The Player 1 Podcast Topic

LBP Vita is fucking good. Like, really good. I hate Little Big Planet but since I'm stuck in a hotel tonight I figured what the hell. And yeah, awesome game.

I've played an amazing Portal level, two really well done Batman levels (with stories better than anything Nolan has done) and a neat little boxing multiplayer game. The god awful controls are way less annoying when you can play the game while watching something else. Your whole attention isn't focused on it with eases the frustration a bit.

Good call mik!

I played the demo and it made me extremely angry. The touchscreen just didn't seem to want to register my input, and the dumb thing wouldn't let me use the perfectly functional buttons to pick a level. Also, it's a shame that I can't use the Vita's wonderful dpad to control sackboy. They need to cut the story way back on these things, too.

Otherwise, it's exactly the same as the other three LBP games in the last four years, so, whatever, you know if you like that or not. It's like Sony's NSMB.

I couldn't disagree more. The platform change makes this a much, much better game. Like I said I hated the first two.

Why do they need to cut the story stuff back? What sense does that make? Those fuckers are giving me too much content!!

Have you tried the Arcade yet? I was amazed.

GOTY material. And LBP2 is a game that irritated me every time I tried to play it.

I've only unlocked that first pipes style game. How do you unlock more?

There are a lot of things in the game that I don't quite get. Like the near integration. What the hell, I totally forgot near existed.

This episode just made me feel really good. Tokyo Jungle and Neo Geo Pocket Color discussion brought me back to 1999, the mik minute (EA Sports, LittleBigPlanet) was fun, and the jokes!

Are any of you 4 fans of the Fire Pro Wrestling series, either in the Human or Spike eras? I think you're in good spots to analyze it without freaking out about the casual-ization and American-ization of it. I'm curious.

I was a bit of a fan back in the late 90s, mostly because a friend imported it all the time and I was into wrestling back then. Haven't really thought about that game for about 15 years now, though.

If you could play one PSN game, which one would it be?

I loved Mike's "do I like this game?" moment. Honestly, I think listening to Tokyo Jungle talk is enough for me. I have no plans to pick it up

"Little Big Planet does not want to be your pity fuck, Mister"

Mike is on fire this episode.

I swear to god, I clicked on this thread to post this exact same reply

.

And Mike, Since you've loved FIFA, do you think you will start paying more attention to Soccer? I mean as a real life sport and not just a video game thingy.

I'd like to second the request that Phil stop with the background music bullshit. It was funny the first 56 times but now it's getting a bit old and you wouldn't want to wear the joke out.

"I think a lot of our listeners should never have kids"

bahahaha

I really hope somebody brings up that FFVII aged sort of well because the whole premise of the game is about how things aren't as good as people remember them to be.

Okay, "aged well" may be strong, but it aged in the best way it could have, I think. Can't wait to listen!

I'm wondering why I ever stopped listening to this podcast. Completely forgot how good it was.

I am in the opposite boat. Found the ranting about Jeff Cannata to be really obnoxious and to be honest the sort of high and mighty attitude these guys have about anyone they perceive as taking it too seriously to be a turn off.

I gave up the podcast for a while and only really picked it up because I have enough time each week to listen to a bunch. I think I'm better off just not listening.

Those endless one line rants really do go on and on and on

Sorry, but taking what too seriously? My position on this is actually to take it more seriously. If you're under embargo then don't talk about that game. Especially don't tell me as a listener how interesting and awesome the secret game is but then cut off the discussion or description with "but I can't talk about it." It does your listener no favours. It comes off as bragging and elitist.

Would you say that is the way that they say it that bothers you, or just the fact that is mentioned?

For me is the way that is mentioned.

There's a huge difference (for me) between?

Person 1: What did you do over the weekend? or What did you play?

Person 2: Spend most of the weekend playing games under embargo.

Then they move on to what they can talk about. I'm ok with this.

I have a problem when they go to basically teasing the audience on how awesome whatever they are playing and how they can't talk about it.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel.
