Woh dare.

One can love a product and still voice their opinions on what they dislike about dude. Labeling it as whining is totally irrelevant. Reason you may not understand it is because you may not care about the faults and have no need to get them fixed. The iPhone is amazing, yet they've been continuing to neglect things about it that could make it an almost perfect phone. Oh and uh, i never said I prefer Android. I actually wish I could afford both phones right now.

The thing is, I never see NEAR the level of entitlement when it comes to android or windows phone on the Internet as I do with ios and iphone, and the constant bitching and threats of switching platforms. Yet, in the real world nothing touches the customer satisfaction metrics of the os and its related products. Yes, I consider it whining when you can't even articulate what you actually want, have no idea what you want, and call every iOS update "the same" as the previous, even though that couldn't be further from the case. Suggests a case of intellectual laziness and disingenuousness. So yes, switch, it will give you some perspective. I did, and came back to Apple, cause I experienced everything else out there and the major shortcomings, and realized it was just nerds on the Internet who made out everything non apple to be so amazing, glossing over all the flaws and low points, and that the "iOS is years behind" meme is such laughable horse-shit.

more actual features or just features that are relevant to your interests? I'm also not really sure it's fair to compare the jump for a yearly update to one that was 6 months..there was plenty more little things added to my galaxy nexus than just google now and project butter (just like iOS6!)

Then again, this usually just devolves into a pissing contest.
you're probably going to want to edit that post, but my favorite feature of an android phone is to actually be able to download music from blogs in a similar fashion to what you do rather than just be stuck streaming them/waiting until I reach a PC to be able to stick it on my phone. None of the current platforms really have the low-level file management abilities that symbian phones did except android, which is unfortunate in my opinion (not wrong, just not my preference)

Bro, I said it had a lot of added features- a feature is a feature, regardless if it's relevant to my interest or not. Is that he we're defining features now? They don't count, less they're "relevant" to the specific interests of everyone in the world? There's 'features' and 'actual features'? Wow. To is what I mean when I say entitlement and skewed perspective. My point was ios6 has more added features than the OS updates on competing platforms, whether they're "relevant" to your interests is really irrelevant when making that statement or defining that metric. Adding 1000 features that you don't care about doesn't mean they added nothing.

I just want a new keyboard damnit. I've been an iPhone owner for many years now and I still have problems typing on it. I was hoping with a wider screen it might be easier to type with my big hands, but that's not looking like it could happen. Lol. Atleast redesign it and add a damn period button or tab on the default keyboard face...

Other than that I'm looking forwards to iOS6. Googie maps has always ticked me off.

I'm curious now...is there any good keyboards (similar to androids I guess) available through jailbreak?

I've used every keyboard for every major smartphone out there, and the iphone one is still the best. By far. Text prediction accuracy kills everything else. Not sure what you're talking about, and what exactly you'd want in a new keyboard.

What a load of unsubstantiated bollocks.

Yeah, that post was pretty much horse shit. Love how he stated android is killing iOS in sales "because of the GS3s large screen", ignoring the facts that
1. the vast majority of android sales come from cheap ass phones and the gs3 sales mean very little when it comes to total android sales,
2. He's comparing recent quarterly/monthly sales of a just launched, hyper advertised flagship phone from Samsung to..sales of an 11 month old phone, then using this to jump to a bunch of conclusions. Wow. Objectivity and logic at work here folks. Some people will twist facts in really amazing ways to make their "point". Yeah, these numbers clearly mean that Apple is doomed and people are switching away from them in droves. Because of fuzzy math and reasons and stuff.

I was trying to describe something like this:

20120910-gn9dkm6qnney3ws8ei6nrhh92.png

Keyboard would be the exact same size (horizontally and vertically) as they were in previous models, meaning the keyboard wouldn't be covering the entire length of the screen. You wouldn't be losing out on more screen space.

Anyhow, we'll know soon enough. :)

I hope the keys will be bigger as well as the whole screen. The keyboard now (vertically, but even horizontally) is mostly too small for my fingers. :/

Trollish, clueless, aggressive iPhone article from Forbes..

Bitching about the same tired memes that consumers have shown they don't give a shit about and according to tech bloggers were supposed to be the downfall of the phone a long time ago, including non-removable battery, non removable storage, and...wait for it....not including a case in the iPhone box! And what's Apple primary motivation for all these decisions? Screwing the consumer and squeezing every penny of profit out of you, of course!

PS- Third party case manufacturers would love that last one, and it's not like people have shown they like to individualize iPhones with their own chosen case. Nope, Apple should choose for us and include it in the box, so that everyone can bitch that they're paying for a case they don't want. Not to mention the fact that Apple would probably prefer people NOT to use a case, in order to better show off the product.

So moronic.

