Was surprised they are refreshing the new iPad. Oh well, my sister is still happy with the one I bought her this year.

I'm happy though because this new iPad will be sold in Sprint now. Unlimited data on a tablet. (:

Apple is very fortunate that the Android tablet app ecosystem is still utter shit. It has barely even improved since I bought my Xoom 1.5 years ago

Biggest disappointment of the year...still will outsell google for no fucking reason but favoritism and branding. The state of tech is shit.
...and 275,000 applications, OS stability, 10 hours of battery life, and the most developed music and movie platform in the business.

Oh, and what is sure to be the most robust selection of 3rd party equipment, cases and sound docks.

So, maybe a few more reasons than "favoritism and branding". But who knows, right?

I agree, but I was really thinking they would go $200 or $250 to just fuck over their competition.
I think they will sell boatloads of 329 ipad mini. The mass with buy this over the nexus. It has way better consumer mindshare. Tech geeks will of course be disappointed by the spec and pricing.

I feel bad for those that bought an iPad 3 recently. This is why I never buy electronics months after announcement. You either buy it when it's fresh or wait for the next.

Honestly, people who have the iPad 3 should feel fine. It's not like it's any worse of a device today just because they moved up the release of the fourth-gen. It was a good device yesterday, and it's just as good today. There's now just something better.

I love my apple products, but seriously? Fuck them. I understand having an "obsolete product" in 1 year's time, but 6 months? Assholes.

iPad 3 lags on certain apps. It's a good device, but it's not optimal.

UK prices

Nexus 7 32GB in the UK is £199.

£150 more for the iPad Mini 32GB is a bit outrageous tbh.

I don't understand this Apple sheep mentality. Why do you all keep buying these overpriced devices? Is it really that hard to get a date while chilling in Starbucks?

you guys got it all wrong. you thought the "little more to show you" was a wry play on words.

they were just trying to set realistic expectations.

i expect next hype poster to read: "we're just gonna do some conservative refreshes with premium price tags, keep your hopes in check. steve's dead guys."

Bought an iPad 3 in May or June or sth, but the new one doesn't bother me as it's not a big upgrade in my eyes.
Now if they had announced a new MacBook Air with retina display, I would have been pissed (as I just bought the "new" one a month ago). I was kinda nervous but PHEW...

Should I just wait for the new iPhone 6 then in December? Since they are so good at pushing new products now?

Was there any rumors regarding a new iPad this close? I swear all the rumors I read were for iPad mini so this came out of nowhere.

Glad I watched that. Now I know exactly what I'm doing.

Ordering 13" MacBook Air today. No way in hell am I paying $1700 for a notebook with integrated graphics. iPad will have to fulfill me retina cravings.

The 3rd gen iPad that I bought this past weekend is going back to the store thanks to the 14-day return policy. Pre-ordering 4th gen on Friday.

Battery life? Isn't the Nexus the same? OS stability? Stock Android is rock solid. Applications and build quality arguments are justified though.

app store and bigger screen and better build quality is no reason?

Some of you, christ. And I own a nex7 but it aint hard to see the differences.

the screen is a matter of 16:10 vs 4:3 preference and the nexus is quite a bit sharper. 4:3 might be better for portrait browsing but 16:10 is muuuuch better for video.

80 bucks for supposed better build quality and the app store? if you say so.

Not sure if you're serious.

Android Tablet apps vs. iOS Tablet apps... iPads have insanely higher quality software than Android tablets do. It's the same reason why people argued for Windows PCs vs. Macs back in the day.

You can just do so much more with an iPad...nevermind the higher quality hardware and screens.

Apple devices have a better selection of apps but it seems they're restricted by Apple's GUI design policies which means - in terms of productivity - Android apps potentially offer a better experience. From my own experience that is certainly true of Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 vs the iPad.

So did Apple ever clarify their statement that the iPad Mini was not just a shrunken down iPad?

I think Jony said it's a "concentrated" iPad, which is... different? That said, a shrunken iPad is all it needed to be. It looks great. They just shouldn't have said that.

I just wonder whether they fucked themselves with 3rd gen iPad sales this holiday, considering th 4th gen announcement.

Or... they probably did it on purpose to give all the attention to the mini. Smart to not compete with yourself, but still a little iffy.

Surprised by new iPad, though I bought at launch so nearly 8 months is not as big a deal. Spec bump doesn't seem too major.

No interest in the mini I don't think. Price should have been lower.

Having bought a N7 at launch, I was still pretty surprised by how horrible it is. It's even missing some mainstream stuff like a CNN app.
