Wii U in 2013: What is there to look forward to?

No way are they waiting until E3 to reveal more titles. That'd be two months with absolutely nothing announced on the horizon. We'll hear something of big 2013 titles well before then.

Aside from what's been posted, Nintendo probably won't say anything until around e3 next year. Announcements of 3rd party games would probably come from the developers themselves. That said, I have a pretty good feeling about the future lineup of the system.

Given the fact that Miyamoto recently expressed polite surprise at the idea that people wanted more F-Zero, I doubt that.

I'm certain we'll see Mario Kart in 2013, though.

Hmm, it's hard to tell the way Nintendo works. They could have started the F-Zero game awhile back already.

I wonder if they will want to launch F-Zero or Mario Kart first... Probably better to go with Mario Kart first and then bring in the more intense F-Zero later on.

Must-have titles for me are The Wonderful 101 and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. I will also get Pikmin and might consider Rayman and Ninja Gaiden Razors Edge (EU release).
Okay enough, but if they don't have some game blowout at next E3 (specifically when it comes to big budget games from internal Nintendo studios) that should have already happened this time, then it's probably safe to assume that this console will end up average at best.

Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3. Not banking on 2013 for Bayonetta 2 until Nintendo say it. Though end-of-year would be lovely!

Otherwise, nothing else, because the line-up is filled with ports and multiplatform games I'll be getting on PC. Need some exclusives, please.

Now that I think about it, there's always a 3 year span between each Mario Kart game. Considering Mario Kart 7 came out a year ago, I wouldn't expect the next one till 2014 at the earliest. Besides, MK7 didn't do so good compared to Wii and DS numbers so I don't see the rush for a new one

As others have said, Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, and Pikmin 3. Those should handle Q1. I haven't heard about any must haves for Q2 but I could see around two huge Nintendo titles (3d Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc. ectc.) and some great third party offerings being released in Q3-Q4 in order to compete with the 720/ps4.

Personally, I am getting The Wonderful 101 and Pikimin 3 on day one.

I really can't wait for Rayman Legends. I loved what little I've played of it. I'm really surprised it isn't making launch.

Me too... Rayman Legends plays amazingly. Although I will always support a delay to make something even better, I suspect the game is pretty much done...

I think Nintendo might be working with Ubi to deliberately market and space out their releases -- to be honest, launches can be a bloodbath where some titles get lost, and for good third party support that's not something Nintendo can afford - so I understand it

I hope they put a demo on the eShop

nailed.

Right now, for 2013, there are

Pikmin 3
Wii Fit U
The Wonderful 101
Lego City Undercover
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Rayman Legends
Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2

And this is just Q1; probably Need for Speed: Most Wanted, The Amazing Spiderman will be in there too ( I'd say alongside Splinter Cell, given the various leaks). Just retail, Q1 seems packed, actually. But there's no news for Q2 right now.

Nintendo can be so bizarre sometimes. On the one hand, you have something like this, where Miyamoto's saying there's nothing left to do with the franchise. Then on the other hand, you have NSMB, NSMBW, NSMB2, and NSMBU. And a Mario Kart every generation. And Galaxy 2, an expansion pack sequel in the same generation. And they've released the same Animal Crossing every gen since what, 64? And 9 Mario Parties plus a Wii Party?

I don't begrudge Nintendo for any of those releases, either. But where's the sudden artistic need for something new to do with the F-Zero franchise come from? Make F-Zero, make it 720p or 1080p at 60fps, make it 16 player online, and keep the same challenge from GX. That's enough.

The fact that this is the first time that Nintendo didn't blow their load showing a ton of games they have in development like they did with the 3DS makes me think they want the current ones to be more into the spotlight. Next year's announcements will be really interesting.

Monolith's game!!

I thought Bayonetta 2 had a general release date but I guess not. In that case, I totally agree. I wouldn't be surprised to see it released later in the year to help with 360/ps4. For exclusives, we might get a couple of third party exclusives for Q2 but I doubt we will see exclusives from Nintendo until Q3-Q4.

Those two Platinum Games.

I forgot what they were called though.

Dantenetta 2 and Wonderful Sentai Viewtifulger?

Many big stuffs already like Mon Hun , Pikmin , Bayonetta , Dragon Quest X , Smash Bros , Wonderful 101 , Rayman Legends , a bunch of Mario theme games.

Pretty sure Bayonetta 2 has no date. Will depend on how much of the game was finished before SEGA cancelled it. Best case scenario, the design document was down and prototyping/production was in its early stages. Then I could see them getting it out for the end of 2013.

