Also, Obama didn't outlaw it. The BCS contract runs out in 2014.

Nah, this was clearly all Obama.

It's a joke.

Whoa. RT @LATechPWalsh: Louisiana Tech has not been selected for a postseason bowl game. Nation's No. 1 offense ends year at 9-3.

Today demonstrates absurdity of both BCS and bowl system. LT should absolutely be bowling

How is this possible? And the NCAA granted GT a freaking waiver at 6-7? Someone explain this to me.

lol so fucked up.

Like I said. NO SYMPATHY!

Gosh I wish GaTech could have pulled it off last night too.

Edit: And I still don't get the point of allowing waivers for teams like UCLA last year and GaTech. If they win the CCG game in that situation, fine. Send them in. But if they lose? Stay home. You have 7 fucking losses. And likely an 8th. If La Tech turned it down, then that's on them of course. But my overall point still stands!

can't really have sympathy for them then. they aren't in a position to make demands

OU and A&M in Cotton? What a rare location and matchup! Awful

Chick-Fil-A*

Although everyone I know still calls it the Peach Bowl.

That's because you know good and devoted college football fans.

The two team rule is BS. I'd bet that Notre Dame stuck that in there to prevent getting blocked out. Even if that's not true, the tide better roll over ND hard.

Remember when Boise State would go 11-1 and even 12-0 and get shafted from BCS bowl games?

Now we have 10-2 NIU getting in. Terrible

I'm not sure what changed, honestly. I remember those years. Is it that most of the BCS conferences just suck so bad? Or are the bowl committees in cahoots to put horrible teams in their games that nobody will come to or watch?

I'm sure this has already been discussed, but Holtz descending in to dbag territory (as far as I'm concerned) again. I'll allow the ND homerism, because, well, he's old. Old people love ND.

Saying UF doesn't deserve the BCS because we didn't win our conference. Oregon and ND this year and Alabama last year? That's ok by him.

Point of order: You're always allowed to make demands when the destination is Shreveport.

Compared to Rustin, Shreveport is a resort. Trust me, I went to church camp in Rustin some years back and I felt like I was in chrenobyl. The town was cold and overcast the entire week, desolate, and you would see the occasional puddle of vomit on the sidewalks....never again

He's butthurt because of his time at USCe. I wouldn't pay him much attention.

I'm sure you caught his Notre Dame carve-out, as he noted that ND was the top ranked independent team.

Kansas was NIU's signature win

Come on now. Northern Illinois beat Central Michigan, a team which upset Iowa, who in turn defeated MAC powerhouse Northern Illinois.

The transitive property is thus clear on two fronts: NIU's true signature win, and the fact that NIU is better than itself.

Hey Gaf, just wondering if you guys are doing a bowl pick 'em this year. Interested in joining and would appreciate some details :)

Problem is you'll have team that will tank to not make the CCG if it will cost them a bowl.

Yep, see this post from bluemax earlier:
Thanks for the reminder! Anyone who was in the Pick Em last year SHOULD have just received an email with whatever account you used last year inviting them back.

If you weren't in the group last year and/or you don't remember you email/password you can sign up with a new one using this info:

Winner gets to name the Off Season thread!
Actually, it's NIU's for bumping Oklahoma.
Deloss Dodds was behind that, too, so I fail to see your point.

Big 12 was soft and loss to ND was only chance for quality non-conference win. They need to do better than UTEP as "difficult" non-conference game #2

Texas scheduled an SECSECSEC opponent. Not their fault the rest of the conference tried for cupcakes.

You scheduled Ole Miss. Ole Miss. That would be like thumping your chest about scheduling a B1G team when you played Indiana or Michigan.

And yet there are people who believe that the Big12 is either the 1st or 2nd best conference this year. Look out our FANTASTIC OOC record! (don't look at the actual teams though).

They have 2 teams ranked in the AP top 25.

(Now, here's hoping the big Pac-12/Big-12 3 bowl series works out in the Pac's favor ;) )

They are a bowl eligible team coming out of the SECSECSEC. Ask A&M and LSU about Ole Miss' doormat status.
