Sleeping Dogs |OT| not releasing this would have been a True Crime

Yeah.. no.

Um, yeah? In sleeping Dogs turning and moving in different directions feels like you're steering Wei, pushing forward on a stick to get him to jog you'll feel a delay and the motions feel really weighty and not flexible or light. Are you saying that there wasn't weight with movement or did you not notice this?

Nowhere near as clunky as IV.

I didn't say it felt exactly like IV, it has a similar feeling to it. Sprinting in Sleeping Dogs was very bad compared to sprinting in IV though, Wei moves like a shopping cart when he sprints.

Sleeping Dogs -- currently my co-GOTY with Kid Icarus Uprising. I'm also loving the hell out of RE6, and I suspect Dishonored and XCOM will be fantastic when I get around to them. Oh, and Revelations was great. 2012 has been a good year for gamers!

It's already LTTP? wat.
I was thinking the same. It's still sold at full price, if I'm not mistaken.

Not that it has anything to do with the release date, as Nintendo games usually don't get cheaper, but on the other consoles, and specially PC, prices go down really fast.

LTTP?

I can't believe this. The game just launched, so why you Don't post your impressions at the game OT?

I had notice some unnecesary or just plain stupid use of the LTTP threads lately, but this is too much.

Best surprise of the year for me. The previews and trailers didn't seem all that great, but the demo sold me on it. Incredible game from start to finish. Can't wait for the DLC.

Really not a problem, dude. Mods will roll it into the OT if it's deemed necessary.

Finished it a couple days ago. One of my favorite open world games. Want to try and 100% it eventually. definitely going to give a second playthrough. really fun game and i enjoy the story and characters very much.

GTA V is going to have to do a lot to top Sleeping Dogs for me. I just picked it up last week and haven't been able to put it down. This game is excellent.

Great game, finished it recently, but can't get it out of my head. Despite some flaws and dull side missions, the game had a great vibe and HK is an awesome environment to play a game

You're mad over someone that made a thread like this? There isn't a rule of thread making, if someone wants to have a discussion, let them have a discussion.

Me too.

I think GAF should limit this. 1 year seems ok for LTTP. Not everyone gets the game at launch, so even after 6 months of release isn't "LTTP" yet.

1 year is my say.

EDIT: And come on, every GAFer knows about the OT's. Just look them up. To use 'LTTP' on the title you are very aware of the existence of the official thread.

Oh, my bad everyone. I asked a mod to move my post into the OT.

I didn't see any rules in regards to LTTP threads, but I thought two months after release would be alright.

I'm glad you brought up the Nolan North comparison, because there were many times throughout the game where I saw an uncanny resemblance to Nathan Drake.

Bonobo's Kiara was my, Jam of the Game.

Not quite GotY for me, but damned close. It will probably take my very competitive Suprise of the Year award. Whatever the studio does next has my attention.

Said this in the OT, but the amount of detail is amazing. Just got 100%, and I'm still seeing new things in the city. Stuff like ambulance crews trying to revive civilians, shitloads of different NPC actions in places like clubs and such (like one fat guy with a group of girls singing karaoke). I hope GTA V is as good as this in that regard.

Also, I only just found out that you can run up a wall and do a rebound kick. Oh, and finding out about 20 hours in that you can throw melee weapons, and roll when landing from a large jump made me facepalm.

I got to agree here.

Also, I thought LTTP were for those like halfway-finished with a game. Seems weird when LTTP threads are made where people just barely started it.

Nope, forever tarnished poster. I might start using my ignore list, just for you. :D

It's cool to be all excited about playing a new game, but as you say, go post in the OT. If nothing else, it means that when a genuine LTTP comes round, it gets met with derision because it's been done recently.

Edit: good to see you back Dennis. I know you've been back a while, but hey.

I enjoyed the game, but I don't understand people saying it looks stunning. I played it maxed out on PC and thought it looked lacklustre at best.

When you move the camera to the right place it can look pretty amazing. e.g Get the camera close up to the character at night time when it's raining and make the camera look up at the city lights, buildings and all that detail while he walks. Looks pretty.

Racing pack and cop outfit pack DLC are up on Steam. Former is $3.99, latter $1.99. I thought the cop thing would add in some busts but apparently it's just an overpowered suit and machine gun. Races seem neat but eh. Three races for four bucks? I love this game, but I think I'll wait. Prices are small, but I don't really think they are relative to the content you get. I would like more content but grabbing lots of DLC adds up, and suddenly you realise you've spent way more money than the content is probably worth. I've been down that road too many times with the Mass Effect series.

Very, very keen for the zombie DLC. Might grab the racing one around then so I have more content to play in bulk.

Bummer, thought we would get more busts or even cop missions...

Anyone got a 100% save they could upload? I 100d the PS3 version, but I recently got rid of my consoles, and I've got the game on Steam. I plan to do all the DLC, but I really don't want to do all the side racing stuff over again.

Some people earlier on called that. Maybe hand to hand combat with zombies..interesting.
Just so you know, it’s not actually zombies in the Nightmare in North Point DLC pack for Sleeping Dogs – it’s Jiang-Shi and Yaoguai; two traditional Chinese demons/monsters of folklore that bear only a surface-level similarity to the vampires and zombies found in Western mythology.

In the same way that Sleeping Dogs main story was a love-letter to Hong Kong action cinema, so Nightmare in North Point is a homage to Hong Kong horror movies like the 'Mr. Vampire' film series. We were very conscious of the fact that Hong Kong had this kind of side-story to tell and we're aiming to present it in such a way as that it remains representative of the culture Sleeping Dogs portrays, rather than bring in a whole ton of ill-fitting Western influences.

We'll have more details on Nightmare in North Point tomorrow.

ALSO, we're currently running a poll on the Sleeping Dogs Facebook page where we're asking the community to choose the contents of an upcoming premium DLC pack, which we'll then go ahead and create before making it available to purchase. Just to make sure this exercise runs nice and smoothly, we’re giving you two choices – one based in reality, the other belonging more to the realms of fantasy. This way we make the content you'd prefer to own.

You can find the poll on Facebook here and you can find details on the options over the game's official community site here: YOU CHOOSE IT, WE CREATE IT.

Please, get involved.

Why do all the brake lights look like stickers in this game? There's no depth to them, no glass etc. My only issue with the game, lol.
