22 reviews, 91/100 guys, that was close. pew.
There's a lot that this entry brings that makes the overall Halo Campaign fresh, exciting, and new. If you strictly want different gameplay, find a different series. If I wanted something that played like the older games, I'd play the older games.
New company, new trilogy, and yet more of the same old same old?
Sorry, but that's just plain boring. Take the gameplay in a new, fresh direction; don't just regurgitate the same shit we've been getting for the past 12 years in a prettier package and call it a day.
Name names. Quote posts. Who is doing this?
I'm a pretty darn happy guy tonight. Can't wait till everyone gets the chance to play on November 6th.

Sick? Ear-Gasmic? Killer?
Who the hell uses these terms.
Regardless, good scores.
Doritos?
ign review said:It starts with a mesmerizing CG cutscene that flat-out knocks you on your ass. The lighting is flawless, subtle movements and animations abound, and it even goes so far that Commander Lasky (yes, the same Lasky we see as a teenager in the Forward Unto Dawn webseries) has crooked teeth not the usual polygon-perfect Chiclet choppers that every other animated video game human has. It strikes a fine balance between old-school fan service and establishing context for new players, and it quickly segues into gameplay, where Halo 4s greatest strength becomes immediately apparent: its gunplay.
Nice job only quoting the first sentence and not responding to anything else.As did you.

Drive-by posts are the worst. "Oh shit, I have nothing to say so I'll come back with some snarky remark."
Shoho is that you

Only the first sentence of that paragraph is about the CG scene. The rest is all about real time cutscenes and animations.Seriously though, is it a common thing for reviews to go that much into detail over the cg cutscenes in a game?
Could you point me to which elements sound worrying? Everything I'm reading sounds great. As someone that only enjoys the co-op portion of multiplayer, I'm not pleased with what reviewers are saying about the Firefight replacement - Spartan Ops.
Holy shit he actually thinks its the best Halo so far? String him up. String up the Penny Arcade guys too then, right?
One point off my 92 prediction.http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/halo-4/critic-reviews

The single player campaign is 9-16 hours long and the difficulty has been upped. Supposedly the story is more emotional than past Halo games and the sound is amazing.Don't really have enough time to read all these reviews, but is there a general conciseness about whether the single-player campaign being better than the previous numbered titles or not? I really didn't gel with Halo 3's 1-player mode and as a result never really got into the multiplayer scene, for a frame of reference.
Any word from the reviews on framerate? One of the biggest issues with Reach multiplayer should at least be addressed I'd think? I see GB says it's good but I figured someone would have really put that to the test.
Did they lose their bonus if Metacritic was below 90?

Also remember, they've only played the first episode, there are 9 more to go.
10 on Machinima, Joystiq, Kotaku, and Destructoid
9.8 on IGN
9.5 on Official Xbox Magazine and Polygon
9.3 on Game Informer
9.0 on Gamespot , G4 TV, and 1UP
8.0 on Eurogamer and Giant Bomb
This ign guy...
Spend a whole paragraph jizzing over the intro cg cutscene.

Impressions from some GAFfers who have played the game say that it runs at a rock solid 30 fps with no slowdown.

The presentation end of Halo 4 is quite nice. The music is outstanding, breaking away from the franchise's past a bit by updating the sound and getting away from some of the overt monk chanting that one still tends to associate with Halo. It helps make Halo 4 sound like its own thing, and that goes a long way. Visually, Halo 4 has some terrific moments that really stand out, but it also holds up well on the technical end with a good frame rate, great lighting, and, for the most part, sharp texture quality. Again, these things help to make Halo 4 look and feel different from its predecessors, probably more than the gameplay does.
Only time I've seen the framerate take a nosedive -- ever -- was once during a repeat playthrough of chapter 5 of Spartan Ops in four-player on Legendary difficulty. And that was just the one time.

The Eurogamer review seems to want to whine about something simply for the sake of it.
Focused a lot on having 'no one to save'.
Did we have anyone to save in 1,2 or 3? We had 'mindless marines' back then too.
He only seems to find a negative in the story aspect of the game, the one area where other reviews heap praise on.
Seems like he was looking for something to bump the score down on.
