proud of it. Not me!
I believe that I can install a hack to improve my experience with a piece of software like Dark Souls just like I believe that I can install a hack onto my VitaPS3whatever to use the hardware as I see fit.

Vita dead
An open platform is more beneficial to consumers. Sorry that'll never change.
Au contraire, this will make it sell more than 3DS!
Sorry I can't say the same about its games...
Then why not use their own open software?

Seriously if Sony is making a profit of the consoles...this is good for them.
Retailers were already dropping support for the Vita. Less than 1 console per retailer average over the past few months....This might actually help keep Vita a float before more retailers abandon support.
Many gaffers were reporting PSV being pulled from there local gamestop already.
I don't think any of those things made driving pubishers off worthwhile.
And while it's nice to be able to rip your games to memory card and have your collection with you at all times, those same firmware hacks allowed piracy.
Yeah, I don't think it would fit. It has 512 of system ram and 128 of vram.
It has that 4gig of flash memory, but that's not anywhere as fast as the ram, like a typical android would have.
The SIII has 2 gigs of RAM.
The SII has 1 gig.
My local Tesco, a MASSIVE superstore variety (its like currys upstairs) has withdrawn all vita placements apart from half a bay hidden next to the microwaves.
The 3DS and DS has an entire side of an aisle.
except PS Suite/Mobile was made for this was it not? People will hack any console/handheld regardless if its "Hombrew Friendly" or not.

The Wii was locked before it got hackedThe Wii and DS got cracked wide the fuck open, and Nintendo got pissed and LOCKED THEIR SHIT THE FUCK DOWN.
ics runs pretty well on my nexus one, haven't tried jellybean yet, but its available. why wouldn't the much faster vita be able to handle it?
n1 specs:
CPU 1 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion
GPU Qualcomm Adreno 200
Memory 512 MB
Storage 512 MB (190 MB application storage)

There's something called "Demo".I guess I'm a one off where I've occasionally played a game I didn't own to see how it was. I'm also obsessed with owning my game collection so if I played the game for more than a few min and enjoyed it, I bought it.
portable Dreamcast would be SICK!
Because it is limited fro m using the full potential of the hardware, and subject to Sony's approval and wishes.
Thats why.
No, talking about the hackers own open software, not the software that comes with the Vita. That's the thing. People who hack their devices often still use majority code from the developer, and not an open source one.
So going by some of the actual responses here it sounds to me like some of you don't give a crap what bad things this could invite to the platform so long as you have some convenience that benefits you personally.
It works the other way around too. The convenience invites interest in the platform that wouldn't be there otherwise. At least, that is how it is for me. Which is good for Sony: an extra Vita sold, plus all the software I would buy. There are probably more people like me that have an interest in Vita but do not like the restrictions of it now.
Not as such.
Case in point: the Wii Homebrew Channel. 100% original code.

Aaaand it launches off of what OS?
The impressions for Remote Play for Shadow of Collosus and GoWHD have been positive, if hombrew happens I hope all PS3 games have remote play and mayne even PC games.
