All MS has to do is to release a mail client on par with/better than Apple Mail on OS X to pull me back. It's the biggest reason that I use Apple as no e-mail client for windows even comes close.

Will there even be any tablets with AMD chips at launch?

The Metro mail client is really bad. I'd say worse than the iPad mail client. Windows Mail 2012 for the desktop is okay, I guess. What features are you looking for?

Even if it were great, a proper e-mail client will have to have the functionality to display multiple e-mails in multiple Windows. I want a desktop mail client not a tablet one. Outlook is horrendous. MS needs to have a DESKTOP e-mail client that can properly deal with IMAP mailboxes as well as exchange. They can add a metro view to that if they wish, like IE.

It needs to be good and fast for both IMAP and Exchange accounts. Outlook is shit for IMAP (and other issues with performance), and Thunderbird is shit for Exchange.

It's hard for me to get excited by stuff like this since it'll probably be US-only, like most everything Microsoft does these days.

Seeing as we already have the Zune Pass in Canada I see no reason why the free streaming shouldn't be available. I guess we will find out.

MS treats non US residents like shit.
ANyways got to play with windows 8 tablet and holy cow is that thing butter smooth and everything makes sense. For the first time it actually feels like a computer on a tablet. Loved it!

Eh, I get a monthly rate of 7.99 with Rdio. They've got to offer a compelling reason to swich.

I know this has probably been asked a million times but if I install the release preview can I upgrade to the retail version when it's released by just putting in the serial number? I don't have to re install it do I?

You have to reinstall.

I installed it, how do I run the Metro version?

I just closed my desktop version and started it from the Start screen, it opened up the Metro version. Doesn't seem to work right though, I went to Neogaf and the mouse wheel didn't scroll the page. Maybe it needs to use touch?

The mouse wheel doesn't work in this version. Only touch and keyboard for scrolling.

Sweet!

Edit: My work email is unfortunately IMAP so that addition is nice.

Does the e-mail app have a desktop view where you can view multiple e-mails in multiple windows or is it metro only? I have left my win8 test laptop at work.
If so, it might be the first mail client outside of Apple mail that'd work for me on the desktop.

these guys might want to rethink their logo. on first glance it looked like it read like something else.

I was telling you guys from the very beginning that the apps had barely had any development time by the time the beta came out. They were basically 1-2 milestones behind the OS, especially considering the app platform itself was still changing pretty significantly until RC. It was obvious they didn't just suck, but were woefully incomplete and wouldn't be decently-featured until RTM
