I was talking more about the genesis era IP's you could see a clear difference in demographics by then, but SEGA games lost none of their colour or vibrancy in the process.

Before you get excited, you should be reminded that this updated GameStop Wii U launch window release schedule list is likely still inaccurate overall. Aliens: Colonial Marines has a January 2014 release date while other games like Monster Hunter 3UHD is listed for April despite Capcom having stated it's been planned for March. Also, many of the other games are listed for May release despite Nintendo having said that the cut off point for launch window schedule was considered to be March.

Well, back in October 2010, Atsushi Inaba of Platinum Games said "There is no concrete plan or schedule that we can talk about [in response to a possible sequel]. It's not like Kamiya said, 'Okay, we're going to make this.'But Bayonetta is definitely a special IP for us. We loved creating that game. We think it was a really good game. We would love to make a sequel to it when the time is right. That's all we can say."

Hideki Kamiya, on the otherhand, felt confident when he responded to a fan's Twitter question about whether Bayonetta 2 would return. Kamiya said, "I believe so. By May 2012, Sega publically announced several unnamed projects were cancelled due to the company's restructing issues. After Bayonetta 2's Wii U announcement, Hideki Kamiya stated the following:

Even though there has been a bit of a gap since the release of the last game, but I still got lots of request for a sequel from gamers. We were secretly making one the entire time.

Needless to say, this will be one project that will be interesting to here about the details of how it came to be. One would guess that we'll eventually get an Iwata Asks on Bayonetta 2. Highly disagree that W101 doesn't look like it can sell. It has a SUPER marketable look and theme. They can go ultra cheesy superhero game, or play it straight with a semi-serious heroes vs. super giant monsters vibe, but either way, that game has "mascot IP" written all over it. People have been asking for new Nintendo characters for years, well I think it would be a huge missed opportunity for them to not try it with this game.

B2 is potentially a system seller for core audiences, one of the few exclusives I can recall over the past years that would be. Besides, I doubt this portion of the money would've been ratcheted out to R&D anyway, it was probably earmarked into the publishing/third parties budget. It's like when people say 'Why did you spend so much on marketing and not the game?' - it doesn't have anything to do with the way corporations actually manage their cash.

i am aware that i cannot convince other nintendo fans. but to be honest if nintendo would have just released the same shit over again with a new coat of paint like they did on the GC (with some notable exceptions mind you) i would have stopped gaming with the Wii generation.

on wiiu...? people seem to have problems in getting consitant 30 fps. but as i said platinum will abandon ship once they get on foot financially or find other publishers anyways.

I'm not sure why you're buying into literally every self-defeating myth about Nintendo. They only reach Nintendo hardcores, kids, and grandmas, third parties can't sell on the platform, Nintendo has to produce everything for everyone on their platform... Why?

The Wii U is a new machine. Nothing is set in stone. Nintendo games will obviously sell well there, but other companies can succeed if they put out the right product. It happened on the Wii, and it'll happen here. If Nintendo wants to encourage a healthy developer ecosystem, they need to take the initiative to show that their platform can work for others. If that requires funding some games, then so be it.

If Platinum leaves, they leave, and Nintendo still gets their game. If the game is successful, Platinum has good incentive to stick around. It's low-risk (much lower risk then hiring up a new studio), with some nice potential upside.

Dear Beelzebub, no, Nintendo doesn't need to put any more money on WiiSports.

Also, Nintendo publishing Bayonetta 2 is IN NO WAY money away from shit like WiiSports. Game projects have budgets that are decided independently from other projects. It doesn't mean Nintendo will spend less money on Zelda Wii U just because they decided to pick up Bayonetta 2. Game publishing & development simply doesn't work that way.

Sure, they could use a bit of growing (and AFAIK, they actually have hired more people), but that doesn't mean they should not pursue any cooperation with 3rd parties. The fact is, they can't survive with 1st party efforts alone. I certainly wouldn't have purchased any Nintendo platform if I knew I'd only be getting games developed by their own teams, stuff like Sin & Punishment 2, Little King's Story, Muramasa etc. were more of a reason to own a Wii for me than Nintendo developed games (and I LOVE Donkey Kong Country Returns, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Xenoblade & the like).
