Origin $20 off coupon [Expired - EA states they're honoring games]

Don't bother. I must've tried dozens of times but they're retarded. Luckily I was able to get Mirror's Edge and its DLC on Origin for free thanks to this deal.

if you bother the chat rep enough and keep asking to get bumped up to a level 2 rep, you might get something done.

For some reason, I was only getting 700 kb/s - 1.2 MB/s when downloading last night. However, if I put multiple games to download, I would get that same speed for all of them simultaneously. I ended up with 3-3.5 MB/s total while downloading. I wonder why it did that.

Origin is abhorrant at downloading. I started to DL Hot Pursuit really early today and I turn off my monitor as usual. 10 hours later, it was at 10 motherfucking percent. It briefly lost internet connection. I was able to download The Saboteur in 2 sessions but that took half a day even at 1MB/s (the most I can get from the long router distance). Now how am I supposed to play my free game?

Pack it up, we all going to jailz

Wow, this guy is snitching big time. Now EA has no choice but to make examples of people. If my account get's banned I am going to be angry beyond belief. 2 of my Mass Effect games are on Origin and I plan on doing another complete play through at some point in the coming years.

Yeah, I started downloading DA:O, saw that the fucker was like 15Gigs and downloading at crawling speeds. yeesh.

I'm getting 5.2mb/s downloading Dragon Age Origins right now.

They might have certain games on different servers or certain bandwidth allocations per game. I started DLing about 6 games and Origins is the only one at 2mb/s and climbing while all the others are 400mb/s or lower.

edit: damn, DA:O at 8mb/s.

WTF is with this Bad Company 2? Launch the game finally after updating it for 3 hours and the thing doesn't let me go online until I enter my "EA Account" settings, which for some reason isn't the same as my origin account, then it wants me to input a serial number for Vietnam but doesn't allow copy/pasting. Turrible.

Why can't you add a promo code to Mass Effect 3? And with that said, how come the code doesn't work anymore? I legitimately did that survey and got the same code. It says this in the fine print though:

OFFER EXPIRES OCTOBER 21, 2012. DISCOUNT CODE EXPIRES OCTOBER 21, 2012. GOOD ONLY FOR NEW PURCHASES OF $19.99 OR MORE FROM THE ORIGIN STORE AT WWW.ORIGIN.COM AND THE ORIGIN CLIENT SOFTWARE

Lame.

What a stupid article. Comparing taking advantage of a broken coupon with paying for Humble Bundle?

I don't even see what would make this guy want to write that. In both cases people are jumping on good deals, in one case it just happens to be a deal where things are free.

He needed a starting point to write on Indie games, he used this unrelated one.

It's like he's saying that people would never exploit indie bundles. Did he forget how sleazebags used to buy up Humble Indie Bundles for 1c so they could do Steam trades. It's why you have to pay $1 minimum in many indie bundles now to get a Steam key.

Lame.

EA might have just taken it down until they fixed all of the loopholes.

I bet if origin did a pay what you want bundle it would have been hugely successful too. He's over-thinking the people hate ea angle.

edit: Steam sometimes has pricing errors people that people take advantage of, and a lot of people buy steam keys from places like greenmangaming to get games way cheaper at launch. I guess that means people hate steam too.

That Forbes guy is pretty dense.

I wonder how long it would take for people to break it if they ever do put it back up.

They did something similar. They said pay 19.99$ for these games or 0.00$. Guess what most people selected.

19.99$ is a lot of money for a game that you thought you would never play in your life.

edit: Think about if they let you bundle 5 of those games together for 5-10$. I'm sure people would have payed.

So far Spore Creature Creator and My Sims won't install. I'm also downloading Littliest Pet Shop for my daughter, but don't have much hope of it working either.

The saddest part is that I was guilt tripped into buying a game to counterbalance these freebies that don't appear to be playable.

Crap! Now all my Origin games say Install or Download! Why can't I play anything now!!! WTH EA!

Is this your first time using Origin?

Nope. I have all The Sims 3* stuff (including pre-order for Seasons) on there for my wife. (Though this is my first time outside of that.) She also has a lot of extra stuff from The Sims 3 website.

*When it came available on Steam I considered converting, but found out I would have to purchase everything again and decided against such a huge sum.

Edit: I'm going to see if she can load The Sims 3 now. If not EA is getting one helluva complaint.

Were they all installed already?

Yes. My wife plays on this or the other PC depending on which one I or our daugher is on. The PCs are identical outside of a few software differences.

We tried playing the latest Sims 3 Supernatural and got this error:

"Unable to start. Please reintall the base game."

ARGH! The base game is on a CD somewhere, but everything after that was downloaded from EA.

Well played, EA. Allow us to download your games thinking we're getting them for free and then hit us up for the activation code when it comes time to actually play them. And to think we thought we were playing them all along. EA got game and gamed us all.

So I just finished downloading and installing Dead Space, but when I try to play I get a pop up saying "Cannot write license data. Please contact customer support for further instructions" Anyone else encounter this issue?

He's... not accustomed to using Origin it seems. I've installed and played several games already.

I couldn't launch Mass Effect from Origin after downloading it. Was able to launch it from the launcher instead. Is this the case with all Origin games? Its not a deal breaker, but double clicking on the game doesn't start it lol.

Mirror's Edge runs without Origin for me

For some reason Origin refuses to launch any of the games I have installed. I just have to run them from the start menu. Anybody else have this problem?

Was able to get Burnout Paradise for free yesterday. Glad I waited for the best possible deal. In all seriousness, what the fuck is my problem? This game is AMAZING. Definitely getting NFS at full retail to make up.