Depends entirely on the implementation - and that's one of the big barriers that has been slowing things down a little bit, there are no standards imposed on securing an NFC transaction. Because the transaction is so frictionless, it is desirable to impose a 2nd factor from the owner of the user. In regular cards it is a signature, and we know how laughably broken that is. As such the implementations I've seen have included a pin (making it similar to most european debit card type transactions), face recognition (its fast, but 'eh), and some of the more advanced ones actually use a signature generated from a finger.

This sounds like it could be really useful if a body like the EU steps in to impose standards.

Wow, he's always what I expected a troll to look like. Amazing.

Also not shocking that these kinds of people do not and will never understand the reasons for Apple's success, with the non existent level of insight they exhibit.

Yeah, every year without fail in the run up to their events. He at least does look the part though!

There are going to be possible questions to ask on Wednesday, but none of the ones he wheeled out again.

2 more days, then months of speculations of BS rumors come to an end

Don't forget the rumored October event... Which sets us up nicely for iPad 4 rumor mill going into full swing at year-end.

If no iPods are shown on Wednesday, that'd be a huge tell for an October event, so I'm pretty confident we'll see iPods. :/

Yeah, then we can look forward to all the click-baiting, hit-whoring " new iPhone a disappointment" , "has Apple lost its way", "where's the innovation?", "Steve Jobs would be rolling in his grave", "iPhone: 10 things Apple should have done", articles, along with some manufactured "controversy" or "flaw" to be sensationalized and made the story of the century.

Are you ok chap? Genuine question btw.

Your posts seem to come across as though there's an uptight feeling or something. Chill man. Haters gonna hate regardless of what Apple do.

Well done video.

Also I think all long time iOS users pining for android should just save yourselves time and switch already. The sooner you do it the sooner you can realize all that you take for granted and come back. Just get it over with.

Lifetime iPhone user since the 1st gen through iPhone 4. Bought a galaxy nexus a month ago. more than likely note coming back. I'll be waiting for the next nexus device.

iOS is dated and after all these years quite ugly. It's basic premise has remained unchanged in terms of the interface and ios6 doesn't look to advance that appeal. after having the freedom to install apps that do things that don't require jail breaking and being able to output hd video to my tv without an expensive proprietary cable, I'm not sure apple can win my business back. iPhone is a great product, but it doesn't do some of the basic things it should. and While I hated android and the silly dessert names initially, the platform has matured and jelly bean is a beautiful OS on an asthetic level.

It's just a phone. Jesus.

I love that. I did not know that people still cared about user-replaceable batteries or even micro USB on an iPhone. I mean I don't even bother syncing my phone to iTunes anymore and I have more than enough chargers. Besides, we're getting that new mini-plug dock connector (though some may see that as a strike against it).

Wouldn't it have been a good idea then to not read and on top of that link the Forbes article here?

Anyone have any experiences with purchasing/pre-ordering straight from your carriers website?

I'm trying to get a discount on my service (Sprint) through where I work, but I also want to make sure I get one on launch day. Apparently the deal only works through Sprints website.

My 3GS is ready.

I dunno man, and it's nice to be able to pop a freshly charged battery in on the road when needed or buy an extended. Non removable battery isn't a deal breaker but having the ability to swap out is a bonus.

It's definitely basic in comparison to other phone operating systems but I wouldn't say it's ugly.

The look of iOS is part of the reason why it's so easy to use and fast in comparison to other phone operating systems IMO. Really doubt it will have any major changes any time soon in terms of look.

I'm specifically referring to the eyesore that is the home screen. I have to admit that after so many years of using iOS I'm fatigued of it, but there's no excuse for having icons all over the wallpaper like that after 5 years.

You're excited About your new shiny thing, not really fair to base impressions of 5 yrs vs one month. I did the same thing as you, several times. I eventually came back each time, because of various issues usually related to sub par hardware and software, but mostly because of the disappointing app situation. Got frustrated every time I found out a cool app I heard about and wanted was ios exclusive. iOS is like that friend that's kinda boring and not so fun at parties, but who is ultra reliable, loyal, ad u can count on at the end of the day.

Oh, I don't agree Android in any way looks better than iOS.

I change my wallpaper every year or so to keep things fresh.

It can look pretty nice with a good wallpaper.

Jelly Bean looks very nice.. But look of the OS isn't really why I'm switching from Android to iOS. Main reason is not even speed of the OS as Jelly Bean is very fast on the new phones. It's more about lack of support by the device manufacturers, as well as the apps put on Android tend to be an afterthought after the iPhone brethren. I'm ready to have the best version of every app, and to have access to some of the games I've missed.

Background image is more important than applications.

Yeah. The problem with iOS is that if you put too busy a background image, it + the icons turns the screen into visual vomit. I usually stick to dark, mostly solid colour images for precisely that reason. I also don't have any folders on the first homescreen because the masses of tiny icons just exacerbate the problem.
