College Football Week 4 - Congratulations to the SEC on another MNC

The keys are having your school be on a bye/on the road and a crippling lack of social life.

Also having at least one good game for each "time" sections (1 early game, 1 afternoon game, 1 mid afternoon game, 1 late game), or at least a laffer of a game.

Having a laptop/IPad/Posting device on the couch helps.

Lack of Social Life is a requirement. An assumed one.

SEC guys are in agreement.

Auburn's gonna die this weekend.

Everyone wave at Dammittmattt. He's reading this, I'm sure of it.

Most likely. I'm not very confident in Mettenberger as a QB at LSU, but Auburn is utterly inept on both sides of the ball. Mettenberger certainly has the build of a pro-style QB and could have had a shot at being UGA's QB right now if he wasn't an idiot.

Most of my posts are during the week. I don't post during my team's games.. I'm far too stressed out. This Saturday I don't know if I'll post at all as it's a busy day right up until when the Georgia game starts.

He also had a shot at the Louisville Cardinals until he plead guilty, although I'm obviously glad it didn't work out with him.

If I didnt spend 7:00am- 5:00pm for noon kickoffs down at the shoe my post count would be tons higher. Only time I can talk football during games are the late kicks or if we're on the road.

so is

The Spike Factor

The rating where the act of spiking the ball nets a similar result of the actual play that was ran, is tallied.

Runner Up: USC
It may seem like piling on because, well, it is, but USC is this week's runner-up after 36 of the 68 plays they ran against Stanford went nowhere, for a Spike Factor percentage of 52. I'm sure Lane Kiffin will swallow his pride and refuse to lay the blame with someone HA HA FOOLED YOU. Tetanus glory eludes the Trojans this week, however, as we reserve the greatest of ignominies for...
Astronomically high. 52% of the time, Barkley should have just spiked the ball. How USC was in this game, I don't know.

1st place goes to Wake Forest, with a Spike factor of 56%.

To compare how bad Wake Forest did, Arkansas spike factor was 42%, and they looked like shit.

I know Tech has just played creampuffs so far this year, but last year after three games (Texas State, New Mexico, and Nevada) we were ranked 95th in the country in defense; this year after three games (Texas State, New Mexico, and Northwestern State) we're ranked 2nd.

We'll drop like a rock once we start playing against some real teams, and I don't expect us to finish in the top half of the country (wouldn't put a bet on top 75%, either) but damn, so far the difference is night and day.

Explain to me why I'm nervous about the Gators facing Kentucky.. at home.. a week after the Wildcats lost to Western Kentucky. Please.

Is it because the Gators still don't have an identity in the passing game and are completely reliant on their running game/schemes? That, due to injuries, we're down to bare minimum on linebacker and secondary depth? Is it because our defensive line can't generate a consistent pass rush on their own?

I'm really missing Ronald Powell here. And no doubt Jelani Jenkins is a big loss. At least our new Buck playing pretty awesome (Lerentee McCray).

The versatility on offense is huge.. with playmakers all over the place. But our one reliable running back (Gillislee) is tender and probably will be for a while (groin) and we have no definite, consistent downfield threat with WRs Hammond, Dunbar, Patton and Debose.

The pieces are in on the table for a pretty good offensive machine but they haven't been set in place yet - It's like a hundred individual pieces to a fine clock have been stuffed inside its case haphazardly to create a time piece whose second hand stutters between 10 and 11.. back and forth.. until, unexpectedly it races along, spinning past hours within in moments and then stops again. And then you realize you left out like a dozen cogs and springs.

oh, and:

Coach Trick, excited about seeing his team bust a long TD run for the first time in over a year, steps too far into the sideline, and gets blasted by a ref:

Got a flag thrown on him, too

I went with the home team. I have no idea if FSU's defense is any good, though.

Home team is why I'm going to pick FSU, too. The Defense is supposed to be stout, but that's what the "experts" said last year when it got torched for 35pts by Clemson.

Because of the baseline nervousness with any game, plus nervousness that comes from the fear of embarrassment from having to say, "Holy shit, we just lost to Kentucky."

Remember that guy that came in here and tattled on the mods about the week 1 thread title and then never showed up again? I wonder if he is still happy with himself.

As long as the officials don't have a repeat performance from last year when they refused to call repeated holds that bordered on sexual molestation, the defense will be fine.

Ah, who am I kidding. We're fucked.

How could I forget Nebraska? Yeah, they were pretty good I suppose.

Pretty good? Pretty good?!

tumblr_lledbilu591qk3zpoo1_500.gif

80's was Miami, 90's is Nebraska. 70's is Alabama, 60's is....I've heard Nebraska, but shit mayne, 1960's mayne.

This guy knows what he's talking about. Well, sorta. 80's is Miami and then ehh.. Penn State and Nebraska. 70's would be close between Oklahoma and Nebraska. 60's is Bama. Nebraska would be among the top for the 60's but they weren't all that consistent thoughout and didn't win a title in that decade.

I don't think I'd take Clemson to win, but I'd be pretty tempted to take the 14 points.

I think if we win it will be by 14+ points. If it is a close game, I would give the advantage to Clemson. Boyd and Watkins late is more reliable than our boys.

Edit: But I think the home field advantage makes it FSU's game to lose. I actually think we would have a shot at beating Clemson in Death Valley this year (for the first time in forever), and feel ok about the game this weekend. But who knows if Jimbo can actually get the guys ready to play a great team.

I don't think he talked about football in any of his posts. Just bitched at the thread title.

He felt blindsided by the misleading title. He came into the topic hoping to engage in intellectual discussion over steamy urine only to find us discussing College Football. That must have been so upsetting for him, so he did the only sensible thing by tattle tailing on us like a 5 year old.

70's is Bama, championships at the beginning and end of the decade, and the middle would have been too, if not for ND...

60's Bama slide in the latter half. Not alot, but enough. That 68-70 period, if rumours are to be believed, some were thinking that Bear's time had passed and he was slipping. Then the Wishbone happened.

When were the Gump years? Mid 60's? How many kick return TDs did he even end up with?

I think one could argue Ohio state for 70s as well. 4 national championships and 2 Heismans.

The Wishbone? Who in the world invented that? Anyone? Need some help here.
