I did, but that doesn't mean that I can't be upset about inconsistent character development. I hate how after two seasons of everything they've been through, Amy and Rory get divorced off screen because...well, babies? It really is a slap in the face to everythng they've been to, and makes no sense.
And that's the problem with current Who. It's all glitz and glamour. I don't care about zombie Daleks, explosions or hot women. This is Doctor Who, not a Michael Bay film. That stuff is meaningless without some substance behind it, and Asylum had none. The plot was paper thin, the characters were vapid, and there was no real point to any of it. To quote the Doctor: "But what is it for?"
Narratively, this was the best episode Moffat has written since A Christmas Carol, but it all just felt flat. I don't care about zombies or explosions, unless they're providing a window in which to tell strong stories and reflect upon society.

The issue with the exploding Tardis is that it appeared to be part of the Evil Plan rather than an unintended side effect. Prisoner Zero says something like "The Universe is cracked - silence will fall", implying the cracks and the silence were connected. I suspect Moffat just changed his mind about the Silence's motivations.
I doubt it's so much that he wanted to as that he could, at that moment, get Alex Kingston to commit to enough episodes to tie up her loose ends, and couldn't guarantee the same situation arising in the future. She's not exactly hurting for work.

This is what I think. To do the character right, I think she should've popped up here and there, slowly dripping out her story over the course of 5 - 7 years. Somewhere along the line she's a full-on, in-the-opening-credits companion. I think if they wrote her sharply enough, she could have the import to the doctor that was always implied without it feeling like it was forced, or rushed for time.

I do get the impression that their relationship was in Moffat's head as a possibility from the very start (though not a certainty) and he saw a window and took it while he had the chance.

Anyone else found it weird how in the rebooted series they made a big deal about donning disguises to fit into older time periods, and then completely just gave up on that as time went on?
Psychic paper now seems to be enough.
I'll never get the complaints of the Weeping Angels being "overused". Not counting the upcoming episode, they've only had three episodes total, and two of them were part of the same story.

Had Delgado not died, we would have gotten more. ... Actually that's not true. There were plans to kill off the Master in the Third Doctor's regeneration serial (and reveal he was like an evil part of him or something like that) but Delgado's death put an end to those plans.

They could do something crazy by having Matt, David and Alex do a 50th anniversary episode that buggers around with Silence in the Library. Sod it, stick Chris in there too.
Man, that premier was terri-bad. Have they completely swapped out the writers or something? The whole episode was a clunky mess and only started to get enjoyable near the end. From the slo-mo action shots to the illogical divorce of a marriage created by a million near death experiences that is somehow saved by yet another near death experience is just utter garbage. Amy and Rory should have exited the show a full year ago, it seems the show is desperately trying to cling on to what made previous seasons great. The plot twist was pretty weak but at least it has a purpose to drive the story line in a new direction.
Most Dr.Who episodes contain a sense of magic or wonder. The character of the doctor in the last episode felt completely flat while Amy felt like she was trying way too hard to act like a tough ass seasoned time traveling explorer.
The souffle girl was a generally interesting character and I wish that they would have just turned her into the new companion so we wouldn't have to see Amy and Rory regularly anymore.

I don't get it either, they've only had one appearance (one story, two episodes) in the three series since "Blink". Two if you count Angels Take Manhattan.

Nice bit of foreshadowing in Asylum that I never noticed before; Human Daleks make lightbulbs and electronics flicker and short out. Hence, Oswin's Dalek eye camera shorts out when Amy and Harvey arrive.
