Wii U back in stock at GameStop

Yeah, that works during a party. "Hey, lemme plug the main controller we're all using into the wall. Try not to trip over it or pull it out of the plug." Party!

I really would like to see the setup of your living room that there's no convenient location for someone with the Game Pad to plug it in while using it after a 3 hour stint anyway. I'd love a better battery for sure but you're acting like it's some kind of major factor.

Pretty much. And the person with the GamePad should usually be away from the other people so they aren't scope'n the GamePad's screen during the chase games. That's cheating. lol I actually jumped off the couch when the GamePad was passed to me and sat on the floor facing them. I don't care I'm weird. =D

Deluxe set is already sold out.

yep, deluxe sold out

It's out of stock on the Canadian version of the website but when I check their store locator tool it seems available everywhere in every location possible in a 100km radius within where I live.

I'm surprised that all of their Montréal locations have it in stock to be honest. That wasn't the case for the Wii at all.

I will agree with the other guy and say that people are not aware it is available in store yet. I doubt the performance issue will be a deal breaker here as the Wii was in a similar situation. Unlike the Wii which had a buzz everywhere on TV and newspapers, the Wii U doesn't have much presence in media around here.

I did see ads on TV for Scribblenauts Unlimited, Batman Arkham City and NSMB Wii U but on a specialized TV channel only.

So Nintendo is making good on their word to ship a ton of these this holiday. That is good to know. There were more in the stores in my area that were sold out on launch day. Most of those stores are sold out again.

My local target had 4 of them just sitting there. I live in a major city.. was surprised to see them. Could not pull the trigger.. waiting a few months but good to see supply wont be an issue.

edit: All of them the 299.00 version.

I work at GameStop. I had to call all of our waiting list customers to see if they wanted to get the Wii Us we had left over after preorders, which some people never picked up also. Almost all of them either said they couldn't buy it or didn't want to buy it anymore.

First of all, the Wii U pad is a way more attractive option to pick up. I have it right next to my couch and I just grab it, sit down, turn on the tv, the console, and my cable box with the pad, and launch a game - I have Zombi U (loving it - 8/10 so far), Mario (best in the "New" series by far - 9/10 so far), Nintendo Land (i'll get to this, as it demonstrates why I am having a blast with it), Trine 2 (play this in bed at night), and Nano Assault Neo (addictive as hell, check it out everyone!).

Second, going between games, Miiverse, the amazingly fast internet browser (for a console), Netflix, and TV with one pad is so addicting, I'm hooked. I hardly ever put the pad down, which is odd, but it's already dominating my entertainment life. I don't need to be using the TV for certain things, so when my roommates want to play Halo 4, I simply play Mario, Trine 2, Nano Assault Neo, watch Netflix, browse the internet, or go on MiiVerse instead. The versatility of it is sucking me in more than anything.

Third, the asynchronous gameplay is absolutely brilliant. My brother came over to visit and we played Metroid Blast for hours. I was in Samus' ship, walking around the room while aiming by turning (works way better than the 3DS for some reason). This means that if I need to aim down, I'm looking at the floor. If I need to aim to the left, I turn to the left. My brother, on the other hand, has the entire main screen to himself. We're both having fun, but in completely separate realms doing completely different things. I honestly cannot wait for more ideas like this to come out. It's fun as shit and I wish Nintendo Land was a more complete game rather than a set of (admitently great) games.

Fourth, this thing has incredible diversity. ZombiU, the first real survivor horror experience I've had in a decade, scares the shit out of me. Mario is light hearted and fun. Nano Assault is videogame crack. Trine 2 is a great multiplayer adventure. And Nintendo Land is a party starter (don't get me started on the Mario Chase, Animal Crossing, or Luigi's Mansion games).

In sum, I've never had this much fun at launch.

[edit] The only thing that has sucked about my experience has been doing the first system update, and dealing with installing games. Even then, I just use the universal remote to watch TV for 20 minutes or so until it's done. :]

it sounds great. some people, maybe a vocal minority sound really harsh about the Wii U, like rushing it to write it off. They remind me of some bloggers/podcasters BEFORE having their Wii U in a regular basis.

Just one week for eurolaunch!!!

Honestly this system has been pretty fun.
The tablet controller has neat features and nintendoland already shows some awesome potential such as the games where you fling ninja stars with the touchscreen and it extends into the tv screen to hit targets.
The tablet is also a handy inventory screen familiar to ds users as well as an effective tv remote.
Miiverse also really is prevalent and extremely well integrated, especially in nintendoland.
The system has some launch issues but it is a very solid product and it all adds up together to make a pretty refreshing gaming experience.

I know folks are basing some of their assumptions of Wii U being stocked in at local stores through websites, but I've found that's not always true. I'm thinking a lot of them don't even update all that often for individual stores. Or it's counting preorders or something.

I know earlier this week we called several stores in my hometown just to check. I live abroad, but could have easily sent a family member to do my bidding. And while Walmart said those stores had stock, it wasn't the case when we spoke with the folks. After coming to realize most companies just suck at updating their websites, I stopped trusting sites that said they had stock for stores. Just easier to try to find one online at that point, which is what we did.

Yeah cause just those pictures and none of the information on when they were taken are needed.

Nope.

why would you need "information"? next you're gonna ask for "facts" and shit? just look at the pictures and have a laugh.

Taken 2 minutes ago. Sure it is selling well but it is not the hot item atm

Edit gaf not liking whatever image host I used (only one that worked on my phone). Was a pic of wii u being available online at futureshop and all the stores at my quicklist

This is true. On Sunday around 4:00pm I checked Walmart and Target websites to see if any stores around me had Wii U's left in stock. Both sites said they had them in stock at all the local stores, so I went out to get one. When I got to the closest Walmart it turns out they had actually sold out that morning. Went to Target next, and it was the same deal. By the end of the day I had no Wii U.

So with people saying "I checked online store availability of the stores around me and they all have them in stock" know that's not necessarily true.

I'll add that I went shopping this week (I live in Canada) and the Wal-Mart had at least 5 or 6 on the shelves still.

I expected a complete sellout for months.

I'd buy one and likely will at some point. I just can't justify a purchase at this point when the only game I'd want to play is NSMBU. I mean what to do with the thing once I play that game. It will just sit there collecting dust for a few months? Shame Bayonetta 2, Project P, Pikmin weren't launch titles.

Not sure why this is a surprise. Nintendo said they'd have more consoles available at this launch than the Wii's launch, no?

Nope.

First pic was taken at Best Buy last night around 8pm in Annapolis MD.

Second pic was taken by someone else on CAG at an unspecified Target location last night. He said that all those Wii U's were far away from the electronics section and that the electronics section had even more.

Did anyone think you would be able to get a Wii U on Gamestop.com just a few days after release? Basic units are still available right now. Sure, they might have increased supply, but there is little doubt that the demand is much lower than everyone thought

Sounds like stocking for Black Friday to me. I wonder why they would do that?

I agree, damn it is going to be brutal.

Yep, there will be blood.
