Didn't play enough. 3 online games and about as many offline. I can't dissect it as it is currently because broadcast view on pro mode without the full HUD and playcalling ability is basically just NBA Street.
how long did it take 2k12 to go on steam last year? i dont remember amazon selling steam codes til a few months later too.
A question for the 2K vets, how do you go about evaluating players on your team in order to find out what they do best and how to best utilize them?
Offensively it seems like there are 3 factors
1) Shot Range rating ( 3pt, mid range, close, etc. )
2) Zone rating ( hot, cold, or neutral )
3) Shot type rating ( Hook shot, fade away, runner, etc. )
In theory I want to get the player into a position where the highest aggregate score is ( Shot Range rating + Zone Rating + Shot type rating ). Is this correct?
I am just trying to get a handle on offense. I am improving in that area, but it's still a major weakness in my game.
Steam Store page is showing it was released on Oct. 4th 2012 for what that is worth.
2k demos never let you change the camera. Its ridiculous. I didnt realize more than a small minority of serious 2k players even used the horizontal camera.
And really? Animations of nba live 08?
it varies based on your play style, tbh.
a player like ray allen or kevin martin might have a really high aggregate score in those categories, but either of those players could be ineffective depending on how you utilize them.
you're also failing to consider things like handle, speed, offensive awareness, passing, etc.
lots of players have tendencies that require some of the aforementioned skills to get them in the best position to score -- e.g. westbrook had a crazy high tendency rating in 2k12 to drive off a pick and roll (naturally, his speed and handle ratings were key to his success).
to your point, though, yes, playing to a player's attributes and tendencies will always be the best way to utilize them.

Has the question been answered about the Flop button actually being able to draw an offensive foul? Otherwise, whats the use of it?

Yep. You want to know where a guy hits his shots comfortably from and try to get them open in those spots. For example guys know John Wall sucks at shooting but he hit the top of the 3pt line shot at a decent clip his rookie year, so when I get him hot with some close range buckets I can pull off a hesitation move to back a player off of me and knock that shot down in the flow of a game.

Q: How will I know when a Signature Skill fires off?
A: If you press UP on the On the Fly Coaching menu on the d-pad, the Signature Skills HUD will appear. You can leave this up the entire game by never pressing UP on the d-pad again. The HUD sits in the upper left-hand corner in a single player game and in the both the upper left-hand and right-hand corners in a multi-player game (however, you only see yours in an online 2-player game). The HUD shows the name of the player you are actively controlling, the Signature Skills he possesses and his basic stat line. When a skill is not active it will be grayed out. When it is available it will be semi-transparent, basically letting you know you are in a situation where it could be used. When it has been activated it will light up in its full glory and the stat line will change to the name of the Signature Skill that just fired off.

I think I am just to dependent on screens and plays to get an open shot. I can't get to the rim with John Wall. I get cut off by the CPU. So since I can't drive successfully my game is all jumpers and post ups. I need to improve in that area.

Is the PC version going to be identical to the consoles? I read 2k12 was missing some effects and small stuff

Reading the 2ksports forum there was an comment from a mod that said the PC version will have some extra graphical settings in lieu of not having the all-star stuff. The console versions of 2k12 sometimes looked better than the PC version.

Shouldn't it have those settings, anyway?
Demo gameplay using commandsanyone played the demo or retail game with kinect?
curious to hear some feedback on how well the voice commands work...
For series veterans - I saw 2K12 (360) for £15 in a local game shop before, but decided against picking it up just yet. I've got pretty much zero experience of basketball games - should I buy 2K12 while it's cheap, or would 2K13 with the new control scheme be better for beginners? Any other reasons to wait for 2K13 apart from that it's a year more up to date?
I'm not sure if it's a simultaneous release, but the games are definitely released over here at some point. Thanks for the advice, I think I'll wait a few weeks then pick up 2K13 - knowing the UK games market it will be half price in about a month.Hmm. The game definitely plays a good bit better, from what I've played of 2K13. But if saving money is important, and you don't really mind playing a year old game, then go for it.
I'm not sure, is 2K a worldwide release, this Tuesday? I wouldn't know, but if money is no issue, you should jump into the series with 2K13.

Thanks, so from the demo, the new controls aren't any more beginner friendly than 2K12s? I should get chance to check out the demo tonight, and if the 2K12 one is still available I'll download that too to compare. If you are not a basketball fan, NBA2K12 has hundreds of hours to play, sweet controls and dozens of different modes.
I played 2k12 200+ hours, and for me it´s the sports game of the gen so far.Simply delicious.
Judging the demo,2K13 has some good additions, but definitely is not a revolution compared with 2k12. 2k12 is the best option imo.

I've been playing the retail version since Saturday, and the demo doesn't even scratch the surface on how good the game is. Not being limited to camera relative and putting the controls on absolute, makes learn RS dribbles and Shots that much more satisfying. Signature skills adds so much more to the game and too see players play to their strengths is rewarding.
The AI is aggressive and you quickly learn who is a good defender as oppose to who's a matador.
Problems: PS3
Replays are messed up in my player it replays the play prior to your highlight
Gametracker in 12min qt. only records 2qrts.
Collision Physics are a welcomed addition but it is problematic as well, sometimes the defensive player when attempting to block will get bumped out of the way in favor of the offensive player. coming off screens and regular movement with collisions physics it will bump your player off his path redirecting him which ruins the play.
Scoreboard sometimes disappears, and my subs don't enter the game on dead balls.
The presentation is in another world, the JayZ effect is just some random videos from his performances mixed in with 2k13 high lights of the upcoming game. I don't like the gold eq constantly pulsating it just looks bad too me.
But overall excellent game of basketball the animations and the post play interaction such as celebrating or emotional tirades to the ref are thing of beauty.
here's my psn you see nba2k13 in the trophies list

Thanks for impressions.
Can you try online play? That's what I am most interested in...

Early reports regarding online play for NBA 2K13 not encouraging. Going to be hard to justify MyTeam if online performance is still poor.
It is what it always is.
The game is out tomorrow, maybe the servers aren't fully up and running? Trying to remain optimistic about something that has never given reason to be.