Worst case scenario, only early prototyping was done for Bayonetta 2, and with Nintendo they're essentially starting from scratch. In that case 2013 seems a bit too early for me.

Yes and they will. 16 Player online and awesome features will all be there. Probably something really cool involving the Game Pad. But we can also look to the Nintendo Land game Captain Falcon's Twister Race for clues. Honestly if what Miyamoto is talking about is stuff like crazy obstacles on the courses and other ways the game tries to mess you up and way more stuff to interact with, then I'm all for these additions. Also build off the modes from the N64DD expansion, allowing for track creation and bring back the custom ship building Sega did well in F-Zero GX. I have a feeling its going to be a great game with the pure F-Zero we all want as well as new and exciting directions for the series added.

im thinkin a wii sports will be announced but it will be downloadable. You'll be able to buy each individual sport for 5 bucks on the shop. With the full version at retail.
This won't happen

Nintendo wont announce any big-ish titles until all the ones already known about are released('cept bayo2). Might be some unexpected delays though.

Is March is the end of the launch window?

I'm looking forward to one of my favourite franchises being inevitably moved onto Wii U, and my subsequent rage following it.

Persona 5? Zero Escape? DOA? Yakuza? Heck, maybe it'll be something crazy like The Witcher.

All I know is that it's bound to happen.

Monolith's game!!

I reckon back in the day Nintendo showed off that huge list - some of those like Ninja gaiden we have never heard anymore since - as they had show their muscles to counter PSVita's launch, but this time around with Wii U they're in no hurry and can play their cards in due time.

I'm really looking forward to Monster Hunter 3, Bayonetta 2, and Pikmin 3.

I'm actually expecting the first half of 2013 to be kind of light on Nintendo published games on Wii U. They do have Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Animal Crossing coming to 3DS, and they like to give each one of their games some room to sell. They pretty much have 4 months covered with those 3DS games and Pikmin 3.

I'm sure we'll hear about more games for both 3DS and Wii U around the end of March, like we always do.

Isn't it selling better than the DS version, at least so far? It might not end up above it by the end of the gen though.

Most of it will probably be revealed at E3 to counter PS4/Nextbox.

If the Wii U pad works upstairs in my bedroom, then Aliens: Colonial Marines is not the only multiplatform game I'm going to choose Wii U over PC for, presuming most multiplatform titles are going to support off screen play.

Bayonetta 2
Pikmin 3
The Wonderful 101
LEGO City
Rayman Legends

Probably more announced during the first half of the year or E3. And whatever EAD Tokyo launches.

I'm sure Ubi doesn't really want to go up against a 2D Mario platformer during launch, either.

Played the Legends demo at Best Buy the other day and loved it, though, so whenever they do get around to releasing it I'll be there.

A lot of the announced games will be in early 2013, for example:

Rayman
Wonderful 101
Pikmin
Monster Hunter 3G
Hokuto Mosou 2
Aliens Colonial Marines
Lego City

There will probably be some rumored titles too (as Splinter Cell) plus some late multiplatform game (such as Need for Speed)

After the launch window up to now we know only about Bayonetta 2, Dragon quest X (in Japan is Spring) and Smash Bros 4

They'll probably announce more games during Directs and obviously at E3 (among them, I firmly believe there will be the new Monolith project)

Just to join in the chorus, I hope to be playing:

Wonderful 101
Pikmin 3
Bayo 2
Monster Hunter
DQX
Rayman (maybe)

And these are just from the games announced so far. There's a lot more to come I'm sure.

Wait GAF told me that the WiiU would be dead in 2013 when the other consoles would eventually come out.

I'm just buying it to enjoy these short 6 months of it's lifespan.

Bayo 2
Monster Hunter
DQX

Although Bayo 2 is still at least a full year away, that is one awesome lineup of first and third party exclusives.

I wish they would announce a new trauma center game for the Wii U. I think this game would be perfect for the platform more than the Wii ever was.

This right here. It would be amazing.

Looking forward to The Wonderful 101 (freaking love that name)

100% certain for 2013:

Rayman Legends
The Wonderful 101
Pikmin 3
Beyond Good and Evil 2

Those 4 exclusives are already bigger than anything on Vita in the same time frame.

It's why I cancelled my pre-order, only interested in NSMBU till Monster Hunter drops. That being said if I can find a standard Wii U at launch I'll grab NSMBU and some Wii titles and play that until a title I am interested in releases.
