But he's right.

But he's right.

How can someone saying RE4 is shit be right.

You can hate on it for being Survival "action" but the pacing set pieces and overall game design is on the opposite spectrum of "shit"

RE4's gameplay design is better than 80-90 percent of games this current generation

2>cvx>1>3>>>4>5

granted 4 and 5 are the only ones ive actually finihshed. hope we see classic survival and puzzlesolving RE come back someday.
i thought 4 was very overrated and 5 underrated. theyre nearly the same minus graphics. there already plenty of thirdperson shooters that do it a lot better.so why
stick to that route? (oh yeah, money)

Really? you never finished the others?

I can't agree with 4 being shit, but he's right in that if you like original-style, mainline RE, then 0 and CV and especially Remake are right up your alley. 4, while good in its own right, is the point where the series took a sharp turn. And here we are.

While I don't like CV and do love RE4, I agree that RE4 was the straws that broke the camels back. All of the RE's were getting more action orientated, RE4 is the one that taught players to run up on zombies it also popularized the whole qte cutscenes (even if they did already exist Dragon's Lair and Shenmue).

always get too freaked out. its the double edged sword of survival horror games. ive finished dino crisi though. loved it. now that i got re 1 2 3 from ps+ im looking forward to finish them. and on my way to finishing nemesis. due to its easy mode.
got really far in re1, but saved fucked up and lost motivation. and was saving cvx, but my ps2 died. will have to get off psn someday.

Wow. It's a damnation.

Said what you want, but RE4 it's a masterpiece in its 'gender'.
???

But that aside, RE4 is a masterful game but it was the beginning of the end of the franchise being about survival horror.

The village portion of the game was just incredible and frightening and true to the series roots even though it changed a lot of the mechanics of the previous games. Everything that happened after the village, although it was very entertaining, pretty much put RE permanently off the tracks and into becoming what we have now which is... I don't know what.

It's just really sad, RE was pretty much a unique and untouched kind of gaming experience. Many other developers tried to copy what the franchise did so well and failed. Why Capcom thought it was a good idea to morph the franchise into a QTE-event-filled-Michael-Bay-action-series instead of simply creating a new IP for that is just beyond me.

Most definitely. The proximity to zombies thing is super important. In 1-CVX getting close to a zombie is the furthest thing from your mind. Using your knife was always the ultimate last resort and super stressful. In 4, the melee action, while extremely enjoyable inside the game, totally destroys the tension of encounters. It's by far the biggest flaw of the game for me. But by 5 you just accept it as the norm in the game, and now in 6 you have qte galore - the obvious evolution from 4!

RE games arent really scary.closest is when you are going up that castle in CV.

gender, kind, genre, genus, type, sort; my apologies, anyway.

Resident Evil games have never been scary unless you are a physical or mental child or a peasant from the 13th century - in the latter case, you're probably more terrified of the magical box than the animated images of revenants upon it.

Wow. I don't remember how old I am at the time, but I remember to have jumped to the chair many times.

Omonimo might be my new favorite poster..so glad I came to this thread.

Wow, this thread is well on it's way to becoming the most mean spirited thread of all time
LOL!

You should check out the impressions of people who have played it in the OT. Paints a slightly different picture.

I've seen and read enough actually. The good and bad. Spending 60 bucks in today's day and age should get me a kick ass product. Been burned already this past year on a game that was supposed to be awesome from a top company and it failed.

If you haven't already, you can get another Capcom game in its place, Dragon's Dogma!

It's pretty good.

Rent it. But I continue to think the demo gives the right idea about it.

In terms of "I feel like playing an RE game..." I'll take RE0 over RE4 any day.

How about in terms of playing a game that is a lot better.

holy shit there is so much wrong in here.first of all RE4 is shit and completely overrated.also it marked the start of RE's downfall.RE0 is great and felt like RE with the same controls. Code veronica is incredible and was the last good RE.

Wait, what exactly is going on in this thread?
