The Netflix Recommendation Thread of Dope Movies

Every person in the world should watch Carl Sagan's Cosmos at least once in their lifetime. It's currently on Netflix, and I recommend it very highly to anyone who has not seen it.

Not sure how new it is but Mommie Dearest is up and is a must see for anyone who enjoys unintentionally hilarious camp. Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford is so over the top and good, she basically bulldozes her way through the entire film. You'll never be able to look at Joan Crawford the same way again.

Thanks for the rec on this. It was a solid flick. For some reason I found myself attached to the characters in it, especially Gracie.
Awesome you're welcome, glad you guys liked Shuffle!

2 more movies I recommend are "Last Night" with Keira Knightely and "Like Crazy." both about the prospect of Infedelity.

If it hasnt been mentioned yet definitely see War of Arrows!

Private Eye is a great Korean film.

Lots of tension, some comedy and good mystery. I usually don't like comedy mixed with tension but it worked well here.

No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
Sup y'all.

I'm looking for good background television to watch. Either Netflix or Amazon works. Something that I can have on in the background while I work. Usually, that's stuff like Mythbusters or something I've seen before

Anyone have any suggestions?

Documentaries are really good for this. I actually really like Objectified, Helvetica, the Aileen Wuornos Docs are quite good just for her story, Cosmos, ANY of the TED talks, and Stand Up comedies are great since you don't need to watch them.

Not a movie, but I watched the Super Mario Brothers! Super Show yesterday with my kids, and it was amazing. The rap remix of the Mario theme and live action parts were awesome. First episode even had a Nicole Eggart guest spot.

How It's Made is excellent for this kind of thing.

Stephen Fry's Greatest Gadgets is a good two part (hour each) special about gadgets. If you like Fry I would highly suggest it.

Rewatched Freedom Writers and man, what a great fucking movie. Hadn't seen it in years, but still a good watch. <3 it so much.

Speaking of Workaholics, anyone know when/if Season 2 is going to be up?

Also on Hugo, I personally loved it. It was a bit long and I can definitely see how it could get boring at times but it had me hooked from the start and I'll definitely need to watch it again soon.

Yeah wtf, they need to hurry the fuck on that.

just renewed my netflix subscription. Thought i could manage with hulu and amazon.

Funny how Netflix has the better tv selection than Hulu while Hulu has the better movie selection

Finished season 1 of workaholics and yeah they need to put season 2 up there pronto.

I have never seen A Bronx Tale so I think I'll watch that!

I wish Netflix was available in Australia without having to fiddle with proxies.

I see Youtube becoming king in the future though, especially once they ramp up their collection to HD.

Saw Withnail and I a few days ago and loved it. Very good 80's British comedy about two alcoholic dug addict actors who are wasting away. Humor was nice and subtle. Surprised I hadn't seen this one sooner.

Just saw this the other night and couldn't believe what I was watching.

Here's the synopsis from Rotten Tomatoes:

Its reminiscent of the kind of videos Vice would put out, only it careens even more headlong into the absurd. I had to check up on this flick afterwards just to see if it was real, and sure enough Liberia is suing the filmmaker. Amazing stuff and recommended for anyone who wants to see corruption in action with a heaping side of brass balls and humor.

I just finished watching this, and I'm glad it was mentioned here. Very interesting and incredibly unique documentary. That guy must have cast iron balls.

Watch this.

Watched The Two Jakes (sequel to Chinatown) last week for the first time. It was surpisingly better than I expected. Really wish they could have made the third movie but Jack is probably too old now.
