The Populate deck really should be running Seance, with Thragtusks and such to overload on value.
at which point it's decidedly not budget anymore, lol.

Take out tablet of the guilds. Cards that only gain life with no other purpose should not be in decks.
It's a creature as well as life gain.http://magiccards.info/cs/en/15.html
They basically printed this card to test the theory you're talking about. Turns out such cards CAN be in decks if they're made ridiculous enough, lol.
But yeah, on the whole... Tablet isn't bad in limited, but yeah, you don't want it in your Standard deck.

There is a mono-red list that runs them right now that has been doing alright in competitive play.
Yes it is, the lifegain artifacts are always the biggest new people traps in limited.

Alright, so my first EDH deck, it still needs some work and a few card changes.
(snip)
Wow that's longer than I thought it'd be.. sorry about that. Any suggestions and ideas are more than welcome!! tell me what you think guys![]()
T4'd an IQ today w/ the B/R list from Charleston. Deck is really good. U/W/R is just a miserable matchup still though.
I'm absolutely floored that isn't played more, then.
Out of curiosity, does Ground Seal prevent something like a Tormnod's Crypt from going off? If not, does anything protect graveyards?
Edit: Crypt targets player. Nvm haha But the second question still needs an answer lol
Alright, so my first EDH deck, it still needs some work and a few card changes. I have some things in here just because I don't have all the cards I want yet.
Notice: I know Kokusho is banned, the guys I play with don't really mind, it's kitchen tbale magic but we know and usually follow all the 'official' rules

Yes. And Yes!okay if a creature has double strike and gets counters for doing damage to a player, how does this work? Do you get two counters? and does the first counter apply before the second hit?
Depends on the wording.okay if a creature has double strike and gets counters for doing damage to a player, how does this work? Do you get two counters? and does the first counter apply before the second hit?
Edit: Also, during a 1 v 1 v 1 game, if I attack player A and do damage to a creature that doesnt kill it, and then it is player B's turn, does player A's creature still have the damage on it?
I would recommend some more multi-lands. There is a cycle of uncommon lands from Shards of Alara that would do well in here: Savage Lands, Seaside Citadel, Jungle Shrine, Crumbling Necropolis, and Arcane Sanctum. They each tap for one of three colors.
You can also throw in Rupture Spire and Transguild Promenade. Functional copies of each other, and both common. They enter the battlefield tapped, and when you play then you have to pay 1 mana or sacrifice them.
Terramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wilds are also no-brainers, able to get you any color you need whenever you want.
There's also a card called Dragonspeaker Shaman. It's an uncommon from Scourge that makes all your dragons cost 2 less to play.
Crucible of Fire gives all your dragons +3/+3.
Kahlia of the Vast lets you throw down any Angel, Dragon, or Demon for free whenever she attacks. Might be a little tougher to get your hands on though.
Fierce Empath is a common 3-mana creature that lets you search your deck for any creature with mana cost 6 or higher and put it in your hand.
Good luck!
I have good news for you, Kokusho isn't banned anymore, it's only banned as a commander.
Also maybe I'm not getting the theme, but why have Angels/Elesh Norn in your dragon deck?
It taps as a necessary part of regeneration, so it can't block anything UNLESS you somehow untap it before Declare Blockers.Okay, if you have a creature with vigilance, and it gets killed and you have the ability to regenerate it, is it still able to block? Or is it tapped outside of anything to do with vigilance so it cant block after its regenerated?
I almost never play straight aggro decks, but the B/R midrange list is the truth. The 10 haste 4/5 drops are nightmarish for other decks to beat and manage to minimize Thraggy. U/W/R is a natural counter to the deck though- pillar/spear/A.Charm + Snappy/Augur is pretty good.Gee, zombies still tearing it up. Shocker.
B/R mirror except for 1 SB card, both guys tweaking the deck from last week to improve it G1 against the mirror and Mana Elf decks (GW/Craterhoof.)Remember when I was telling y'all about Hellrider and Nighthawk in my zombie brew? Same brew just final'd.
I am the zombie master.
It was a metagame deck last week that's showing that it may just straight up be the best natural deck in the format.Wow what a punt by Conley. So I'm guessing this B/R deck is a metagame deck against the midrange and 3-4 color decks that are popular right now?
R/B destroys that deck. Not a single Craterhoof all weekend. Prices to drop...lol
It's very good in the mirror, but they're saying no one's figured out how to do anything about it other than shave %s.They're asking about Nighthawk when we've seen it all weekend take out Resto Angels like chumps.
Derp.
Matt just playing the Conscripts was 100% correct- with his low life total he just needed to give his opponent as few draws as possible because if Tyler hits 4/5 mana the games probably over.
It was the only time in all 3 games where he was actually aggressive enough.I'll grant that one, considering he won.![]()

It is. With Sign being cut, though, going to a 4/2 Hellrider/Dragon ratio has to be correct.I'm thinking that the midrange zombie list is probably the best version. I played the Mark of Mutiny sacrifice version and went 6-3 at GP San Antonio.
I beat the shit out of Reanimator and Selesnya Midrange this weekend. It wasn't even close. Aristocrat into Zealous Conscripts or Mark was just a blowout.
