Resident Evil 6 - Review Thread | Activist Reviews and the Hate Patrol Destroy Truth™

Meta 79 for the PS3 and 69 for the 360? I've come to accept that PS3 scores tend to get inflated despite being the worse, but that is a bit much.

Wonder how bad a game has to be for game journalists to as an aggregate give a game a 69? Or was this case of Capcom sending such a small check that game journalists got offended?
 
I watched the totally rad show review and I find it interesting how they were saying that the gameplay is really bad when from playing the demo It seemed like an evolution of RE5 and I didn't have an issue with it, I know I haven't played it the full game yet but is it that big of a change?
 
I think it will still sell really well, even all those crap RE movies have made over $850 million worldwide and are still popular, people love Zombies more than ever.

EDIT: I want to see two people argue over this game on a podcast or something. Doubt I'll get it.
 
Everything about this game sounds so bad that I went from possible pre order to maybe buy on sale to gamefly to not touching with a 100 foot pole.

I have to say the break downs from certain fanboys makes it worth while anyways.

Pretty much. You're right in that its best to look at who is reviewing the game and not the site/mag as a whole.
 
Now that its been critically panned, I eagerly await the reboot. Go back to your roots and focus on the atmosphere and horror aspect. We really dont need this over the top multiplayer action.

If you like RE enough to consider a preorder then at least rent it.

I have a feeling that RE6 is going to be a case of "it wasn't THAT BAD" in the near future...

I still dont understand why you are talking to me but you are saying that what the people said in this thread about "racism" is so horrible no one should try to defend it? I am not defending it, they are wrong. I am saying I have seen the same kind of stuff in the opposite way with other games like MGS4, ME3, etc.

In no way do I think that people that don't like the game have an agenda. I am saying the whole reaction to reviews in general, for all games, is a mess on both sides. Frankly I have no clue why you are posting to me about it.

I bet you FFXIII gets the same treatment to some extent at some point. (P.S. I don't even love FFXIII or anything, I just dislike Final Fantasy more).

Resident Evil 5 certainly is.

Before getting our hopes up for a reboot, we should probably wait for the October NPDs to come out. Ultimately, that's what Capcom cares about.
 
Next up: Dead Space 3. At least RE got more than a few games in before going to hell.

FFXIII isn't as bad as some say it is and I agree with you that I think this is a case of it wasn't that bad in the future but I still have to play it and go from there.

I've never understood the hate for RE5. It isn't RE4 and there are lots of poor design decisions (the inventory management, shoot-the-orange-spot boss fights, turret sections etc.), but the game mechanics were solid and fun and the level design was good. Not great, but good. Yet people on the Internet NeoGAF say the game is literally a garbage.

Too many good games and to waste the slot in my que or waste the time playing it.

Literally every single thing I've read/seen has made it look worse to me.

I have given too many awful games a chance this gen and wasted time/money I gave up doing that awhile ago.

I'll only agree with you on the turret sections. The boss were hit and miss, but "weak points" isn't a bad mechanic by my judgment (makes the most sense in a game about precision shooting vs a giant target). The inventory system was kind of great.

NeoGAF is way too passionate and way too dogmatic at times. Certain posters are sort of ridiculous in the scope that they hate certain games, often poisoning the discussion by insulting the opposition (with the opposition spitting back). Leads to ugliness.

because the part in bold intentionally or not sounds like downplaying the ridiculous accusations of racism as if that's normal.

i do not remember such things being a common theme in any review thread. the reaction in this thread is a mess on another level. mentioning previous messes as if they are anyway equivalent just doesn't strike me as counter productive. the only people anyone needs to be trying to calm down are the crazy people who were slinging baseless accusations of racism.

EDGE and Eurogamer only, however if review scores fluctuate this much something must be up. I'll be waiting for GAF impressions.

Neither inspires confidence in me. I don't mind Eurogamer time to time (if you are forcing me to rank publications).

I didn't expect Polygon to be in that group after everyone made a big deal they were being sponsored.

Why are you acting like Edge and Eurogamer giving it 6/10 is the same thing as GiantBomb calling it "garbage" and Gamespot & Polygon giving it 4.25/10?

Edge also gave The Witcher 2 6/10 and they didn't hate that game either. But Giant Bomb, GS and Polygon think RE 6 is awful.

If you were genuinely excited about the game prior to seeing the critical reception, then go about your business and buy the game as planned. Someone else's opinion shouldn't take away from your excitement.
 
The RE6 defenders' uncritical and unreflected perception of the criticism displayed in this thread is making my head hurt. It's amazing how irrational people can be, although the comments might be interesting for an anthropological study on people's ability to wilfully neglect and deny reality.
